  2. Started by jason,

Because of a previous discussion on this board, I thought about analyzing only the OL during an entire game. It took a second to train my eyes to only watch the OL, and even then it was difficult a few times, but the focus was there 99.9% of the time. I realize everything is subjective in this regard (i.e. scheme, blitzes, pickup responsibilities, etc.) but I tried to focus on what the jobs of the OLinemen were. For instance, in the 17th offensive play in the first half Bell had a great rush pickup; the fact that the defensive player got in without being sniffed is a negative on the OL. I realize this is not always accurate because in some alignments the OL is not res…

I know it would never happen (for various reasons), but would anyone on this board be entirely upset with the concept of drafting just three areas of need this upcoming offseason? 1. OL 2. WR 3. OL 4. FS 5. WR 6. OL 7. FS That would be a wonky looking draft, but if you told me that's how it played out I wouldn't be unhappy. I could also see a nothing but OL, WR, and QB draft.

i have compiled this information to illustrate the importance of drafting well and particularly drafting well in rounds 1-3 if you want to participate in a superbowl. also, i believe the quality of those draft picks is PARAMOUNT to the health and competiveness of your team yet if you look at the bears roster, the number of quality players drafted in these rounds by jerry angelo is exceptionally poor. below are listed all superbowl participents since jerry angelo became GM and participated in the bears draft choices below. I have also listed below all of the bear rosters to date for comparrison. feel free to copy this information for future references if you wis…

Trade Briggs to the Giants for Osi Umenyiora. Trade Knox for a 5th. Extend Idonije, Urlacher, Graham, and Okoye. Cut Omiyale, Wootton, and Spaeth. Sign Robert Meachem, John Carlson (with a new OC, the Bears need an actual TE), and Kyle Orton. Franchise Forte. 1) Reily Reiff, LT, Iowa ---All of you know me as the guy who never wants OT's this high. However, there's a good chance the Bears will be in position to draft a future LT in round 1 rather than a guy later in round 1 who might be a RT. Reiff could actually play LT in the NFL. 2) Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa ---I didn't do this on purpose with 2 Iowa guys, but I love McNutt. He's a very good player. I…

Being there live, here were my thoughts: -Tebow sucks. He did nothing today. Yes, he threw for 191 yards from the 4th quarter on, but that was because of the defense the Bears were set up in. -Barber was good all game, and then he does s*** you learn not to do in 3rd grade when he went out of bounds. Then, he fumbled in OT when if he would've went down, they'd be attempting a 52 yard FG for the win. -I thought Briggs was great. -Hanie sucks. He's been in the league for 4 years. Make it throw. Quit tucking it away after 2 seconds and either throwing or passing. Step up and make a big boy throw. -Hester does some dumb things. He needs to stay on ST. Even there …

I hate to see the Bears lose as much as the next guy, but I also had the midlevel record that always gets the Bears a midlevel draft pick. If Cutler doesn't come back this year, and they have a good idea he won't, do you even want the Bears to make the playoffs? I don't. They'll get embarrassed, and likely a worse draft pick.

  13. I did a little digging and started compiling some stats on JA's draft picks and came up with some pretty telling numbers. 83 total picks out 10 drafts. 12 of the picks considered reaches at the time they were selected with a consensus of scouts and fans. 15% 13 of the picks had an injury history or character issues when the Bears selected them. 17% 58 of the 83 picks are no longer with the team. 70% That is the most telling stat that points to poor drafting. With 3 on IR and 1 on the PS,that leaves 21 of JA's 83 picks currently still with the team. 25% I'm a lot more disturbed after looking at all of these numbers and realize why this …

http://www.1043thefan.com/Channels/trainin...aspx?ID=1585660 Pretty right on in my opinion. These guys are stupid but they definitely understand who is responsible for the Broncos win and his name is not TEBOW. http://www.1043thefan.com/VideoChannel/tra...px?PostID=44894

-Said he doesn't want anything specific for Christmas. -Said if he gets something dumb for Christmas, he'll smile and say he loves it. -Said Cavallari knows better than to not get him anything for Christmas. (but here are more important ones) -Said Tebow has a lot to work on but works on them all day. -Said there's a slim chance he can play vs GB if the Bears win vs Seattle. -Said Hanie is doing better but Martz needs to continue to help him. -Said Barber did a lot of good in that game and nobody should solely blame him. -Said the D has been outstanding. Little recap for everyone.

  16. Started by madlithuanian,

Just a random thought... With Greg Jennings getting hurt...etc, maybe the Packers start resting some players? Maybe that opens the door for a potential Cutler return if we can win those 2 games... Must be the backwash on my koolaid cup that's currently empty...

  17. Started by Alaskan Grizzly,

Given his relative success in Arizona and his recent availability would/ should that be an interest of the Bears? I am hoping Martz will go at this point and I'm not sure what the plan is with Tice. But if the team wants Tice to stay as OC and Martz to go then never mind. I will say I'm not a fan of Haley's, just thinking out loud.

  18. Started by Connorbear,

Why wasn't an inside run called? Why did the Barbarian not have the presence of mind to simply fall down? That was the season. No reason to bring back Cutler now unless he can play at Green Bay but that's not going to happen. I agree with Noots, they will not win another game. Peace
