@ChicagoBears: #Bears have reached agreement with Ed Donatell to become their new DBs coach. He replaces Jon Hoke, who has been informed he won't return. This is a great move. Widely regarded as one of the top secondary coaches in the league.

Just wanted to alert everyone to the Thayers Play of the Week on ChicagoBears.com. The play of the week is Knox's 35 yard catch and run, what I thought was really interesting was the OLine's strong performance on the play, Thayer singles out JMarcus Webb, but more importantly Hester flattens a linebacker blocking for Knox! Maybe that is what this coaching staff expects and if they do not get it, players sit! Really impressive stuff from Hester on the play, not to mention the Cutler throw and Knox catch and run. I think there is alot to look forward to this year from the offence.

Okay, a friend and I were talking about our picks, and what NFL players we might compare them too. Understand, I am not saying our picks will become, are as good, or will end up like those they are compared to. I might see similar traits, or actually feel the upside is comparable. Anyway, here are some thoughts. Jarron Gilbert The player that comes to mind for me is Richard Seymour. Gilbert is 6'5 290. Seymour is 6'6 310, but as I recall, Saymour was lighter coming out of college, and gained weight to play in a 3-4, which Gilbert could easily do. Depending on how you look at it, we lost 2-3 starters from the core roster this offseason (Howard, Amos, and Callahan). Callahan is debatable based on the number of snaps and games played. What I find very interesting is that we will go into next offseason with even less turnover, which is incredible. We will more than likely extend Whitehair, and with Floyd's 5th year option a done deal, that only leaves Trevathan and HHCD as the only starting 22 not under contract for 2020. With Jackson's contract extension looming in 2021, I assume they will extend him in 2020 with a long term deal. I haven't really gotten that deep into it yet but there's been alot of mocks that have been posted here lately. Since our #49 pick is essentially our #1 pick, I'm curious to see who the mocksters have us taken. I found one updated mock but it still has us taking Duke Robinson. Not that I would mind seeing us take the Duke, but we've already added 3 good offensive lineman. We have far more pressing needs at WR, safety & DE.

One thing is clear, if you want to be a Bears WR you will likely be 6'-3" or taller, and if you're not then you will be really fast. That would slide DET into 1st in the DIV, tied with the Bears but holding the H2H tiebreaker. Citing two NFL sources, AOL Sports' Sean Jensen reports Randy Moss is expected to sign a "multi-year deal" to stay in New England. Jensen writes from Minnesota, so he probably has close ties to Moss or his agent. Jensen believes the contract is expected to be for three years and $30 million with $12-15 million guaranteed. A lot of news that comes out at this time of year is misdirection, but this makes sense. Jensen adds that impending free agent Lance Briggs is slated to sign with San Francisco.
