I've done a ton of mocks on fanspeak and I've come up with a very common scenario many times: #11 kind of stinks for our needs. Tunsil & Stanley are gone. Buckner is gone. Jack is gone. The Bears are left with Elliott, Treadwell, Goff, and two DT/DE guys that may not fit (Robinson, Rankins). So what do they do? I hate the idea of Elliott. I also hate the idea of a 1st round QB. If someone were opposed to the DTs, then Treadwell may be the pick. The only other option that I really like is Conklin. I'm not sure if Conklin is worthy of such a high pick. I sure hope it doesn't play out that way. But if it does, would you be upset …

I know some here are really opposed to him in any way whatsoever. I'm not a fan at #11. But in a lot of mock boards he's falling like a rock. All the way to the end of the 2nd and to the beginning of the 3rd. I think if he falls to the third he's criminally underrated, and should be drafted immediately. He may not have put out max effort at college, but he's got the size/speed/athleticism that makes scouts drool. If he puts in effort, he could be an all-pro guy. At the very least he's athletic enough to set the edge and stretch out plays to the sideline. If he makes it to the 3rd, are you in?

I've been thinking about the team being built and the fact that the Bears could very well go BPA in many rounds. That got me to thinking what many of us have said... -This team needs a huge speed upgrade. -This team needs a huge athleticism upgrade. I'm not talking about character. I'm talking about crazy, freak athletes that fit our positions of need and also could be considered BPA. I may not even like the picks, but the results are interesting. 1. Darron Lee, OLB, OSU - 4.47 forty, 35" vert., 133" broad. He's a crazy athlete. 2. Keanu Neal, SS, Fla. - 4.59 forty, 38" vert., 132" broad. Great athlete, packs a huge punch at SS. 3. Derrick Henry, …

I think there's a lot of fluff in the PFF approach, but it does force me to look into prospects no one else is talking about. They certainly march to their own beat. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/...und-mock-draft/

http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2016/4/6/...s-leonard-floyd I dont see it at all. An undersized pass rushing linebacker who can't play the run? They say he isn't a 3 down player, but brings a pass rush on passing downs. But we don't line up in 3-4 in passing downs, we line up at Nickel, and 4-3 ends like Willie Young are more suited to a 3 point stance than this kid. Kiper isnt paying attention.

Okay I've gotta share... I just read the most dumbass article I think has ever been written. In the article the suggestion was the bears trade for mo wilk. and what it recommended we offer: wait for it.... the 11th pick AND alshon Jeffrey!!! If Chicago actually did that I would start rooting for the puckers just in spite of the bears... I would seriously beg someone to hit pace in the head for being a moron... just had to share... I guess Wilkinson is now worth a 1st rd pick and a pro bowl wr....

It's that time of year when some of us are spending way too much time looking at draft guides/highlights/etc. So inspired by the recent All Athlete Draft I saw posted, any other fun All "Something" drafts you can put together for the Bears. I can make a very credible "all Florida" draft with one little cheat that I actually wouldn't be upset with for the Bears: 1. Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida 2. Jonathan Bullard, DE, Florida 3. Keanu Neal, S, Florida 4. Demarcus Robinson, WR, Florida 4. Kelvin Taylor, RB, Florida 5. Antonio Morrison, ILB, Florida 6. Jeff Driskell, QB, Louisiana Tech (but formerly of Florida) 6. Alex McAllister, OLB, Florida 7.…

Gabe Gabriel is a great twitter follow and has great insight on prospects. If you haven't checked out his top 200 grades, I recommend it. http://www.profootballweekly.com/draft/grades/

If we really had our team together ........coaches.....we should have been in the playoffs last year with a 12-4 record. We lost four games last year and gave away the other six. But its was the first year of the Fox era...so it will pass. Now with who we play this year and some of the guys we picked up I fully believe that we will finish at the worst 10-6 Bold = a loss that we should have won. 1 9/13 vs. GB L 31-23 2 9/20 vs. Ari L 48-23 3 9/27 @ Sea L 26-0 4 10/4 vs. Oak W 22-20 5 10/11 @ KC W 18-17 6 10/18 @ Det L 37-34 (OT) 7 Bye Week 8 11/1 vs. Min L 23-20 9 11/9 @ SD W 22-19 10 11/15 @ StL W 37-13 11 11/22 vs. Den L 17-15 …

Very informative read from Gabriel on setting a draft board. I always persumed teams evaluated player by round grade, but looks like it is more just lined up top to bottom and you pick whomever is on top regardless. I say that because I would have assumed someone may not have been on your board in the first but is on your board in the 3rd (say if a 1st round talent slipped). The way it looks, if someone isn't on your list, you stay away from them and I suppose it makes sense and that is why you might see a 1st round graded player fall and continue to fall (as plenty of teams just keep laser focus on who they scouted and evaluated and went with from the beginning). ht…

The Path to the Draft episode today on NFL Network had a Bears War Room feature where they talk about the roster and picks in the first few rounds that they think would make sense. They've been doing these for all the teams leading up to the draft. It will probably be rebroadcast a few times in the next 24 hours, but I'm not sure about availability after that.

Just scanning the web tonight catching on the rumor mill from the last week. Things I've seen of note from either Aaron Leming, Walterfootball, NFL.com, CBSSports, or just my own thoughts.... https://twitter.com/AaronLemingNFL?ref_src=...7Ctwgr%5Eauthor 1) Aaron Leming says Bears have strong interest in Ezekiel Elliot and he might be the pick unless a top 5 player falls. I like Elliot a lot but RB is not my first preference at #11. I have to say the tandem of Elliot and Langford both with power, speed, and quickness, would make life tough for defenses especially with the Oline players we picked up in FA. Elliot is outstanding on blitz pickup so he's the idea…

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/...th-bears-49ers/ Bears are clearly taking a QB somewhere in the first few rounds (given who are current back-ups are) and the fact that we are meeting with practically every QB (or so it seems).

Seems clear we're taking a QB in this draft, we just don't know how early. I'd say 3rd Rd is a possibility and 4th Rd is most likely. I took a look at some film on a few of the prospects that are off the beaten path (i.e. not named Hogan or Prescott): Brandon Allen... I've seen a few people praise him as a solid backup QB candidate with a long career ahead of him. I see good pocket awareness and ability move around to avoid pressure. He's mobile enough to bootleg and can throw well enough on the run. I'd like to see him throw with more anticipation as he usually is waiting for guys to make their break and then be open. He's accurate and arm strength is good en…

http://www.drafttek.com/2016-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp 1. Ronnie Stanley, LT, ND 2. Jaylon Smith, LB, ND 3. Karl Joseph, SS, WVU ... Looking through how things played out, there are some interesting combinations to be made depending on your view of the SS class.

In the Rumors thread we are talking about this in detail. I hope it doesn't happen. But then I got to thinking, "Is it even going to happen?" Kiper thinks Dallas, Baltimore, and Philly could take Elliott. I think we need to do a realistic mock. 1. TEN - Tunsil - This seems like a lock. 2. CLE - Wentz - Another lock. 3. SD - Ramsey - Best player in the draft? 4. DAL - Bosa - Let's say it is too early for Elliott. I can't see them drafting EE with McFadden having a great year and Morris/Dunbar there. 5. JAX - Jack - This seems like a perfect fit for them. Their D was atrocious. 6. BAL - Stanley - I could see EE here, but Forsett still has a decent c…
