Long story short, that move means Cousins is going to a QB-starved team. Until the trade, it was uncertain what would happen. They could still have tagged him, or they could have worked out a deal. But now Alex Smith is the QB in DC, and Cousins is going to be a "franchise" QB available in free agency. That takes at least one QB needy team out of trade possibilities.

I love Trestman. Last night is what I've wanted to see for years. Get up on a team with an offensive scheme? KEEP RUNNING THAT SCHEME! Step on their throat! Do not let them breathe! That's exactly what the offense did last night under Trestman. He did not change, get conservative, let off the gas. He said, "Let's run our offense and try to score." I loved every second of it. We all know Lovie would have let off the gas when the Bears got about 28. A two touchdown lead may as well be 100 points to Lovie Smith. That would have guaranteed a bunch of three-and-out drives because of conservative play-calling, followed by an elastic defense more worried about ea…

INJURY REPORT AND IMPLICATIONS Chicago Bears (5-5) at St. Louis Rams (2-8) By Michael Nudo The Rams MASH unit is teeming with injured players. They will be without Steven Jackson again (Dilip Vishwanat/Getty Images). BEARS OFFENSEcolor> vs. RAMS DEFENSEcolor> Quarterback Kyle Orton (ankle) should be a little closer to full strength. He was very limited in last week’s game in Green Bay. Wide receiver Marty Booker’s knee has kept him out of practices this week. Brandon Lloyd returned to action after a knee injury for last week’s contest and should be more in synch with Orton for the Rams. Wide receiver Brandon Rideau is expected to be signed from th…

  7. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0523-story.html Looks like Kevin White missed todays OTA after participating yesterday. When Fox was asked about it, he basically said it is one practice, we are not going to worry about it. Reporters on the other hand are feeling a little deja vu and wonder if he had a set back. Others that missed:Hronis Grasu, Kyle Long, Danny Trevathan, Zach Miller, Pernell McPhee, Willie Young Most who have missed had offseason surgery. ..

He wasn't good at all. He said he liked Rex, but that was about it. He was a total jerk and asked Waddle if he played in the NFL and pretty much said he wasn't any good. I don't want this ass on our team, sorry.

  13. Obviously this will be easier after Thursday night, but curious to hear what people are thinking/hearing/guessing. Bears figure to make at least one 2nd round pick Friday night, maybe two, maybe one 2nd and a 3rd, who knows? If you were betting, who are the five players you think the Bears are most likely to walk away with Friday night (not who do you want them to draft, but who do you think they will draft)? Mine: Jeremy Chinn, S, SIU Antoine Winfield Jr., S, MInnesota Cole Kmet, TE, Notre Dame (unfortunately) Robert Hunt, OL, Louisiana Michael Pittman, WR, USC

http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/07/19...ball_outsi.html For all you stat guys out there. I like the way these guys look at stats. It has a link within the article for the entire book if anyone is interested. I'm going to start trying to digest it. It looks as though it may be a good FF tool as well. They are going to post more articles on this later.

I don't know how I missed this, but Kellen Davis was actually signed by the Browns to a 1-year deal. The deal is contingent on him actually catching a pass. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/browns-sign-t...09620--nfl.html

Tebow will never be a great QB in the league, but he does have traits that other players are lacking like size, leadership, and morality. I know it's a down time, so I figured I'd throw this up there. What player if they only had a Tebow trait could have been became top players in the league. Quick examples off the top of my head, Jeff George with leadership, Doug Flutie with Size, or Hernandez with morality or whatever. This isn't because I am a Tebow fan. I saw an article about Strawberry wishing he was more like him. It just made me think of all the players that were missing one thing from being great.

Would anyone be opposed to elevating Desai to HC? This guy is just so much more credible than Nagy or even Pace. The consensus is the players like him and based on his comments, he holds guys accountable.
