Holy shit! Win out and the Bears are in.

Two items caught my eye yesterday: Chad Henne signed a two year deal for $8mil Matt Cassell signed a two year deal for $10mil If that's the market for backup and/or care-taker QBs while rookies learn the ropes, goodbye Josh McCown. He did a great job for us and if he can now get a similar contract to those above then that's great for him and his family. It's just not a deal the Bears can do given all the needs on defense.

The Bears Site is saying Bruce will arrive Wednesday and remain in camp for the entire preseason sessions to help the Bears receivers learning the new offense. Good stuff!

Obviously, I'd like to see the line perform better. I predict they will, actually. You'll see Orton in there from the start and I believe now that the QB battle is over, we'll find the game plan much more balanced. We aren't trying to see what our QB's have but rather work our entire O. This means we'll be keeping the D a bit more off balance. As much as I like him on the team, having him still learning the D and then face off against Brees concerns me a little. And, for what it's worth, I am glad to see Barber is staying out this week. Don't think he will be as needed this week as he will be against GB. I feel that given NO's defense, Forte and Bell will do just fine.

Landing Justin Fields added a new chapter that no one knew was coming. We figured this book was ending with the Red Rifle leading the Bears down a tanking season with hopes of landing a top 1-3 pick next year. Could you imagine going through that scenario and then the top QB prospect is from North Carolina. That would have been a nightmare. The magic that just happened guaranteed a sequel. It seems with all these signings, that Kruetz is not on the Bears list as a need. I wonder if they plan on Moving Garza to Center or hoping Linnenkohl is all they thought he was. This will make a very interesting time , that for sure.

Defense Coming into this game it seemed clear Fox was more focused on being healthy against Green Bay. The most surprising inactive, or the one I wasn't expecting, was Antrel Rolle and I think he was missed a lot. Why was Prosinski out there instead of Jones-Quartey? We'll never know but I'm pretty sure I saw JQ out there on special teams. I trust these coaches to put the best players out there but I also recognize that they are not afraid to develop new talent keeping an eye toward the future.
