http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...is-last-season/ PFT GearBroncos tried to trade Ryan Harris last season Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 18, 2011, 9:04 AM EST Earlier in his four-year career, Denver’s Ryan Harris looked like a franchise cornerstone and one of the best right tackles in football. After a slew of injuries and inconsistent play, the Broncos were ready to dump him last year. Josina Anderson of FootballProsLive.com reports that the team tried to trade Harris last season. The Bears reportedly showed the most interest, with the Raiders, Bills, Redskins, and Texans also in the mix. Harris wound up starting the last eight games…

I will assume that they sign a WR in the FAgency as there are many out there, and maybe a OLineman. Ideally Sidney Rice and maybe Deuce Lutui, guard from the Cardinials. Rice is young would be perfect for Cutler. Lutui had a excellent year in 2009 and sucked in 2010. Hes 28 and could come reasonable. I also assume they resign Kruentz for another year or two while we train a new center. That they cut T. Harris. 1) Sherrod/OT/Miss St or Castonzo/OT/BC, one of them should be there. They will play RT as Webb moves over to LT as he has the body for the left, and has improved. 2) Williams/CB/ Tex or Smith/CB/Colo, need a CB to start right away and both are ove…

Sign Sidney Rice and Davin Joseph, then draft: 1 - Mike Pouncey, OG, Florida Day 1 starter at LG, lets Chris Williams move back to LT. A line of Williams-Pouncey-Kreutz-Joseph-Webb should be more than adequate, with Omiyale as the swing tackle and Garza backing up the interior line. 2 - Drake Nevis, DT, LSU Ready-made three-technique DT. Has drawn comparisons to Tommie Harris in college, should be able to replace Tommie early in his rookie season. Quick off the snap, has a decent pass-rush repertoire already, and is surprisingly strong for his size. Allows the team to cut Tommie and use Toeaina/Melton to spell Adams and Nevis. That's a solid d-line rotat…

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...ion-with-bears/ Mike Tice gets contract extension with Bears Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 16, 2011, 6:26 PM EST Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice didn’t get a chance to be the Titans offensive coordinator, but he did get a little extra money in his pocket from the Bears. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that Tice got a one-year extension through 2012 on Wednesday. (He presumably got a pay bump on the final year too.) In exchange, the man formerly known as Meathead essentially can’t complain about not getting his shot for a promotion. Tice wasn’t the only Bears assistant to get an exten…

Drunk Bomber calls for a first round OL fenom hopes the Bears move UP in the first round for OL Connor says we should spend our first two picks on OL Everyone chimes in: Butkusrules declaring OL as the #1 priority, balta calls for 2 or 3 OL draft prospects, Pix says the other positions don't matter if the OL sucks, RME and Drunk Bomber make OL at least 1A or 1B Bearsox flat out rejects anything other than OL with the first pick And, finally (because I looked through a few pages and that's enough), a poll... 27 out of 36 votes believe that OL needs to be the #1 priority So, here's what I'm thinking... 1. If we all thought it t…

Just an article by Brad Biggs in the Trib. If someone could please post the article for me. I can't as I'm using my phones internet. Basically states that Titans faxed us for permission to interview Tice for O-cord and we have denied that reguest. I am glad we did. Would have been tough if he had left.

http://bearingthenews.com/?p=976 Bears in a Bind if Titans Try to Take Mike Tice by Tom Shannon Both Sean Jensen at the Chicago Sun-Times (http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2011/02/mi...n_titans_r.html) and Brad Biggs at the Chicago Tribune (http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-02...rcus-webb-bears) are reporting that the Tennessee Titans might have an interest in Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice. Some interesting aspects to this: 1) New head coach Mike Munchak was the offensive line coach there and he would certainly see Tice’s value to the team as a replacement for himself. However Tice’s value as a coordinator is debatable. Though he i…

Sign Carl Nicks. NOTE: I don't have them taking an OG because: Carl Nicks is a stud and they improved once Garza came back. I don't have them taking a bruising RB to compliment Forte because: Harvey Unga should get some time this year. 1. Benjamin Ijalana, OT/OG, Villanova ---I haven't been a fan of taking an OT this high as you all know. But this is perfect. I'm not sure whether Ijalana will be guard or tackle in the NFL. Omiyale and Webb are going to be given chances to succeed. Ijalana can wait for now as he gets used to the speed of the NFL and also what position fits him best. 2. Ras-I Dowling, CB, Virginia ---Tim Jennings has been a surprise, and Til…

Browns Cut Shaun Rogers, Five Others By FanHouse Newswire Text SizeAAAPrint this page|EmailShare on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on DiggShare on Lifestream CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Browns are cleaning house. On Wednesday, the team terminated the contracts of some big-name players, including their biggest player -- enormous nose tackle Shaun Rogers (right). In addition, the Browns, who are rebuilding once again under new coach Pat Shurmur, also released veteran linebackers Eric Barton and David Bowens, defensive end Kenyon Coleman, tight end Robert Royal and right offensive tackle John St. Clair. All six of the players are over age 30, and the…

Was just reading that Burress is due to be released in June. The article asks "how well will he perform after being away from the game after two years?". I think I might have an idea; ask Michael Vick or Mike Williams of Seattle. The article also highlighted that he has lost some weight. New York has no interest in him moneywise i believe. Could be that big receiver for relatively no cost and no strings the Bears are needing. Still leaves room for a few OLmen.

So the guys at Walterfootball.com have done a 5-round mock draft for all 32 teams. Here's who they have Chicago picking: 1. Mike Pouncey, OG, Florida This would be a stellar pick, in my opinion. Get a genuine stud at left guard, move Chris Williams back to left tackle, and let Omiyale and Webb compete for right tackle. Three birds with one stone. 2. Marvin Austin, DT, UNC Drake Nevis is off the board at this point in their mock, making Austin the best remaining under-tackle prospect. Given the guy's talent, I'd be OK with gambling on his character issues. A d-line of Izzy-Adams-Austin-Peppers would be beastly. Also, their mock has a serious run on …

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,4136759.column Newly elected Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk had some choice comments about the Bears and the Mike Martz offense: "In this offense if you run a slant and a defender is coming down on you then you have to cross his face," he said Tuesday on "Chicago Tribune Live." "But every time I see Johnny Knox run a slant he goes behind the defender and you see an interception go the other way and everyone looks at Jay Cutler and says, 'How did he throw that pass?' That is going to be a mistake no matter who the quarterback is." On the quality of the Bears wide receivers: "I see no pure wideout.…
