I expect it's a minimum deal. Just 27 years old (sense a theme?). I thought he played well at the end of the year and would be fine with him as the #2/#3 TE.

The TE turned down a strong four year offer from the Bears to sign a one year deal with AZ. I got to admit, I thought it was a done deal the Black Unicorn would be gone. He was given permission to negotiate a trade and so far there appears to be nothing. Considering it's a week TE draft class and there's really nobody left on the open market (aside from Miller) I have to think it's a strong possibility he returns.

With the recent contract updates both Howard and Kwiatkoski have earned pay raises and now have $2mil/yr salaries based on playing time. Both have earned it, especially Howard. However, we are tight on cap space and depending on how things go with Iggy, Kwit might be the 4th ILB on this roster. That's not a spot we can afford to spend $2mil to fill. Nor is he the ideal fit inside due to his lack of speed. I don't know for sure what Pagano wants in his ILBs I can't imagine it's much different from Fangio. Kwit is a good ILB and could easily fit well into someone's 4-3 scheme. I think the Bears should try to trade him for a day 3 pick. We can likely sign a vet…

Noteworthy perhaps only because that leaves us with just three safeties on the roster with workouts coming up. Maybe we have our eye on a FA and this is a precursor to that move (Jeromy Miles would make some sense to me), or maybe it's just clearing guys out we don't see a future with. As it stands though I would expect a safety in the draft somewhere. I've been on record as not much of a fan of this safety class. Anyone have someone they really like? I'd personally prefer a good coverage guy over a big hitter, so I'm partial to a mid-round pick on a guy like Adrian Amos or Damarious Randall.

Did anybody notice this yesterday? It didn't happen often, but I think for one play there was an instance where Shea was lined up in a 2 point stance as an outside backer. I love that we're starting to see more creativity on defense, and would love to see more of this in the future where he's able to roam around and attack the quarterback ala Clay Matthews every once in a while. In watching a few highlights and specifically the New Orleans / Green Bay contest earlier this week, many teams Defenses' are simply not ready. I believe Deion Sanders was making the point on NFL Network during "NFL Gameday". Something along the lines of how during the off-season and specifically the lockout you heard of teams' Offensive members meeting with each other but not many Defensive players (as a unit) getting together. Going back to the Saints/Packers game a total of 76 points combined and the passing that was going on, revealed many blown coverages.
