And one of them made it to the Super Bowl. For most of the other 28 NFL teams, the appropriate reaction should be, "Thanks for nothing." With parity and the salary cap already eroding the five-year plan to three, at best, owners could be getting even more impatient in the wake of the resurgences of the Falcons, Dolphins, Ravens and Cardinals, who…

I saw someone point out that this could be a move that benefits both team and player. We have Terrell Smith who is a little stickier in man coverage than Stevenson, but less good at tackling around the LOS. Given the new defensive scheme is going to rely on man on the outside more often and our lack of depth at safety this could be a win win. I could see Stevenson playing the role Brisker has played for us and doing it well.

i have seen this day coming for a long, long time. the freaking NFL wants you to pay to watch it's product. through DTV, ESPN, NFL Channel, Amazon Prime and NOW they are charging you (if you want to watch it) to see the playoffs on PEACOCK TV. i guess they don't make enough money or have enough government taxpayer funded subsidiaries or tax breaks. now they they want to bleed the general public to squeeze the last dime out of your pocket. MLB did it (i stopped watching that mess in the 90's) and the normal non-subscribed to premium television viewers can't even watch the playoffs. then college football did it (i stopped watching that also) by putting your LOCAL team …

With one week left, this is quite surprising. I know injuries and playing time impacted the numbers, but it has been since Kendall Wright led the team in receiving that the Bears top Receiver had fewer than 750 yards receiving. Moore 49-671-6 Loveland 48-622-5 Odunze 44-661-6 Burden 44-617-2 There is an outside shot that the Bears end up with 4 Receivers with over 50 Receptions and 700 Receiving Yards. The fact that they are so close is really impressive.

For all intents and purposes training came and preseason are over. Other than setting a few of the last of the 53 man roster we know who is going to be on this team. As a fan I would like to know what you all expect. Best case and worst case. Baring any injuries to the starting 25 or so. If Mack goes down, or Mitch all bets are off. A receiver or running back gets lost all bets are off. But if this team can keep it's core in tack what are yo'ur realistic expectations for this season. What would be successful season or a failure. For me, not making the playoffs or losing in the first round again would be a failure. Making the NFC championship would be a succe…

I am going to post some info in here to discuss the QB situation. First I was looking back at some past League MVPs, and one season popped out at me. Take a look at this recent league MVP and two similar Pro Bowl QBs from different years: League MVP: 1. 67.0 QBR, 59.8% Comp, 239 Y/G, 7.8 Y/A, 39.8 Rushing Yards/G Pro Bowlers: 2. 65.0 QBR, 62.6% Comp, 252 Y/G, 8.1 Y/A, 56.3 Rushing Yards/G 3. 70.8 QBR, 66.6% Comp, 230 Y/G, 7.3 Y/A, 30.1 Rushing Yards/G #3 was Trubisky in 2018, and he had a better overall QBR than Cam Newton's 2015 MVP season and Michael Vick's 2010 with the Eagles. They were the closest comps in multiple statistical categories and a…

With all the good things we did this off season, the little thing we didnt do that what have made our team more reliable seems dumb at this point. Okeye was signed for 700 th, and 600 in incentives, why didnt we just sign him and not had to worry about the DT position for one more year. He wasnt special but what he added in rotation made our team better as proposed to signing 4 guys to try to fill that position. He wasnt expensive or long term. The dumbest thing we didnt do in the off season other than adding a OT in the draft.

  13. I'm getting confirmation by the weekend. I think tickets were $81...but I'd be willing to take a bit less. If you are at all interested, please send me a personal note and/or a reply here. I think the seats are in the end zone. 4 seats all together. I just want to see if any of the fans here want a stab at it before I contact some other folks... I can't make it to Chicago that day sadly and want the tix to go to good fans!

Here is the article from the Trib's website as reported by Vaughn McClure: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...briggs-chicago- Looks like it is a six year $36 million deal that locks him up. Briggs said it was not about the money however, with the way he acted last year receiving the franchise tag makes you think otherwise. Now what do they do with Brian and Tommie to keep the two of them happy. In a way I think this is good that for once we keep our core linebackers together, it just creates new problems that need to be resolved as well.

Well we hopefully will get the answer to the big question. Is the Cutler going to get that long contract? If he dominates I would think he gets a pretty good contract. If he plays like shit Im not sure what would happen. If he plays decent then I would lean to the Tag. Three options: 1. He dominates the rest of the games 2. Plays decent or a little better then the beginning of the season 3. Looks like crap, almost Cutler in the Lovie era (which im not sure is possible) What do you guys think will play out with each option?

Since the best draft teams take the BPA regardless of position. What if? one of the 3 OTs fall to us-Robinson-Mathews-Lewan (getting a top 10 LT that would move Bushrod to the right side, cant be all bad for a improving OL) What if? Barr or Mack drop to us- they are both 3-4 OLBers.( consistent top10 players that can rush the QB but are strictly 3-4 backers) What if? Watkins or Evans drops to us( these are elite type WRs and not sure we could pass them up) I would not like to consider any of those possibilities, but one of those situations could come up. I would think someone would be willing to give us lots of draft picks to grab one of those to…

The Bears HAVE to trade down, here's to hoping San Fran wants Vaccaro S or Allen WR. Bears get 1-31,3-74, and 4-128. 1-31 Alec Ogletree LB - Has the skills to cover a lot of field in the middle like #54. Needs some fine tuning but was always a top LB. 2-50 Arthur Brown LB - Why not rejuvinate the history of LB, Eventually takes Briggs spot. I'd trade back up w/ a 4th if have to. 3-74 Ryan Swope WR - Dangerous slot WR is what the Bears need between the beasts, he has speed to stretch also 4-117 Brian Schwenke C Cal - Quick, athletic and fits a zone blocking scheme. 4-131 David Bakhtiari G/T Col - undersized for T, but can play G and …

With the recent contract updates both Howard and Kwiatkoski have earned pay raises and now have $2mil/yr salaries based on playing time. Both have earned it, especially Howard. However, we are tight on cap space and depending on how things go with Iggy, Kwit might be the 4th ILB on this roster. That's not a spot we can afford to spend $2mil to fill. Nor is he the ideal fit inside due to his lack of speed. I don't know for sure what Pagano wants in his ILBs I can't imagine it's much different from Fangio. Kwit is a good ILB and could easily fit well into someone's 4-3 scheme. I think the Bears should try to trade him for a day 3 pick. We can likely sign a vet…

Eisen when Schefter was giving him Props and bears Props, and last nite with Lombardi talking about Ortons Injury. T.D. also gave a smirk. David Haugh of the Trib offers his 5 ways to fix the Bear's D, http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,1073982.column 1 Stop stacking the linebackers at the line of scrimmage so much to fake blitz. Agreed 100%. I've talked about this myself. Urlacher is being used to fake blitz, then drop back into coverage. This looked great week one, but since then, I think teams have figured it out and the effect is negated. Worse, it takes urlacher out of position to do much of anything. Basically, he is trying to get back into position, but is more often still in no-mans land when the pass is made. As Haugh mentions, Urlacher always seems a step behind the …
