My question is, assuming this season goes off without a renewal of the CBA and there is no resolution to the problems keeping ownership and players from agreeing, could we see scab football again in 2011? I was reminded of that horror by the fact that Peyton was our QB back during the CareBear era. Is there something in labor law that would prevent that this time around or can the owners declare a deadlock and hire scabs to fill the uniforms and break the union?

love this martz quote When I asked him once about criticism he was facing for not running enough, he said: "I could care less how many times we run the ball. The whole logic is to win the game. I could care less about balance. When I call a game, it's based on what's going on out there and what I see." http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,493985.column

Former Bears player Terry Obee from the `93 team attended our church today. He's the new WR coach at Western Kentucky University which is in the city I live. The name sounded familiar but I didn't really remember him until we got to talking and I told him I was a Bears fan. He was at Stanford last year with Harbaugh his former QB. He came to WKU with Willie Taggert when he got the head coaching job here. Always nice to meet a former Bear.

Hub was on the score just a little bit ago and he saying that the Bears have already reached an agreement with Martz but "they are soooo afraid of what Cutler will think" and that is the reason he hasn't been hired yet. I will also no longer listen to what Martz says. He also went on to say how much of a baby that Cutler is and everything but then just a minute later he said that you never really saw that during the season. I think he is getting his information for not so realiable sources. He tried to say that he heard that Cutler was such a big baby and everything in Denver all the time but I think that is funny because you never really heard much from him until aft…

This is going to get rip. I say this knowing such full well. But I honestly wonder if we would not have been just as well off keeping Turner for this coming season. You hear it over and over again. Hell, Turner has preached it of late. It takes time for an offense to gell. We entered the season w/ very high expectations due to a QB unlike most of us living Bear fans can recall. It was soon obvious though how lacking our offense was. We had a pro bowl QB who struggled w/ the playcalling, decision making and showed little chemistry w/ his players. We had an OL that saw 3 out of 5 new faces, 2 of which were very green still in terms of starting. We had a WR c…

For the longest time (unfortunately) I've been complaining up a storm over this regime. Realistically, I don't see any reason to stop complaining until actual results happen. However, I'm going to relent a tad and take a swig from Pix's kool-aid jug. Of course, I'm putting a dram of Scotch in it to keep me honest...but I digress. As a kid, I remember a comic book called. "What If?". Its premise was to play out the universe as if something else happened. For instance, an example could be "What if the Fanastic Four had different powers?" The comic would then go about showing how the "universe" would change, etc due to that premise. I recall it being interesting,…

Smith, Angelo may be at odds over coordinator pick Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 31, 2010 8:47 AM ET Mike Martz made his best sales pitch to Jay Cutler in Nashville Saturday. If he can convince the Bears front office, he just might be back in the NFL. Neil Hayes of the Chicago Sun-Times has sources that say Martz is Lovie Smith's top pick. The coach usually chooses his staff, but the process is reportedly "complicated," which may indicate some disagreement between Smith and G.M. Jerry Angelo. Cutler's opinion will also be a factor. The Chicago Tribune, meanwhile, seems to think Martz is in the driver's seat. If the team let him travel to Nashv…

We are going to be a better offensive football team this year with Martz!!! Everything starts in the offensive line. Everything. They allow you to keep your defense off the field, to protect the quarterback, to do what you want to do on offense. When that’s established—which we’ll get done—then I think more than anything else, you get off the bus and really you are getting in a position to hit them right in the mouth.” Martz is known primarily for coordinating an explosive Rams offense that was dubbed “The Greatest Show on Turf.” Led by quarterback Kurt Warner, running back Marshall Faulk, and wide receivers Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, St. Louis boasted a …

Since O-Gun has a broken leg and will take some time to heal and for him to get back to form,Brown is older and the steady DE. Anderson is not the answer do you take a shot at Peppers? We have no first or second round pick to spend big money on so why not go after Peppers? I think with Peppers and Harris it could be another situation like it was in Tampa with Sapp and Rice coached by one R Marinelli. If not Peppers then Kampman from GB

Martz sheds light on hiring process February, 1, 2010 Feb 16:40PM CTEmail Print Share By JEFF DICKERSONFT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- New Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz just shared some insight on the whole hiring process during a conference call with Chicago media members. "Lovie was very clear from the beginning this was going to take time for him to go through step by step," Martz said. "He did it the right way, especially since he got the job done. He was very clear about this from the very beginning." Martz detailed his meeting with Jay Cutler last week in Nashville, where in addition to having dinner, to two had some serious football related discussio…
