Ted was on the SCORE this morning with Mully & Hanley. The interview will be available on their website soon. Highlights (paraphrasing Ted): - The fact that a player like DA comes in at the end of the year and plays very well makes you question what is going on. - Believes Lovie and Jerry give the best chance to turn around the team quickly. - Playoffs are the standard for next year. - Hanley asked if Lovie and Jerry were out of contract, would he have extended them. With the season now officially over (as opposed to when it was essentially over two months ago), what does this team actually need to do in the offseason? It's easy to look at this team and see nothing but holes, but without their first two picks (which hurts both for draft and for trade purposes), it's hard to see how they can fix, or even patch, everything. So, let's look at this team: QB: It'll be Cutler and Hanie, but am I the only one who would kind of like to see a veteran QB on this team? Of course there have been no links to the team, but I'm thinking what about Dan Reeves. This is the kind of guy I would like to see get hired for the offense. IMO, who ever gets hired as the OC is the coach of the offense. This guy has been there and done that. Last year he interviewed for the San Fran OC, so apparently he wants back in the business if he was willing to interview for that position. I think a true coach like him would be amazing for the young talent on offense.

Okay, I realize everyone wanted Lovie gone. I did too. After taking a day, I began to think about some positives. Several of the positives are based on "what ifs," and we will have to see what comes of the near future situation. But this is why I am not as upset today. 1. I don't like Lovie. Frankly, I was never high on him from day one, and felt we went to the SB in spite of him more than due to him. Per Rotoworld: I would actually really like this re-hire. Fewell was our DB's coach in 2005, and has been the DC in Buffalo since 2006. Like Rotoworld mentioned, having him focusing on the Secondary and Marinelli on the D-Line could make for a solid team of coaches.

As you know, I try to remain an optimist when it comes to the Bears. Here are a few thoughts that may help you remain one too. So, have at it, I'm not happy with what I've seen from these guys for the last few years either, but here are the things that keep me hopeful for next season... We needed a new OC. I don't think anyone here was in love with Turner. Now we'll get one. And hopefully whoever it is will be able to make the best of our new QB. Cutler seems to be involved in this process. another ex Ram Coach Lovie seems to only want people he has either worked with in Tampa or with the Rams.

What are your thoughts on their performance so far? 1st - Williams 2nd - Forte 3rd - Bennett 3rd - Harrison 4th - Steltz 5th - Bowman 5th - Davis 6th - Baldwin (gone) 7th - ? Throw in Hanie as UDFA and DA and Roach who we snagged off of other teams practice squads. To me, this is actually shaping up as a fairly good group. Thoughts? Peace

Both have done exceptional jobs with young QBs. I also recall Clements being highly regarded. He could be a great option as well.

Found this on Jim Trotter twitter "be careful charlie weis: one of the bears' fired assistants just told me that jay cutler is a "coach killer". " Sour grapes or truth.....

Do they wait until after the Super Bowl, or is this something they get done soon? I would hope the sooner the better to get the head start on next season.
