  1. Bears hire Tim Ruskell Posted by Michael David Smith on February 23, 2010 7:49 PM ET We noted last week that the Bears were poised to hire former Seahawks General Manager Tim Ruskell, and now the deal is reportedly done. Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Ruskell has agreed to become the Bears' director of player personnel, and the deal is expected to be announced in the next 48 hours. Ruskell and Bears G.M. Jerry Angelo are friends who previously worked together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although he apparently won't have the same title, Ruskell is filling a void left when the Bears fired senior director of pro personnel Bobby DePaul. Ruskell …

Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 3m #Bears have re-signed C Roberto Garza to a 1-year contract. Garza wasn't bad at all last year, it certainly helped him to have competent guards on both sides of him, so I'm cool with this. With Garza and Boggs re signed I can't imagine they draft a center now. Deal is for 1.5M, not sure if its all cap money or what, I'm sure it will get broke down later

Roster Move: Bears sign WR Damiere Byrd Another veteran speedy WR with experience as a kick returner. I think half of the FA contracts signed by all teams this year are 1 year unguaranteed contracts.

So, tell me if I'm crazy for thinking this, but what if the Bears are actually benefiting from playing all of these games against zone-read teams with athletic QB's? They got a major taste of it with the Eagles and Seahawks in pre-season, and right off the bat in the regular season, they get the Bills, 49'ers, and Jets in back-to-back-to-back weeks. They've been awful at defending it up until this game. They still allowed like 120 yards on the ground today, but it feels different this time. Gore had 1 explosive run and Kaepernick got away from a few defenders that missed tackles to rack up some yardage late. The difference this time is the Bears were usually right there t…

I seen where Charles Leno has only gives up 4 pressures this year, no sacks , no QB hits. He has played Matthews, Jones and Jason Pier-Paul, I would have to say he has done well. Blair Nichols, RHH, Bullard, and Arron Lynch are good players. Goldman, Mack are studs, Smith and Floyd have played well. We have a lot to look forward to on the D.

Hear me out... The Browns are the Browns. They could easily pass on Myles Garrett. There is also every indication they love Mitch Trubisky. I don't think it's likely, but they could very well pass on Garrett. There is at least some speculation out there about whether or not Garrett takes plays off, or if he's lazy. So we get to the Niners. They're QBs are Matt Barkley and Brian Hoyer. Remember them? Do you think those two are the future? I don't even think they believe they are locked in as starter and backup, whichever order is inconsequential. So naturally the Niners are planning on QB early. They HAVE to be. Am I talking myself into this? I …

sucks donkey balls. I was extremely disappointed. The sound system was way, way too loud and it feels like a tomb inside. I like how the newer domed stadiums have windows (Indy, AZ, etc). I will say the concessions and facilities are much nicer that Soldier but that is probably true of any stadium. Peace

They will start rookie Mac Jones. I mention this because it will muddy the waters for the Bears as they try to trade Foles. Chances are a team can sign Newton on a cheaper one year deal as a backup.

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/ChalkTalk...p?STORY_ID=8696 With the Bears signing punt and kickoff returner Eric Weems, do you think they will—dare I say it—look to trade Devin Hester? Why else would they add a Pro Bowl return specialist? The Bears didn’t sign Eric Weems because they wanted to push Devin Hester out the door or reduce his role. They’ve always believed in having as many good returners on the roster as possible, and that’s why they made the move. Weems, who was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2010 as a special teams player, also has excelled covering punts and kickoffs. I recently asked general manager Phil Emery about Hester’s role and he said: “…
