Last week it was “Nincompoops”, today “Despicable”. Thank you Dan Hampton for your no-nonsense take on the current state of our team. Couldn’t agree more. https://www.google.com/amp/s/bearswire.usatoday.com/2019/11/11/bears-lions-dan-hampton-despicable-win-week-10/amp/

Since the draft didnt do anything for us there still are some veterans out there. Hanyesworth-a worth ethic problem, but if fire lit under his ass, as a NT you slide Paea over to 3 tech, as I remember when drafted he was quick enough to play there. Franklin-older vet that would only be a NT, see first note Bernard-older vet that would only be a NT, see first note J. Miller- on the roster, not yet given the chance, has interesting speed Cameron-UFA signing that probably wont make the roster Sign A Carter and move Ildonije to DT, only if McClellin pans out Not a lot of choices, unless others DL are dropped as the draftees players fill ther…

  4. David Kaplan asked a number of softball questions as one would expect, but Loyd really impressed me from a PR standpoint. He interviewed extremely well and was very humble. He comes off as a genuinely respectful young man. He wants to bulk up to 255 and contribute in any way possible. He seems to just want to play football and help the team win. I liked what I saw. Welcome to the Bears Mr. Floyd! Now, go kick some ass!

I kept seeing the media talk about how the preseason record doesn't necessarily correlate to regular season success. So I thought about looking at it from something else that is a good measure of success over time (score differential). So I looked at all teams which allowed 40 or more points than their opponents in the preseason and see how they fared in the regular season (and I think there is some correlation there). Take a look: 2015 PIT -49 (10-6, WC) NO -47 (7-9) STL -45 (7-9) 2014 BUF -41 (9-7) KC -48 (9-7) DAL -56 (12-4, DIV) CHI -41 (5-11) 2013 JAX -51 (4-12) SD -44 (9-7) TB -49 (4-12) ATL -43 (4-12) 2012 NYJ -57 (6-10) …

There was an article on CSNChicago.com about the Bears that I found interesting. It gave team stats in some offensive and defensive areas for the Bears compared to teams which made the playoffs this year. I was actually surprised by the info provided and encouraged in that if we could rank that favorably with the 2016 playoff teams with 19 players on IR, what could we accomplish in 2017 with a healthy roster and key additions made this opffseason in FA and the draft? It is a long offseason.

I have a question that I've been thinking about for a few weeks. Is Chester Taylor tipping off plays? Clearly his performance hasn't been good in the second half of the season and when you compare his numbers to Forte's they are headed in opposite directions. I definitely think Taylor himself is not running well as he doesn't seem to be hitting the hole very decisively. However, he also seems to face more tacklers in the backfield than Forte does. Seeing that everyone else out there is the same why are defenses seemingly so good at keying on Taylor's runs? Is it just his hesitation, Martz' play calling, or is his alignment pre-snap giving defenders a clue whe…

The Bears are who we feared they were... All kidding aside, here's what I'm walking away with: 1. The defense played great. The old men did well. Also Shae had some good plays. Tillman especially impressed me. 2. Webb could be the worst OL in the history of the NFL. jason has been 100% right the whole time. 3. Kellen Davis is useless 4. Michael Bush was a great pick up 5. Cutler cannot beat the Packers. I want him benched earlier if he keeps up the mistakes. I don't care that the OL stunk. A lot of it is still on him. I'm over seeing him get killed. At least let Campbell take the hits. 6. Marshall showed why he had the most drops last s…

So Gordon got completely shredded last night on multiple plays (no help from Jackson on one of them), but the alternative in the 2nd Round was a WR. There were 6 WRs selected after Gordon in the 2nd Round (and before Velus Jones). Here are there stats after 2 weeks: Wan'Dale Robinson 1-5 John Metchie - no stats Tyquan Thornton - no stats George Pickens 2-26 Alec Pierce - no stats Skyy Moore 1-30 Pickens may have the best chance to pan out, maybe one of the injured guys does, but I don't know if any of them would help our putrid offense right now. If Mooney has only 2 receptions, most of these guys wouldn't even have a target on the Bears yet.

Since Poles was in KC, what cheap free agents could Ryan bring with him? WRs Brian Pringle and Demarcus Robinson CBs Chavius Ward and Mike Hughes S Daniel Sorenson None made significant money and Sorenson is the only one with age. Pringle has 4.46 speed and has gotten better every year. Ward is a better CB than anyone on our roster not named Johnson.

Williams 395-580, 68.1%, 4490 yds, 7.7 Y/A, 31 TD, 8 INT Moore 85-930 yds, 8 TD Odunze 75-960 yds, 5 TD Loveland 70-790 yds, 7 TD (top 5 rookie TE season) Burden 65-880 yds, 4 TD (top WR3 in NFL) Kmet 50-480 yds, 4 TD Swift 30-250 yds, 1 TD Others 20-200 yds, 2 TD Williams' numbers would put him 4th in completions, attempts, and yards, 6th in TDs, 5th in INTs, 8th in Y/A, and 9th in Comp%. All of these are completely scientific and can't be disputed until they are incorrect after the season.

The two stingiest teams in the NFL are the Bears and the Packers (146 points allowed for both teams). Granted, defensive scores can factor in, but what the hell?! I knew we were doing well but this surprised me...especially to find that the two top Ds are both in our division. The blank we put on the Dolphins helped I'm sure. http://www.nfl.com/standings Of course only a few years ago we used to allow closer to 10 ppg rather than 14.6, but it's still impressive even if our schedule does get tougher from here on.

  16. we had nearly 10 years of poor drafting that has left this franchise with nearly nothing in drafted talent. our roster is swarming with 2nd and 3rd tier players on BOTH sides of the ball and players at the ends of their careers. the only talent what-so-ever with maybe 1-2 exceptions has been brought in as free agents or drafted by someone else than jerry angelo. to let that GM continue on as long as he did falls DIRECTLY onto CEO mike mccaskey and his crony ted phillips. they have run this franchise into the freaking DIRT that will take a good GM 3-4 years to turn around in the draft even IF we currently have one!!! the coaching staff in this franchise should h…

I brought up Miller when talking about Mundy (he has him ranked as the 26th of 75 safeties)...Well now he's talking DEs... #16 Jared Allen Having signed with the Chicago Bears for 2014, Jared Allen could make a huge impact in helping rebuild a once great defense. Allen will join newcomers Willie Young and Lamarr Houston to give Chicago a solid, aggressive rotation at defensive end. #10 Willie Young Young isn’t well-known outside of the NFC North, but his physicality and the opportunity presented to him in Chicago give him the ability to launch himself onto the national radar in 2014. #6 Lamarr Houston One of the best all-around defens…

So the Bears had 3 huge trades this year, Mack, Quinn, then Smith. Besides creating a ton of cap space (which is hard to quantify), here is how the other teams are doing so far compared to what the Bears got/have: LAC - Mack, Wild Card loss, $27.5M AAV for 2 more years. BAL - Smith, Wild Card loss, $20M AAV for 5 more years. PHI - Quinn - 9 tackles, 1 sack, 1 game played since November 1st, 2023 UFA for Brisker, 2023 - 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th Due to comp picks, the Bears would not have gotten anything if they just let Quinn walk this offseason as they are projected to sign too many to get a comp pick, so getting anything for him was a great deal …
