Hey guys...just thought I'd fill you in on something I heard over the weekend. I was at an officiating clinic where there were several big names in college and the NFL. Officials mostly, but there were a few director of officials and assorted leadership there as well. Aside from a bunch of great football talk, I heard the following tidbit: Just in case the labor problems continue, the NFL already has an 8 game schedule in place for the following season. I was just looking back at the schedule in retrospect, and damn this is going to be a rough year no matter what coaches are hired. The Bears have games against 3 of the toughest divisions in the NFL, NFC East, AFC East, and their own. Half of their games will be against teams that made it into the play offs this year. They of course play the Packers and Vikings twice. They will host the Eagles, Patriots, and the Jets. Plus, they will travel to the Cowboys this year. I'd hate to call the Lions a give me game. I found an article on WindyCityGridiron.com: Chicago Bears 10 Positions of Need in 2024, non QB edition It lists 10 positions of need, not including QB in the argument. These all have been discussed on the forum by our posters, but it is a nice breakdown with reasons behind the selections. Good arguments were made for each position listed. New draft order; same ole draft strategy. These are all 3 round mocks with the goal to gain thirteen prospects between this and the extra picks I gain in 2025. All drafts must have a top flight prospect and ideally an extra number one in 2025.

I saw this tweet by Melton and wondered if it could mean he was asked to line up outside at DE... Pretty random tweet unless he was asked about it, and this wasn't in response to any ones question. Couple this with the fact that Tucker apparently likes bigger run stuffers in the middle and it could make sense. Could they add a massive DT to their list of draft needs?? Jesse Williams in the first would be a dream, Kwame Geathers in the 4th would be more realistic. How sexy would a Peppers-Paea-Williams-Melton front 4 look??? With Melton playing the Izzy role where he occasionally moves inside to give Wootton and SMC some snaps.

Bears third-string QB Matt Blanchard has been diagnosed with a fractured knuckle. Although the injury is to Blanchard's left (non-throwing) hand, it severely dents his roster chances. Coach Marc Trestman hinted the team will sign another quarterback. The Bears worked out JaMarcus Russell, Trent Edwards and Jordan Palmer earlier this summer. Considering Jay Cutler's recent fragility, we'd guess the Bears would like to carry three quarterbacks.
