Killing time watching some video of safeties and figured I'd share my thoughts. Collins of course is a good player just don't think he's worthy of a top 10 pick. If we pick a safety I don't think it will happen until Rd 3 at the earliest and likely on day 3. I just watch some games on Draft Breakdown and read profiles. I'm off the Damarius Randall (ASU) bandwagon. He has good athleticism and coverage skills but he's soft and misses too many tackles. The number one skill I want from a safety is the ability to tackle. Mike Brown was slow but you knew if it was just him back there he'd make the tackle. Jacquiski Tartt…Samford. For his size/speed combi…

I need some feedback from our resident draft gurus. I did a bit of research on safeties in the draft and was surprised to see what appears to be a very thin group this year in terms of talent. I favor the draft analysis at the links below because their player profiles seem to be very accurate when guys get to the next level. If these guys are right, there are a couple prospects at the top and then the drop off is very rapid to day 3. There just doesn't seem to be a lot to choose from between Rd 2/3. This does not seem to be the right year to be going into a draft needing help at both safety positions. Maybe that's why we threw so many bodies at the SS position. …

What's everyones thoughts on our safety position right now. Per reports: - Mike Brown is looking great, and finished OTAs w/ picks in each of the last two days. Insiders say the defense simply looks so much better w/ him on the field. I think we all know this, and the only question is whether he can stay healthy. - McGowan seems to have the SS position right now. Suprisingly, reports are of his beating out Daniel Manning. His beating DM is not a shock so much as who has not be involved at SS thus far. - PFW says the team doesn't appear to know exactly what to do w/ DM. Is he is a safety or nickel DB? They say he is getting the majority of his looks n…

Cowboys | Safety Roy Williams released Thu, 05 Mar 2009 07:43:24 -0800 Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports the Dallas Cowboys have released S Roy L. Williams after not being able to trade him. Williams confirmed his release Thursday, March 5. His release will save the team about $2 million against the salary cap. Is he worth a look? I haven't seen many Cowgirl games lately so not sure if he can still tackle since he can't horsecollar people anymore...

Amos started as a rookie and it assumed he will continue as the starter at one spot, but who gets the other? Harold Jones-Quarty started the last 4 games and had some good moments and will be given the spot until one of the rookies unseat him. He had 25 Ts, 2 PD and one interception. Also a FF. Amos had 2 PDs and no interceptions in 16 games. I think Amos starts but will be in the box and Jones-Quarty starts at FS. The possibility exists that by the end of the year Bush could be our SS and Howard-Carson could be our FS. The thing we need on defense is playmakers and Amos didnt really provide that for us last year. Bush could take playing time …

Interestingly he seems a little concerned about the saftey position, but that the draft is kinda weak for it. Bears | Zbikowski scheduled to visit with team Mon, 14 Apr 2008 14:49:00 -0700 Vaughn McClure, of ChicagoSports.com, reports Notre Dame S Tom Zbikowski is scheduled to visit with the Chicago Bears at Halas Hall Wednesday, April 16. Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said this year's class of safeties is anemic but the team could use help at the position. Zbikowski is capable of contributing on special teams.

The Bears are the sixth team in the last seven years to have failed to make the playoffs after losing the Super Bowl the year before. So how do we finish this disappointing season? Do we finish the season with 2 wins in a row, something we have not done all year? Do we finish with a loss? What is your guess on the score and player performances? What do you want to see in this game while we prepare for a long off season?

  14. Home Dogs for this one. There is a good chance Michael Thomas misses this game. If that happens, the Saints leading WR is Sanders. The only real threat is Kamara who has 75 rushes and 46 receptions. He has to be contained. The Saints defense has allowed 23, 34, 37, 29, 27, and 24 to start the season. They have needed 27 or more to win a game which favors the Bears. After a demoralizing loss, I think the Bears come in pissed off and grind out a tough win. Bears 27-23

Came across this via another forum. Gives some perspective on some of the issues facing Trubisky as he learns the NFL. It's also clear why Gentry has trouble getting open. Too many steps in and out of his cuts and he'll need to be more precise to survive in the NFL.

  17. So you're saying there's a chance? Brees not playing, Kamara may be limited? Early line has us favored by 3, so we are even on a neutral site. For as good as NO's record is, they have been very inconsistent. The team has scored over 30 3x, and 13 or less 3x. No in-between. On defense, the same thing. They have allowed 24 or more 4 times and 10 or less twice. All 5 of their wins have been by a TD or less, so they are in close games all the time. Their point differential is only +6 in 6 games, which is fairly pedestrian. I think we rebound and come out of the bye with a win at home. We need this game a lot more than the Saints do. I am thinking the Bears 16-13.

It's not signed sealed or delivered yet, but it sounds like Dennis Allen is our likely DC. He's been a head coach twice, so it's not likely he will get another head coaching job soon. He's an aggressive coach who wont sit back in zone all the time. We will live and die by this, but at least our players will get the chance to compete and dominate. Here's an article about his scheme that goes pretty deep in details. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-new-orleans-saints-dennis-allen-defense-buccaneers-tom-brady-week-15-2021

  19. What a joke. That explains the hits on Cutler and Earl Bennett back in week 2 when they were blitzing all over. I can't believe how anyone on that staff could go along with trying to get their guys to send their opponents off in a cart and then pay them for it. Sean Peyton, I've lost all respect for you. I wonder what Goodell is going to do. You have to think there is going to be a loss of draft picks. A huge fine is not enough and won't get teams to stop doing this. I can't say that I'm surprised by this though. The Saints have been notoriously dirty ever since Greg Williams was their coordinator. They need to investigate Detroit now..

Not that the Bears were making any effort to go after Stinchcomb, but damnit anyway. The only offensive-tackle available that would be an upgrade over St. Clair is Khalif Barnes. Here's the article from PFT: With Florio covering all the stories you care about, let's get caught up on the ones you don't. The Saints have agreed to a five-year deal to bring back right tackle Jon Stinchcomb. Once considered an injury-prone second-round bust, Stinchcomb turned his career around in 2006 under Sean Payton. After starting no games in his first three seasons, Stinchcomb has started 48 straight since. The somewhat surprising move means that former Jagua…
