Pix - Please note these aren't my positions on these matters but I think I can sum it up... 1.) While most realists expected 10-6 a solid year for this team, most football fans may pretend to be realists on the outside but deep down everyone hopes for perfection. Seeing a team from last year with a 9-7 record only improve 1 game to this year after adding Cutler just wasn't enough for most fans. Urlacher and Tommy were supposed to be MUCH better this year due to health. 2.) Our one loss was to the Packers and we lost in a very disappointing fashion. It made a lot of people think of last season and how we found ways to lose. 3.) Many saw Forte as a su…

Vikings will do "offseason study" of Peterson's fumbles Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 27, 2010 8:31 AM ET Minnesota's final two losses of the season had something in common: costly Adrian Peterson fumbles. The annoying tendency turned into a full-blown meltdown in the NFC Championship, and Vikings coach Brad Childress admitting that fixing the issue is an offseason priority. "He needs to hold on to it, but I'm sure he and [running backs coach Eric Bieniemy] and our offensive staff will do a good job of kind of troubleshooting that and seeing what we can come up with," Childress said. Perhaps Childress watched PFT Daily before his presser, beca…

David Kaplan asked a number of softball questions as one would expect, but Loyd really impressed me from a PR standpoint. He interviewed extremely well and was very humble. He comes off as a genuinely respectful young man. He wants to bulk up to 255 and contribute in any way possible. He seems to just want to play football and help the team win. I liked what I saw. Welcome to the Bears Mr. Floyd! Now, go kick some ass!

Here is what I want, and I'm being completely serious. 4th-Pick Desmond King. If he's not available, which is likely, I want to double down on OT. Sharpe, Davenport, Johnson. Pick 2 of 3. 5th-Ryan Switzer, WR, UNC. Seriously. I've been singing his praises for months. Great possession WR. Unguardable. Fearless returner. Trubisky' favorite target. 6th-If King was there in round 4, pick Chad Wheeler, OT, USC. Otherwise, Draft secondary. Kazee still available? 7th-Chad Kelly-Hey, Glennon is obviously gone after this year.

Quarterbacks (3): Mike Glennon, Mark Sanchez, Mitchell Trubisky. Grade: B- (immobile top 2 hurt the group, until Trubisky starts, then A) Running backs (4): Tarik Cohen, Benny Cunningham, Jordan Howard, Taquan Mizzell . Grade: A- (I like this group, good mix of skills, Cohen the wild card) Fullbacks (1): Michael Burton. Grade: C+ (meh, zone blocking uses one) Receivers (6): Josh Bellamy, Deonte Thompson, Markus Wheaton, Kevin White, Kendall Wright, Tre McBride. Grade: D- (w/o Meredith we have no true #1 unless White steps up and performs like his draft status) Tight ends (4): Daniel Brown, Zach Miller, Adam Shaheen, Dion Sims. Grade: B+ (Decent versa…

Bears could look to trade a linebacker Apr 23 4/23/2010 12:45:09 PM | More There is a feeling in the locker room that the Bears could consider trading one of their linebackers to recoup a draft pick according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. What a veteran linebacker would bring in return isn't clear right now. The Bears have seven veteran linebackers and that could be one or two too many after Pisa Tinoisamoa re-signed to compete for the starting job on the strong side. Nick Roach, a restricted free agent who signed a tender for $1.684 million, and veteran Hunter Hillenmeyer, who is due to earn $1.7 million this season, could also be shopp…

Big and fast: Louis is also a versatile and athletic young prospect. The 6-2, 303-pounder played tight end his first two seasons at San Diego State before being moved to right guard in 2007 and right tackle in 2008. In San Diego for the NFL owners meetings, Angelo attended a workout the Bears had set up with Louis. “He ran a 4.75 at around 300 pounds,” Angelo said. “I’ve never seen a guy that big since (former NFL offensive lineman) Randall McDaniel run that fast, and when he ran that fast, he was about 275 pounds. “[Louis] has some special traits. We even threw passes out of the fullback position just to give him a look there. He’s a pretty good athlete, s…

The wind has completely been taken out of my sails... I'm sure it'll pass, but this loss is one of the most wrenching ones I can ever recall. It just served as a harbringer of "no hope/no future". The Bears destroyed themselves. Bad teams always figure out ways to lose. At least there, we're good at something. We're great at losing. I saw no bright spots. Yeah, the D played good against another horrid O. But everything is sour. Only Briggs played with true passion. He was livid out there. I am mentally planning for the next few years to enjoy the kicking greatness that is Robbie Gould, and watching Lance Briggs tackle. Other than that, I …

So I've tried to put together one last mock, using (for the most part) players the Bears have been linked to in the past few weeks. I used CBS Sports' rankings as a rough guide for where each prospect will be available, and I've linked each guy to his profile on their site, except for Mike Mitchell, who doesn't have one. All right, enough said, here's what I'd like to see on draft weekend: 2.49) Juaquin Iglesias - WR - Oklahoma Simply catches everything thrown to him. Hands are almost on par with Robiskie/Nicks. Fast enough to get separation, but still goes 6'1" 210 lbs. Projects well to either a #2 or slot receiver, giving the Bears some flexibility if Bennet…

Here is some information out there about our pick. I have read where NE and Packers would have taken him with picks. Good draft company Players in the top 13 sackers in the league last year, playing DE Allen/6-6 270/Idaho State Babin/6-3 267/Western Michigan Long/6-3 270/Virg Avril/6-3 260/Pru C. Clemons/6-3 254/Geo T. Cole/6-3 270/Cinn Our pick has similar size with some of the best pass rushers in the league last year. Some are from not major schools. DEs similar in the draft Ingram- play either DE or OLB I think the Bears may have him rated higher, but he wasnt there when we picked. Meculis- play either DE or OLB Almost identic…

I kept seeing the media talk about how the preseason record doesn't necessarily correlate to regular season success. So I thought about looking at it from something else that is a good measure of success over time (score differential). So I looked at all teams which allowed 40 or more points than their opponents in the preseason and see how they fared in the regular season (and I think there is some correlation there). Take a look: 2015 PIT -49 (10-6, WC) NO -47 (7-9) STL -45 (7-9) 2014 BUF -41 (9-7) KC -48 (9-7) DAL -56 (12-4, DIV) CHI -41 (5-11) 2013 JAX -51 (4-12) SD -44 (9-7) TB -49 (4-12) ATL -43 (4-12) 2012 NYJ -57 (6-10) …
