http://www.chicagobears.com/news/chalk-tal...cc-2f344c226106 The Bears assigned numbers to their rookies on Thursday and first-round pick Leonard Floyd was given No. 94. Here are the numbers the other draft picks were given: Guard Cody Whitehair (65), defensive end Jonathan Bullard (69), linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski (44), safety Deon Bush (26), cornerback Deiondre' Hall (32d), running back Jordan Howard (24o), safety DeAndre Houston-Carson (36) and receiver Daniel Braverman (83). From what I understand, Floyd’s No. 94 is pretty much set in stone. But the other rookies could change their numbers after the 53-man roster is set the week leading into the regular-season ope…

A couple weeks in and getting ready for our first preseason game. Trying to summarize what I've read about the team so far. Offense: QB: Cutler no INTs or fumbles to date. One would think the addiction withdrawal symptoms would take over sooner than later causing a couple turnovers. Clausen hasn't done much but his reps have been limited so far and he'll get his best practice during the preseason games. Not sure what is going on with Fales but Carden is not an NFL QB. Will we keep two QBs or three? Oline: Bushrod is still Bushrod but on the other side of the line Mills has struggled often in camp. Leno has shown some flashes as a backup but co…

I read on Profootballtalk.com that odds of Donta Whitner/FS/Buffalo staying on the team on slim. He was a 6th pick in the 2006 draft and havent lived up to expectations for the team. Could he revive his carrer as a Bear? I think it would be a low end risk to obtain him, and give it a shot. Offer them a 6th pick? They will problem just cut him anyways.

The New York Giants didn't go with the familiar name for their offensive coordinator position. The team announced Tuesday that Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo is their new leader on offense. So does that weaken the Packers? Bears free agent defensive end Corey Wootton recently had arthroscopic hip surgery to correct a problem that had caused the four-year NFL veteran discomfort for the past two years, this according to a press release issued on Monday by Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, the location where Wootton underwent the procedure sometime last week. Does this make him a better player next year? The Detroit Lions hired Baltimore offensive coo…

  7. I knew they had been bad, but not this bad. Guess Dave Toub was really a genius after all.. Joe D will be out of a job at the end of the year if this keeps up.

I look forward to Fangio's weekly updates. He's so straightforward with his words it's sometimes funny. His matter-of-fact approach when talking about the players is never far off from what you'd read here on the board. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-1...f3-172828460cb5 ... on Houston ------------------------- "[The sacks] were huge plays," Fangio said. "Now if we can just eliminate the offsides, he'll play even more and more. But that should do a lot for his confidence, to go in there and make plays at a crucial time like that." -------------------------- From the same link the most surprising statistic I've seen at midseason: -------…

I predict we trade up to # 45 or so and take Nate Allen. We get a much later 3rd rounder and grab John Asamoah OG

...this was a good win. Why you ask? The Bears LOST the turnover battle. They seemingly never win when they lose that. Detroit averages 31 ppg at home which is pretty damn good. They have a great redzone efficiency rate. The Lions are great in the last 2 minutes of a half. Don't look to Sunday and get down. The Bears play well at home and the Patriots were tied with Detroit after 3 quarters on Thanksgiving. Bear Down

I have a question that I've been thinking about for a few weeks. Is Chester Taylor tipping off plays? Clearly his performance hasn't been good in the second half of the season and when you compare his numbers to Forte's they are headed in opposite directions. I definitely think Taylor himself is not running well as he doesn't seem to be hitting the hole very decisively. However, he also seems to face more tacklers in the backfield than Forte does. Seeing that everyone else out there is the same why are defenses seemingly so good at keying on Taylor's runs? Is it just his hesitation, Martz' play calling, or is his alignment pre-snap giving defenders a clue whe…

  12. I dont know if it is too soon to look at how far this team came but that is what im going to do! They were picked to finish 3rd in the NFC North. Made it to the NFC Championship game and really made it it a game with our 3rd string QB(really should be 2nd string). I went to every home game this year other then the first Seatle game and have a ton of great memories from this season. If i had to pick my favorite memory from this season it would prolly be Hester breaking the record! I love watching him return punts and kickoffs!!!! So if any of you are up to it lets make a list of the best of favorite memories form this past season!

  15. The criteria for this topic, is based on Watersfootball.com current mock draft. The 10 players I would most like to be Bears based on who is there with our first 3 rounds with only three picks. Our extra pick from the lost player thing I will be figuring to be a 4th round pick. I think there is alot of smart football people on this blog and a few dreamers. So the smart ones let me know your list so we can compare. I dont necessarily believe this mock is accurate just a basis for this topic. Macklin/WR Maualuga/LB Ayers/DE Britton/OT Nicks/WR Robiskie/WR Loadholt/OT Bryd/S Sidbury/DE Follett/LB

It was a nice sotry about the little girl and Rodger...but last I checked the game was in Chicago, not Green Bay/ Seriously, wasn't there a feel good story the Bears had that could have been showcased? BS Packers fulffery by the media.

With all the new information, I keep having a new thought everyday. For today:(tomorrow will probably be different) 1.....Hooker/FS potential game changer on defense 2.....Ryan Ramczyk/LT I think this should be a priority-drops because of a shoulder surgery 3.....Demarkus Walker/5T a high end player in a strong DL draft 4.....Brad Kaaya/QB has been suggested we are interested in him 4.....Brendan Langley/CB deep draft, big and active playmaker 5.....Eric Saubert /TE productive and fast 7.....Trent Taylor/WR productive slot WR This is based on getting in FAgency Jefferson/SS high end young guy Trumaine Johnson/CB upgrade and …
