Ya because he did such a good job as the DC that they figured he had way to much time on his hands so he can teach the LB's as well.

I finally got back into LA after the game yesterday, and celebrating at Ditka's afterwards! What a game! I've never seen that kind of offensive and ST outpouring of points! The D had me irritated for the first half, but the O was on time! As was the entrie ST crew! The crowd was really loud and really got behind the Bears. There were some boo's when Detroit scored on long drive, but justifiably so. SMith again made good adjustments at the half, yet couldn't again get it right on D at the beginning of the game. From looking at this just released schedule we are going to have another good year I'm thinking 11-5 again at least playing only seven teams with winning records and six playoff teams.. When Cliff was running the contract negotiations and salary cap I always liked the fact we had our draft picks signed early. This is just 7 of 11 and i realize rookie salaries are tightly bracketed but this is still a good start. IIRC we also had better FA contracts that were more front-loaded and tended to give us more flexibility later in the deal. This off-season my biggest cry was to fix the OL 1st. It was addressed in a big way with Williams, but has been ignored otherwise with a huge void in OG play. With our current situation playing out... When Vic Fangio was named to John Fox's staff, I wondered what was coming. Now with Eberflus coaching the Cover 2 defense, I have the same questions! Who on this roster fits this scheme? Our new GM has made it clear that he is going to build this team in step with his coach. I love this and I'm willing to wait on the results

I'm still not comfortable with McGown at a hit away from being the starter. Im looking at the Jets collection of qbs and got my eye on Mc Elroy. On the street after Trent Edwards there isn't much. Thoughts anyone?

The Bears will part ways with back-up quarterback Caleb Hanie and who would be a great cheap option? One site says the the Bears might look at a proven vet(I didn't say star) like Orton, Garard or even Grossman. Yes I know but it was a thought....lol. Grossman did get us to the Superbowl at least.

I watched the video clip about him and they mentioned him going in Rd 3. CBS draft board has him as a 5th Rd pick. I think we go QB in 4-5th Rd so Savage is a guy who should be on our radar.

I have watched the Bears over the years recently pretty much ignore the OL and since drafting Orton really not address a QB to develop. LeFevre(sp?) and Enderle aside, this team needs to do better than Campbell,McCown,Collins and Haney. I would like to see them use one of the 5 picks they currently have on a QB to develop. Why,because with a new coach considered a QB guru and Cutler entering the last year of his contract you have to protect yourself in case this staff doesn't feel Cutler is the one to lead this team.

Who is/are our backup QBS? Can we get a Brock Purdy-type with our last compensatory pick? Or will they go with a vet? And will his style be similar to Fields'? Just curious.

I think the Bears like Matt Blanchard as the #3, but we still need a capable #2. I can't see us spending the money it would take to get (or being a very enticing landing spot for) fringe starters like Kolb, who is apparently soon to be released, or Fitzpatrick, who already has been. Campbell had his chance here. Remaining candidates include Byron Leftwich (probably not a great fit), Brady Quinn (I could see it), or Kellen Clemons (snore). Am I crazy to think the best remaining realistic FA option is (gasp!) Rex Grossman? Or maybe we just wait to see who gets released after the draft?

Was listening to the score before the pregame and they gave me an idea. Bad Bears Bingo. I made a list of all the typical dumb things the Bears do in a course of a game and made up a bingo card of those things and as I see it happen on screen, I place a bingo chip LOL Might as well find a way to entertain myself while watching this disaster of a football team.
