At first thought I would say absolutely. But then I started to think and the evidence might tell you a little something about Cutler. Take a look. Before Cutler came into the starting lineup in 2006, Brandon Marshall had 6 rec 76 yards 1 TD through 12 games. Throughout the final 4 games of the year when Cutler came in, Marshall had 14 rec 233 yards and 1 TD. Over the course of the next two years Marshall recorded 206 rec 2590 yards and 13 TD's. So who made who? Was it Cutler or Marshall? I think Cutler was the reason for Marshall's improvement. Tony Scheffler who was also drafted in 2006, pre Cutler, he had 6 rec 75 yards and 0 TD's through the first 12 games o…

Zack Z is in Detroit for the big game and he ran into Plax at his Hotel. He asked Plax " If he had any contact from the Bears yet and stated Cutler has made several calls to him." Its not JA but something to think about.

Since our #49 pick is essentially our #1 pick, I'm curious to see who the mocksters have us taken. I found one updated mock but it still has us taking Duke Robinson. Not that I would mind seeing us take the Duke, but we've already added 3 good offensive lineman. We have far more pressing needs at WR, safety & DE.

I know it has been quoted that Holt has said he does not have interest in the Bears and therefore it seems highly unlikely we would land him but who ever thought we would sign Cutler?

Among the MANY things that come to mind once the shock settles in was the value Denver placed on Orton. Watching NFL Network, I think they were talking w/ Charlie Casserly. Pretty sure that's who it was. Anyway, he said there were several other teams very serious in the mix, but at the end, it came down to Orton. NYJ - They were willing to match picks, but Denver didn't care for their young, unproven QB prospects. Wash - Simply put. Casserly said Denver preferred Orton over Campbell, and by some measure. The feeling was Campbell was more similar (in terms of style) to Cutler, while Orton is more similar to Cassell, who he wanted all along. Minn…

Wanted to point out that NFLshops.com has a 15% off promotion and it includes jerseys. I think it would bring the price to the mid 60's on a replica Cutler jersey. I'm going to have to get one soon (want a white one) as I need to back up all the talking I did which indicated I would immediately buy a jersey if the Bears actually acquired Cutler. Coupon Code: NFLcBQG Just go to www.nflshops.com and add the jersey or whatever else into the site and you'll be set.

Cutler isn't wasting any time taking the reins of our offense. I'm not used to hearing this type of stuff from any Bears QB. From all I've read in the last two days the offensive players are lining up behind him too. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...mully05.article Much has been made about the Bears' lack of weapons at wide receiver, and certainly the team needs improvement. The team still has a second-round pick, and it should be used on a wide receiver. But rookies can't be counted on for immediate impact. The Bears learned that last year when third-rounder Earl Bennett never saw the light of day. Bennett is a close friend of Cutler from th…

Just for fun, I figured I'd take a look at what FAs might be available next year. According to KFFL (http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/features/freeagents/fa.php?option=WR&y=2010), the list includes: Chris Chambers Braylon Edwards Lee Evans Vincent Jackson Greg Jennings Brandon Marshall Derrick Mason Hines Ward Roddy White Some of those guys may have already signed extension that they haven't reflected yet, but that's a hell of a list right there. If Denver doesn't have a great year, you think Marshall's not running toward Chicago with both hands in the air? The problem, the much-anticipated "uncapped year" of 2010 will probably actually h…

So, onto day 2. Jerry Angelo has proven his ineptitude at grading Offensive talent once again. I too am sorry for the wasted 2nd round pick (way better picks still available at that time). However, the Bears open with two picks in the third round. Who do you like to try and pull this thing out? At QB - Brennan, Woodson, Ainge or ??? How about at WR? It looks as though there are few Hawaii WR's still available...could that mean something??? Or how about Early Doucet??? He is still there. Speaking of "still there" and from LSU..how about Jacob Hester? He could be a FB pick and put in the backfield in tandem with Benson. That would be an interesting combo. …

In a response to an email on ChicagoBears.com Mayer came up with an interesting explanation as to why we got a good deal with the trade for Cutler. 1st, he says, and I can not disagree, that if Cutler were to be put into the draft in 2009 he would be the clear cut, by a landslide, #1 selection of the draft as he is a proven probowl quality NFL QB. By using the dradt selection chart: http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/pick_value_chart.htm the first round selection is worth 3000 points. Our first round pick this year is valued at 900 points. Our 3rd round selection is valued at 170 points. That totals 1070 points. Let's assume we really sucked as…

There is always something missing from the glass chicago. I choose to trust it will be filled with something and it might be enough to be satisfied without being full. I choose to look at what we have. -Hester is fast and capable of magnificent things. He scares opponents. Jay can get him the ball... -Olsen may be the biggest secret weapon we have and I am interested to see him show up. -Forte, able to do it all and makes it look good. I think he can keep doin it. -Pace, Williams, Kreutz, and a RT that has done it before. -Marinelli, known to be "the best" D Line coach there is. -Pro bowl players on Defense, where infusion of youth…

2. Juaquin Iglesias, WR, Oklahoma ---I love this guy. For some reason, I think he'd fit in well here. 3. Matt Shaughnessy, DE, Wisconsin ---A DE for Marinelli to toy with. 4. Sebastian Vollmer, OT, Houston ---Pace is old and often injured, and who knows about Williams. OT is still a ened. 5. Chip Vaughn, S, Wake Forest ---S depth to go with Earl, Bowman, Manning, Steltz, and Bullocks. 5. Coye Francies, CB, San Jose State ---Walterfootball and I agree- this guy has so much pure talent it's ridiculous. 6. Tony Fiammetta, FB, Syracuse ---Best FB in the draft, IMO. 7. Jeremy Childs, WR, Boise State ---WR depth. 7. John Gill, DT, Northwestern ---…

Last time I posted I got a little riff for being negative on our Bears being stagnant with the fa market. Listen I don't post a lot but when I do I call it as i see it. I knew if we went into the season with what we had, There was little hope that we would go far into the playoffs. I would even go as far to say it would be hard to win our division. Now with the recent moves I see hope. Hope that I was asking for in the likes of a all pro QB and and that all pro OL. Yes, Pace might be up in age and have health issues but it's an upgrade. And yes it's only a stop gap. We can't solve all our problems in single off season but it's a start. It seems that m…

I think lost in all this is Matt Forte. He now has a real QB. Look I like Kyle and I wish him all the best in Denver. But Cutler's ypa is almost 8 while Orton's was almost 6. I know Cutler here won't have the weapons but Orton also won't go there and have a Matt Forte. Anyways, I think this opens it up even more for Forte. He now probably won't get as many touches through the air which should give him a rest a bit but a playaction will open it up big time for Cutler, and a draw will open it up big time for Forte. I just wanted everyone's thoughts on this.
