  1. Now that we all know, let's fix it. The great rebuild is what we thought it would be. Painful. While I'm good with the pain, I'm not good with how it's being dispensed. I get the feeling that Poles and Eberflus are using this season to evaluate Fields instead of develop him. That being said, they are probably trying to see what he's good and bad at, so they can put the appropriate talent around him to succeed. What I want them to do is gameplan around what he does best for him to succeed. It's a subtle difference that can have a happy medium. This off season is going to be a monster and Poles has to be licking his chops. Don't doubt for a second that Field…

Does anyone have an idea what our cap space is like now? With Rex, Des, A.Brown signed and Orton, Berrian(hopefully) soon to follow we can't have an awful lot left for a big FA signing like Faneca/Bell/Scott(OG's). The rookie pool will also cost about 5 million. LT or NFO please help

LOVIE SMITH CHICAGO BEARS Considering most league observers predicted before the season that the Bears would be hard-pressed to crack the .500 mark, Smith deserves an above-average grade. Often criticized for his bland, low-key demeanor, he deserves credit for keeping his team fired up during its last-ditch drive to make the playoffs. Offensive coordinator Ron Turner has done a nice job this season handling a unit with limited resources, and a strong case could be made for Dave Toub as the league's best special-teams coach. But the late breakdowns by Bob Babich's uneven defense in losses to the Panthers, Buccaneers, and Falcons were inexcusable. Grade: B-mi…

The Bears Core is looking pretty good, as long a players develop JA will keep this team in good shape. Players in RED are ones that JA will have to decide on extending Players in GREEN are players if they step up big, can get rewarded early. The way I see it coming, the Bears will be working on extending Mike Brown if he stays healthy and Brandon McGowan if he produces. Grossman will get franchised only if he produces just to see if he can do it again. If Kevin Jones produces, he'll command a high salary and I just can't see the Bears giving it to him. If Brandon Lloyd produces, this may likely get done b/c I think Lloyd will be looking for long term secur…

Not a bad haul. I was 0-4 on the picks though lol. Colston Loveland, TE Luther Burden, WR Ozzy Trapilo, OT Shemar Turner, DT An offense of Williams, Swift, Moore, Odunze, Burden, Kmet, Loveland is kind of insane. Kmet may end up as the Bears 5th pass catching option. I think Tyler Scott is a cut candidate, same with Pickens now that they drafted Turner. The trade down helped out a lot, the Bears got their guys and their 4th rounder back where they can go RB or S, I would assume.

  8. The Bears just HAVE to get away from that quick 20 yard sideways pass to a wide receiver right after the snap. I don't know what this play is called but it needs to be SCRAPPED!!!!!! I hate it. How many times did Carolina almost pick that thing. The Bears get 5 yards TOPS on that thing....stupid.

The Bears hired Jennifer King as the assistant RB coach. Been in the NFL a few times working for Ron Rivera at Carolina and last year at Washington. I joke but it's nice women at least get chances at becoming serious football coaches. Note: not a former player.

  10. Apparently Marcus Freeman has an enlarged heart, just like Gaines Adams did. His EKG at the Combine was abnormal, so he got a second one. The Bears' doctors either didn't catch his heart condition or didn't think it was a problem (the article doesn't specify,) but when Freeman went to the Colts for a tryout, their doctors said he couldn't safely continue playing. Seriously, I know that awareness of cardiomyopathy among NFL players is just starting to increase, and that these kinds of conditions can be hard to catch in athletes, but it's pretty inexcusable for the Bears' doctors to have missed the diagnosis on both Adams and Freeman. Both these guys passed their ph…

Stanford Routt was cut by the Radiers to save money. The Bears need to sign this guy and cut Bowman and Jennings. Routt is 6'1 195lbs and runs a 4.3 40 yard dash. He is clearly better than either Jennings or Bowman. Also he is a cover guy.....meaning he can cover WR'S and not just let them run free.

  12. Over my many years of watching Bears football I have had some real highs and a whole lotta lows but when it comes to me spiking the Bears cap on the ground or chucking it at the tube one player made me sicker than anyone when I watched his constant miscues. That was Lew Barnes who was a WR/returner on I think the 87 Bears team. He was an adventure each return and you didn't know if he would cleanly field the punt, take it to the house or fumble it after running 30 yards with it.That year I think the Bears were 12-4 and hosted the Skins at Soldier's Field in the playoffs. The Bears had two critical fumbles in the game one by Payton and the other from Barnes late in the game …

When I left training camp this summer I was preaching gloom and doom! The team started to win some unexpected games and I got false hope because what I forgot to remember was that depth after starters was going to be a problem. Jeremey Langford also made me forget because he looks like the future at RB. The problem is that when we as fans need to have the Bears website open to the roster to figure out who is on the field at the beginning of games points back to my original thoughts back in the summer. I personally hope that they shut down everyone that has had nagging injuries and truly find out who needs to be here going forward! With all the 1 year contracts this could…

I remember a few years back, most likely on the other board, a lot of people were saying (me included) that the Bears are trying to model themselves after the New England Patriots. This was brought up because the Bears weren't targeting big name FA's. The Patriots were winning Superbowls left and right, built there team through the draft, plugged holes with either mid level FA's or older vets that wanted to come for a shot at a title. When one of their players became a nuisance about getting more money, they let that player go. Now after thinking about that thread, I look at what the Patriots have been doing the last two years. It seems like they have flipped t…

Facts: 1. The Bears need QB, LT, CB, S, DE, WR, TE 2. This is a very weak QB draft. 3. This is a very weak OL draft. Kiper and McShay agree (on QB too). 4. Myles Garrett will be gone when the Bears pick. 5. When the Bears pick there will likely be a choice of the leftover QB (Kizer or Trubinsky), Leonard Fournette, and Marshon Lattimore, besides two Alabama players (Jonathan Allen / Cam Robinson). If Allen is there, I think it's a no-brainer. Aside from Garrett, he's probably the best overall player in the entire draft. And he fits the 3-4DE position perfectly. If Allen isn't there, pretty much everyone at that point feels like a slight reach.…

  16. Which position/area would you like the Bears to focus a little more love on? Or, put another way, which position/area could the Bears draft multiple players and get your support? Two at QB, WR, OT, CB, S? What about three for the secondary? With all the talk about S in the first, I was wondering if the tolerance level had risen to where a surplus would be accepted. I think I would be OK with a draft that went extra heavy in the secondary. Find a problem, address the problem. Period. 1. Malik Hooker, S, OSU 2. Adoree Jackson, CB, USC 3. Jordan Leggett, TE, CLEM 4. Damontae Kazee, CB, SDST 4. Obi Melifonwuo, S, UCONN 5. Chad Kelly, QB, MISS…

The Chicago Bears signed T Cory Brandon and CB Cornelius Brown. Brandon entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of Oklahoma in 2011. The 6-7, 324-pound offensive lineman spent the 2011 preseason with the Buccaneers appearing in all four preseason contests as a reserve tackle but was waived on September 3. Brown originally joined the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2010 out of the University of Texas-El Paso. He was waived by the Bears after the 2010 preseason and signed to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad. The 5-11, 198-pound cornerback was elevated to the Colts active roster in November of the 2010 season and appe…

I know this could have went in other threads, but honestly it's its own subject. It's not about Trestman screwing the pooch and it's not about McCown being Gannon 2.0. This thread is going to start with bare facts about the Bears 2 QB's. I'll be looking at 11 games specifically. I'm throwing out the Redskins game as they split the time there. Points scored by the offense per game: Cutler: 22.4 McCown 21 Passing yards per game: Cutler: 268.9 McCown: 292.8 Rushing yards per game: Cutler: 98.3 McCown 122.5 Defensive turn overs per game: (minus ones that went for a TD) Cutler: 1.86 McCown: 0.75 (following stats are for the year) On 3rd or…
