Guys...take it for what it's worth... THE OFFENSE 1) Turner still out-thinks himself. I called more Bears' plays before they happened than I care to mention. If I can do it, surely the other teams can do it. That's the major reason, IMHO, why the Bears offense is not scary. It's very rarely a surprise. The majority of the time when our offensive players do well, it's in spite of Turner, because the plays are very predictable. 1a) Playing AP makes no sense. Kevin Jones is active; let him get the carries when resting Forte. 1b) Booker drop, Hester at least on drop. I am sick of this argument that the other WRs can't "crack the starting lineup". At a certa…

from some who was there: 1 - Unbelievably cold and windy. I'm not sure how it looked on TV but the wind was really swirling. The weather was our best friend today as Favre looked like he wasn't interested in playing in this weather. 2 - Orton had a nice game. Would have looked better if Moose hadn't dropped a TD. 3 - Play of the game was the screen to Wolfe which led to the TD at the end of the half. This completely changed the momentum. 4 - Nice to see the o-line actually make some holes for the running game. Let's do that again next week. 5 - Dave Toub is my favorite coach on this team. He knows how to adjust and take advantage of his talent. Two …

First and foremost I saw something I hadn't seen all last year and that was an NFL offense in a Bears uniform. Everyone seems to be focused on the mistakes, and there were too many, but still against the Broncos defense our offense belonged on the field. I especially liked how much pressure the Broncos brought on many plays. They mixed up all sorts of pressure packages and coverages and this was excellent for our offense to learn against. For the majority of the plays Trubisky looked like he was in command of things and comfortable in where he should go with the ball. Nothing showed that more than the play where they blitzed heavy off the right side and the Olin…

Watching the game last Sunday, I was pleasantly surprised with the play of Josh Beekman. I never saw him pancake anyone, but his performance was solid. The main things I noticed were his quick feet and vision.(particularly when pulling) He's not the road grader type I like, but I think he's going to be a long term player for us. If you asked me about him three weeks ago, I woulld have been indifferent.

There are many good players on this team, so let's fix it. My thoughts are simple and always have been. We start by fixing the OL. Spend two high draft picks on OL. Spend one on QB. After that, draft speed on D. Clearly, Nagy has struggled this year and nobody is looking at Helfrich. I suggest Nagy hire a more conservative OC to balance his mad scientist style. I believe Helfrich is not a counter balance. Then, Nagy has to listen. On defense, Pagano needs to find his inner Fangio on defense. We heard how aggressive Pagano is. I haven't seen it. Lastly, stop trading up. It rarely works and sends an instant message to the drafted player saying,…

He just came out of the closet....Wondering how you old school guys feel about this. Some quotes from anonymous NFL front office people think this hurts his draft status. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-f...am-draft-stock/ There WILL be meathead fans that will get on him if he struggles, and the media is sure to be all over him for awhile....As long as he has thick skin I think he'll be just fine. I think he can hang at DE but would be more of an ideal fit as a rush LB....If the Bears run some sort ofhybrid, I really wouldn't mind drafting him if he ends up falling to the 4th round. He can back up his teammate Kony Ealy as the hybrid DE/OL…

This was just a odd draft. I was so happy after the Cutler deal, that I found myself defending Angelo's picks as often as not. Hey, he is my BFF afterall With that said, Gilbert - I flat out did not want to draft DT early, much less w/ our first pick, but just can not argue this pick. In Gilbert, we got a huge value. Kiper called Gilbert the best value pick in the draft. Seems like an ideal fit for our scheme, and when I think about what Marinelli can do w/ him, well, I just love the potential here. Iglesias - I flat out didn't expect Angelo to want the same receiver I wanted. Not only did he draft Iglesias, but he was also high on Robiskie. Shocking An…

Okay, been talking about the WRs, but wanted to put a similar discussion out there for the secondary. How do you see it playing out (staff's view). How would you like to see it play out? Okay, the starters at corner are pretty well locked. They are switching sides, but I doubt there will really even be competition here. Depth? Well, that is one big cluster @#$#. If a starter goes down, I just do not see Jennings and his 5'8 (probably with shoes) frame stepping up. I have read Graham is again working at CB, and has been looking good through OTAs, not that that means too much. I have not heard much about the rookie Moore, and as for the other Moore, he could …

Just some random thoughts on the game - Cutler again looked comfortable and his mechanics and decision making was good only really rushed one throw, and the pick was not his fault. I've been pretty pleased with Jay's performance thus far. - Roy Williams... the pick was your fault 100% the ball hit you in the hands and was picked off A couple nice catches but you have got to catch the ball in traffic and especially if it hits you in the hands. - I'm a little concerned about Gould's inconsistency this preseason, not sure how much of this is Maynard no longer being the holder but this has to get tightened up. It was nice to see him come back and hit on the …

other than the Cutler injury. - Besides being a special teams stud, Corey Graham looks like he could play nickel as well. - Charles Tillman is the best player in the NFL at forcing fumbles in the open field. He is simply outstanding at this. - Briggs looked great tonight. He is playing at an all-pro level. - Johnny Knox showed what he is capable of tonight. - Roy Williams has to do that the rest of the season if he wants to come back. - Kellen Davis has 20 receptions and 7 touchdowns in his career. He has a ton of talent but he needs to put it together. - Tyler Clutts has proven to be a great signing. Peace

Random thoughts from watching the Senior Bowl QBs... Graham Harrel flat out sucks and won't get drafted. I don't think I've ever seen a QB with a weaker arm, not even in high school. Rhett Bomar looked ok at times, seems to have enough arm strength to play in the league and showed some decent athleticism, his accuracy was way off on some plays. Comments like this in an interview make me think he "doesn't get it" and will drop below where his athleticism would put him: http://www.draftcountdown.com/interviews/R...Rhett-Bomar.php "Scott Wright: When scouts and NFL decision makers inevitably ask you about your time with the Sooners how are you go…

I talk about this briefly in another post, but after going to the game, I saw things I never saw (at least not to this extent). This is NOT a post to excuse Orton, or Turner, or anyone else. I am just talking about the WRs. First, everyone talks so much about Hesters speed, but what I saw yesterday, that speed is not realized. Does everyone realize just how much he gets jammed at the LOS? Worse, does everyone realize how difficult of a time he has beating the jam? I was a bit surprised by this, as receivers w/ upper tier speed are usually given more cushion, but Hester is shown little respect. Once he does get get off the LOS, he doesn't get separation. On the…

Just wondering what people think of him in general. I always thought he was pretty overrated, but I don't watch a ton of ND games. The reason that I ask is he seems like exactly the kind of player the Bears would draft, like they did with Garrett Wolfe last year, where he's a guy who has got a ton of attention in the area and has a high "name recognition" value at a position we are obviously hurting at. I would not be shocked to see Angelo draft him at the end of the third round. Is he as overrated as I think he is, or am I missing something?

  17. We, as fans, are always looking for that one player who will put us over the top. Among the many positions we have discussed, WRs often come up. Three WRs who have generated a lot of discussion are TO, Burress and Marshall. TO is out of the picture, but I am still keeping him in this question for the hell of it. Considering each, who is the WR you would most want. TO - Pure locker room cancer. Some have golf or hunting as a hobby, but TO's hobby is throwing his QB (and often coach) under the bus. He simply has a way on ruining chemistry in the locker room. On the other hand, he also has a way of simply dominating on the field. While many will point to his num…

We just played 3 of the top 5 teams. The team and the coaching staff have given us some reasons to be optimistic. They hung with GB. The offense looked good against AZ until Cutler got hurt The Defense looked great against Sea in the first half The Coaches in my opinion have already proved to be 10 times better then the last staff. This will be the first game against a team not ranked in the top 5!!!! We get Ratliff back!!!! Looks like Alshon will be back !!! If Cutler comes back that could be huge ????? I cant wait to see this team back to 100% and not playing a team like GB, AZ and SEA. Really will be happy with the team ge…
