  1. Chicago Tribune article: Fred Mitchell 10:38 p.m. CDT, May 3, 2013 The Bears have gone out of their way this offseason to find a reliable left tackle and to stabilize the entire offensive line. Meanwhile, last year's starting left tackle — J'Marcus Webb — has been spending the offseason trying to find himself and remain sober. The Bears signed free-agent veteran left tackle Jermon Bushrod and invested a first-round NFL draft pick on 6-foot-6, 313-pound guard Kyle Long, whom they think will be able to play either tackle position eventually. Several other offensive linemen have been acquired to generate competition during training camp. …

After Cutler came out and made statements about the OLine, Webb told the press he would be ready to play that all off season he has been "eating and drinking football" and has Cutlers back. It thats the case, last year he must have been on a fasting diet.

  4. 7:20pm, Sunday Night Football, September 9th, Bears +8, Over/Under 47.5, NBC This felt like the longest preseason ever! I am so ready for real football. Here is what I think about the Week 1 matchup with the Fudge Packers: Based on last year's numbers, the Bears have the better defense, and you could argue now have better RB's, WR's, and TE's. The Packers have Graham, Adams, Cobb, and Montgomery compared to Burton, Robinson, Miller, Gabriel, Howard, and Cohen. I am not even counting Shaheen or White. QB is probably the only position the Packers have a definitive edge and that difference is hard to quantify. Rodgers was hurt last year and came back…

  6. Started by adam,

Only 9.5 favorites for Week 1, those are pretty good betting odds in favor of the Bears. I see them winning by at least 10. Hard to see the game being closer than that. I am figuring at least 31 on offense, and I can't see the Colts breaking 20 unless there are some late garbage points. What do you think? I say Bears 34-17.

http://www.betvega.com/nfl/2009-week-1-nfl...eased-0769.html Bears are 3 point underdogs on the road to GBP. Not too surprised. http://www.betvega.com/super-bowl-odds.html Very little respect here, again, not too surprised. I would like to think we are going to kick some major ass this year with a revitalized defense and an Offense that will be for the first time in many years very capable of winning games and taking advantage of the field position our D and STs provide.

  8. Sunday Night Football Real football is finally here. Last year, the Rams beat the Bears 24-10 in Week 7 in Chicago. The offense had 3 points in that game. Foles had 2 INTs and was sacked 4 times. If Dalton starts, it is hard to see how we passed the Rams in the offseason, as they gained Stafford, and lost Goff and Akers (who didn't play against the Bears). So to me, if Dalton plays the entire game, the Bears lose by double digits. If Fields plays at least a half, we have a shot. Either way, I have this one as a loss. Prove me wrong Bears.

  9. We made it! Week 1 is almost here. Are you ready for some football. This is one of those polarizing games where a win could propel the Bears to something big, but a loss at home to the Packer without Rodgers will be a tough loss to recover from. The Packers are 0-5 in any game where Love had 5 or more passing attempts. In the two games where he had substantial playing time, they lost both and he put up these total numbers: Totals - 29-51, 324 yds, 56.8%, 6.4 Y/A, 2 TD, 3 INT One game average - 14.5-25.5, 162 yds, 56.8%, 6.4 Y/A, 1 TD, 1.5 INT I could care less about preseason or how he has looked in practice. The above stats are who he is until he…

  10. Minnesota will be without Jordan Addison for this one. On the injury front, we know the Bears will be without Booker. The team is still hopeful to have Jaylon Johnson back to match up with Justin Jefferson. Both of those two are dinged up right now. I could see a heavy dose of Aaron Jones and TJ Hockenson in Week 1. LBs will play a huge role in stopping them. The pros for the Bears is playing on MNF at home, Soldier Field should be electric. Getting off to a hot start is key. McCarthy is basically a rookie. Caleb played well against MIN last year all things considered, he had 531 passing yards (265 yds/g), 3 TD, 0 INT, and 5 sacks in two games against…

  11. LET'S GO! The Bears had the lead against the 49ers last year before the defense shit the bed. The Bears offense was completely broken last year and Fields still had a great game with some insane runs. The Bears lost 33-22 (Santos missed a PAT). With the new scheme and players, it is hard not to be optimistic because Nagy was that bad. I feel like the Bears offense will score more than 22, and the defense won't allow over 30 again. For my prediction, I am going with Bears 27 - 20. Fields, 65% comp, 285 yds passing, 60 rushing, 2 TDs passes, 0 INT, 0 fumbles, 2 sacks. Kmet and Blasingame with TD receptions Monty with rushing TD Bears win turnover b…

  12. Placeholder for Week 1 - SEA (Waldron's offense) beat TEN in Week 16 last season 20-17 in TEN. Geno Smith was 25-36, 69.4%, 227 yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 2 Sacks, 104.7 QB Rating. 18 receptions by WRs. SEA sacked TEN 6 times. TEN replaced Derrick Henry with Tony Pollard. If the Bears can stop Pollard, who is more of a dual threat than Henry, I think the Bears win handily.

  13. Started by adam,

Best on Offense: Lewis, Wright, and Johnson (Wright seems a little high, Johnson was the best player for sure) Best on Defense: Billings, Jackson, and Pickens (I don't buy the Jackson part, he got burned on a TD and looked like he was just running around in the secondary). Worst on Offense: Tonyan, Patrick, Claypool, Whitehair, and Davis (bad for Poles, 4 acquisitions underperforming) Worst on Defense: Green, Jones, and Edwards (that seems about right, Jones was terrible, they need to put Pickens or Dexter in there) So 7 of Poles free agent acquisitions in the last 2 years were in the bottom 8 in Week 1. Not good.

Week 1 Pics - Bears at Colts (29 - 13 WIN) Larger pics thru the thumbnails. I will do this weekly.

  15. This is a great first test with some joint practices. Those are always fun to see. Miami is very similar to the Bears, they finished 10-6, had a top 10 defense and a top 20 offense. The Bears had a slightly better defense and slightly worse offense. I think we have the edge on both sides of the ball this year. I would take the Bears units every time, thoughts? Tua/Brissett vs Dalton/Fields Gaskin/Brown vs Monty/Williams/Cohen Parker/Fuller/Waddle vs ARob/Mooney/Goodwin Gesicki/Shaheen vs Kmet/Graham/James

  16. Started by adam,

Crazy seeing some of these QB performances today. Flacco, thanks Trestman, was the worst starting QB this week. 18-32, 117 yards, 2 INT (1 Pick-6), and a 38.2 Passer Rating. Adding to that, they lost Suggs for the year. Manning looked equally horrible throwing a Pick-6 and ending with a 59.9 Passer Rating and 4 sacks. Rivers, even though he threw for 404 yards, had 2 horrible INTs (one in the endzone). Stafford had 2 picks (and a 3rd overturned) and could've probably had 5 INTs if the defense didn't drop them. Luck had 2 picks and did not look good against Buffalo Wilson had a pick and was sacked 6 times.

  17. Broncos to open with Raiders By Mike Klis The Denver Post Article Last Updated: 03/31/2008 11:12:38 AM MDT Palm Beach, Fla. — For starters, the Broncos will be the last to kick off. The Broncos will open their season with the late Monday night game Sept. 8 against their AFC West Division rival Oakland Raiders in the Black Hole. The NFL season will open Thursday, Sept. 4 with the Washington Redskins playing at the defending Super Bowl-champion New York Giants. The Sunday night game in week 1 will feature the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts. The first Monday night game will pit the Minnesota Vikings at the Green Bay Packers. The Bron…

  18. This feels like a must-win against a bad team. Flus teams normally win against bad teams at home, so this should be a win and some false hope. Then the remainder of the schedule hits. If the team that has (not) shown up for the last two weeks plays the rest of the year out, the NE game may be the final win. SF is getting healthy and SEA is not terrible. I would not be surprised with a 5-12 or 6-11 end of season record. Obviously they can figure things out and a team like GB may rest starters in Week 18, so the Bears could eek out another win or two to get to 7 or 8 wins, but that seems like the absolute ceiling right now. I will go with Bears 24-13 as I…

  19. The Bears are 5-3 playing at home (2-1), and the Giants are 2-7 (0-5 on the road), yet the Bears are only favored by 3? I fear that the refs will be heavily involved in this game. This shouldn't be a close game. Without Skattebo, the Giants leading rusher was Dart. So I would hope this makes it a little easier for the defense. I am going with Bears 30-17.

  20. The Bears need to win this to keep CAR in the running for the #1 pick. This might be CAR's only chance at winning another game. Will it be the return of Fields? Moore revenge game?
