I've been talking Bears and football with you guys for aprox. 6 years on 2 sites and know that I would follow you guys to the end of the internet LOL. For the past 5 years during draft time I have been producing a little generic draft guide based on what I can see on my TV during games and workouts that I can view. Thats why my partipation on this site during draft time has dwindled. I'm busy compiling my unscientific research typing it into my computer and then printing up a few copies for my co workers so they can follow the draft a little better than they would be able to through the newspapers they find in our lunchroom. So what I'm asking is why not all of…

On the move: Moving Cutler via designed rollouts was a key factor in last Sunday’s win over the Vikings and something that the quarterback hopes will remain in the game plan. “It was great,” Cutler said. “We’ve got to keep doing it. We’ve got to keep doing it in different ways, showing different looks; get off the spot as much as we possibly can because it helps with everything. It helps the pass rush, get some easy balls out to the flat, out on the outside lets the guys run. It’s got to be something in our offense that we do more of.” For as long as Cutler has been in the league his mobility has always been something those in the "know" have touted as one of hi…

That's easily the busiest time of year for this site. I do wonder if there will be the same excitement since the Bear's don't have a #1 pick. The draft starts at 2:00, which means we should make our first pick by 7:00 or something like that? As usual, I'm taking an "Al Bundy Vacation," which means I'll be roping off the area around the TV, and the wife & kid have to pretend I'm not there. I'm looking forward to the chat room.

By Brad Biggson March 16, 2009 12:21 AM | Permalink | Comments (14) | TrackBacks (0) With John St. Clair visiting the Cleveland Browns today it forces us to pose the question, what's next? If St. Clair signs with the Browns or another team, the already changing Bears' offensive line has another major question to answer--who plays right tackle? General manager Jerry Angelo could draft a tackle in the first round with the 18th pick and plan on plugging him in there from Day 1. He tried that last season and that didn't work so well with Chris Williams, although by all accounts he will be ready to go as the starting left tackle when minicamp opens Tuesday. T…

Serious question. The idea here is if the Bears decide to go all-in offensively. What do they need to be a top unit?

From the list below what are your top four moves that the Bears have made this year? January 3rd: The Bears let go long long time general manager Jerry Angelo. January 3rd: The Bears and offensive coordinator Mike Martz decided to part ways. January 28th: The Bears hired Phil Emery as their new general manager. March 1st: The Bears released DL Anthony Adams and OL Frank Omiyale. March 2nd: The Bears placed the franchise tag on RB Matt Forte which would pay him 7.7 million. March 12th: The Bears tendered a contract to RB Khalil Bell which would pay him 1.26 million. March 13th: The Bears re-signed CB Tim Jennings to a 2-year deal March 13th: The Bears ac…

Outside of Fields’ development, what are you looking for down the stretch here? Personally, I’m keen on seeing how the two tackles progress from here.

Just curious. FA is very near, w/ the draft not long after. Which aspect of the offseason are you all looking forward to more? Personally, I am looking more forward to FA. OL is our greatest need (not counting QB, where I see little major change), and is the position I think Angelo has seen more quality FAs added, while also being among his weakest positions in the draft. So much hinges on our upgrading the OL, and I think that will begin w/ FA. I am so interested to see how we attack the OL in FA, and believe it will have a major impact on the draft.

With Sunday approaching quickly, I'm curious as to type of offense and defense we will see heading into Game 1 against the Bengals. What I am expecting is to see the Bears come out in a wide variety of offensive formations to keep the defense on their heels. I expect to see a good chunk (maybe more-so later in the year) of the pistol, not in terms of the QB run, but in terms of play action passing. Martellus Bennett should be a huge factor if they choose to go that route, because the middle of the field will be wide open. I think we know by now that Matt Forte will become the focal point of the offense. I expect him to see a lot of touches as a runner and as a pass c…

The Bears can now trot out the following: QB: Cutler RBs: Forte, Bush WRs: Marshall, Bennett, Jeffery, Hester, Knox(?) TEs: Davis, Rodriguez There appear to be no excuses left over this year. What are your expectations for the offense? Top half of the league? Top ten of the league? What I do know is this: 2012 is the year we finally get to settle the age-old debate on TalkBears about whether amassing enough skill-position players can overcome a weak OL. Unless Webb has an epiphany, Louis turns better than average, Garza finds the fountain of youth, and the two high draft picks stay healthy, I think this will be yet another year where the Bears h…

I read more and more about this guy. He was an OG in college, but finished the year at LT. I am reading he is a stud OG, and many/most believe he can move to LT in the NFL he is so good. He is going to be a 1st round pick, but w/ such a solid OT class, he is more likely to last to the back half of the 1st round. I mentioned earlier about trading up into the late 1st. Could he be a target too. The more I read about him, the more I love. If you believe the writing, at worst, he is a stud OG. At best? He could be a stud LT. If we do not take a OT w/ our 1st pick, what about moving up and taking him next?

Every year I gush over a player or two and take things to an obssession at times, this year's object of the lemonej man crush is Amari Cooper. I think that he is a dynamic player and will be a star in the league. True this is not a position of need but some of the best teams in the league year in year out take the best player available and make it work. If Cooper falls to the Bears at 7 I say take him. Last Year I wanted Aaron Donald and he went before the Bears pick. I'm hesitant to tout another Ala Saban DB because they haven't so far transitioned well in the NFL including a couple of his LSU DBs also. Previously I have sang the praises of Alshon Jeffries(couldn't…

So we beat the Vikings.... Cutler put up 300+ and 3 TD's. That's all fine and dandy but we all know that he is a GOOD QB(being paid like a GREAT qb). The 2 INT's, totally ruin the victory. Trestmans coaching again left me shaking my head. I thought they should have run more in the first half and the last drive of the 1st half was a horrible display of time management. The Vikings are not a good team, even tho any win in the NFL is earned each sunday. I think the Bears should have Dominated the Vikings, which did not happen. As of now I think the only way I will change my view of Trestman is if the Offense starts putting up 30 every game. I think…

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...urlacher-cutler So the question has to be asked, what do you think the team will do (in the long run) with both Brian and Jay? Obviously it's way too early to probably worry about it but if the team does do reallly well this year, it could make for some dicey negotiations. By the way, I could help but notice how dour Cutler and Urlacher look in the article picture.

What bothers me about these decision makers is the lack of a plan to address needs. I will give them they went out and addressed DE, but still have questions at FS and OL. and if you wish to buy into it, still need help at WR. Someone like Philly will drop players, sign people, make trades, and address there needs in the draft anyway they need to. You can right or wrong, at least see a plan with what they are doing. I wish I could figure out what our leaders are doing, they have did some nice things over the last two years, but fall short with to many bad decisions. They keep repeating moves to make up for past mistakes. As much as no matter what I want the team to succe…

The easiest thing the OC can do is make sure the play reaches Jay before you need to use a time out. We would have been able to stop the clock and have probably over 2 mins at the end of the Game. Why can Jay have a no. of plays with down and distance that if I don't receive a play by X seconds I can choose a play.

So I'm looking for the Bears game today on DTV. I live on the west coast and I can't find it listed anywhere. The Raider game is on at 10 so that is the live game on Network TV. But I can't find it listed on the NFL package. What am I missing and does it show up on anyone who has DTV and lives outside of the Chicago market? I know they have a free preview this week. Bill
