With the unexpected retirement of Dalman, the Bears lost 5 of their top 9 players in snap count, and 6 out of the top 11. Those 6 were all starters. Then they also lost what I would call 4 key contributors, players with a significant number of snaps. Here is a quick rundown of the losses and gains so far and how I think they will address them: ADD/SUB LIST STARTERS: 1. C Drew Dalman (1154+15) >>> C Garrett Bradbury. Well....this is the question that lurks in all of our minds... We have all suffered through defeats and losses...waiting since 1985/1986 for a Super Bowl..... Most odds makers have us as 7 point underdogs. What a perfect time to totally redeem ourselves. I think people are giving NE too much credit, they have wins against Minnesota, Oakland, Cincy, Buffalo, and the Jets. None of those wins were really impressive, and they barely beat OAK and NYJ. They lost to MIA and KC. They won't have their leading rusher (Ridley) and their leader in sacks (Jones). Controlling Gronk seems to be the key. I am trying to get into Paces mind with what his plan is , he is quite secretive with his decisions. Not sure if it's because I'm interested in the way Pace runs his first draft or if it's because the Bears needs are so plentiful but this draft is the one I've been most anxious for in a long time. The Bears were god awful running the ball last year. Blame who you want, but this is an area that has to be fixed. IMO, we will be looking to add a RB to compete. The NFL is a funny place for RB's. Ryan Grant GB, was an undrafted FA and had an almost Probowl season in limited action (7 starts). He finsihed w/ 986yds, give him 9 more games and he breaks 2000. The point of this is, as much as we'd love to see Mendenhall/Stewart in a Bears uniform, it's not the best decision for the Bears. Obviously we would not trade down with them due to the fact the Chargers only have one pick in the first 3 rounds. Any trade would either be our 44th pick and first 3rd rounder; or 44, our second 3rd rounder, and another little something, perhaps a future pick.
