Had a good year in 2009 but has fell of since. Started 2 games 2 years ago for the Pats, recorded 3 sacks. No question a vet min deal which doesn't hurt. Probably competes with Austin Lane for a spot on the team.

  5. No terms disclosed - reported by Adam Jahns. He also was in Indy with Eberflus back in 2021. Know nothing else about him - but sounds like a swing tackle.

Retweeted by Michael C. Wright Tom Pelissero ‏@TomPelissero 2m Willie Young agreed to a 3-year, $9M deal with #Bears that included a $2M signing bonus and $3.95M total guaranteed. I know a few guys here liked him, I wasn't that big a fan, but he's no doubt a starter in this league. It's cheap enough that we could add yet another DE (I want Babin). He's an upgrade over Wootton/SMC so that's a plus. PFF had this to say about him Willie Young, Edge Defender - Took his chance in 2013 to emerge as a starting caliber defensive end, really developing his game into someone you can trust to play more than just a situational role. 9. Roster Move: Bears sign WR Damiere Byrd Another veteran speedy WR with experience as a kick returner. I think half of the FA contracts signed by all teams this year are 1 year unguaranteed contracts.

  16. Bears signed DE Akiem Hicks to a four-year, $48 million extension. I really hope he stays as dominant as he has looked for the life of the contract.

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post...inois-de-walker The Chicago Bears signed former Illinois defensive end Derek Walker and waived tackle Tyler Henderson on Tuesday. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Walker played four games with the Chicago Rush last season, recording two sacks and an interception. Undrafted out of Illinois in 2009, Walker entered the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks. Hendrickson was an undrafted rookie out of Concordia (Minn.).

They picked him up off the Cardinals' practice squad, cut Barry Turner to make room for him. When Johnson declared for the draft, some scouts he might end up as a right tackle in the long term, and others thought he'd have to stay put at guard. He's listed as a guard, but he'd be one of the biggest guards in the league - he goes 6'7" 360 pounds (or more.) Either way, it'll be interesting to see if Tice can turn him into anything, although I don't think he'll make any contribution this season. Johnson may be another long-term developmental guy like Webb, but at least it means the brass recognizes that there are problems up front. And if their strategy is to take…

From chicagobears.com: "Looking back at the 2008 season, it seems Matt Forte got a whole lot of first downs for the Bears. How many first downs did Matt Forte pick up and where did that rank in the NFL?" Robin San Juan, Puerto Rico "Matt Forte tied for the NFL lead with 86 first downs, matching Washington’s Clinton Portis and Atlanta’s Michael Turner. Forte had 63 rushing first downs, and his 23 receiving first downs were surpassed only by Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew among NFL running backs. On third downs, Forte led the NFL with 28 first downs overall and 19 first downs rushing." For my own part, it seemed like every time I saw Forte run the b…

  20. Below is a screenshot of the lowest separation of skill position players through 1st 2 weeks of the season (no qualifiers applied). Bears have 3 of the top 5. I don't know whether the QB decisions play into the separation or if this is a pure stat - but not even the best QB's can consistently deal with this many people NOT getting open. All of these parties need to step it up - the really scary one is Miller - he is supposed to be more electric at getting open; Robinson has always had less separation than the league but made up for it with fundamental awesomeness.
