Contact renegotiation.... I wouldn't be surprised if something were done this year to address just that.

Despite my lack of undying support for Smith, I don't think for a second that this pick has anything to do with eventually moving away from Smith's D. I think Emery is all in on Smith. And, right now, so am I. I hope that his staff, and in particular, Tice, step up and make the changes needed to adapt and make the team strong. Smith has been gradually getting a little more flexible through the years. I hope he continues to so. He may end up being a good HC after all. But this season is do or die for him.

Yeah, I'm a carryover from the "BearsTalk" site... -
I always liked him.... Smells of concussion issues? http://www.10news.com/news/30993007/detail.html

Something tells my you'll have to take a number on that with all the armchair GM's on this site (me included!).

4 out of 10 is not so bad at this point. It looks like you might get more than 4 if a few things pan out...

Agreed... But, there are ways slower guys can learn to create seperation. Largent wasn't fast...

It's over, and you know how the GMs ranked'em...

I haven't a clue. We won't know the perfect draft until at minimum, mid-season. I'm just not knowledgeable enough on college talent to throw 2 deflated cents into the mix. I wish we would have brought on some OL's... But what's done is done, and many of the picks look like they can helps us win a SB. I believe all of us are in the same boat that we hope the OL does improve by virtue of experience, health, positioning, game-planning, and potential free agents. I think we all feel that our guard spots and center are more than adequate. That one T, Carimi, will probably and hopefully be good. We have one questionable T. At this point, we just hope for the best. -
I have a good feeling about this kid. Not to compare either...but wasn't Singletary spoken of as small, not amazingly strong, etc? If we get a solid percent of what Singletary gave us, I'll be thrilled!
-
Thank you. Strength can be added. It's called a weight room... Instincts, mindset and doggedness can't be added. You have it or you don't. And this kid seems to have it. Plus, he has nice hips.

Best thing Pompei's name's been on in years! Thank you for sharing! I love the relentlessness the kid shows....

My expectation. SB victory. Stat-wise I can care less. But I feel there is more than enough firepower on the offense that can win a Super Bowl now and keep us in any game with any opponent. That's all that really matters in the big picture. We are a big boy offense now. Bear the F down.

Exponential addition by subtraction...

You're mistaking Rosie Colvin for Rosie Williams.... Williams, the DB never amounted to much.

Still. They are the Lions. Until they actually win something meaningful, they will be our bitch. Sorry for the language...

OT: Explain your username and how you became a Bears fan

username: madlithuanian, because I'm a crazy mad Bears fan and am of Lithuanian heritage (like Dick Butkus) I was born in 1970 and my dad set me on the right track following Payton when I was about 7 as I started expressing interest in football. My family is from the Marquette Park area originally, but moved to California early on. I still have family and friends in Chicago and try to visit often. I love the city and all the sports teams. Including both baseball clubs. Being of Lithuanian background, my dad wasn't a baseball fan...just basketball and football. So it was only later in my life that I started watching and enjoying football. All while in Southern California. And because it was the 80's, it was Harry and the Cubs that kind of got to me first due to WGN on national cable. So I tend to be a stronger supporter of the Cubs, but I was thrilled when the White Sox won it all. I don't fit the normal mode in that area, but aren't we all just Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawk fans? -
...and oddly, something tells me it won't work for them.
-
Simply not knowing enough about this years' crop of talent, I give it a C. Lots of room for it to be a huge A or a fail depending on how it shakes out. SImply not knowing how Emery works yet and what kind of results he usually gets makes it hard to determine. We'll know much more next year.
-
Agreed.

Great point. Our secondary were a gang of smurfs when JA was picking. Every guy so far drafted is tall. McClellin isn't super tall, but basically it appears Emery likes size and some speed, not just speed. I like this apparent trend.
-
I like that. It shows we really dove into the prospects.
-
It would appear that Smith was in Emery's ear... But, if this kid can make it, he'll be one of the only S picks we've made in years that's starting. I still have some hope that Conte can be a player. Maybe we have a good tandem here in future? I would have preferred an OT, but I understand the pick.
-
From everything I hear. I love the pick and love having Mr. Jeffrey on as a Bear.
-
Isn't McClellin just a situational pass rusher?
madlithuanian replied to bradjock's topic in Bearstalk
Yeah, we just may have to prepare for Tice leaving after Cutler breaks all kinds of passing records on his way to SB MVP...
