What I read (Chicago Sun-Times) was that along with the signing of Alford that they were also expecting the promotion of Gentry from the Practice Squad to the main roster. Nothing confirmed but it sounded like they were pretty certain. Alford is fast, running the 40-yard dash in 4.32 and 4.27 seconds at his pro day in 2015. (per the Sun-Times).

I also agree. Do not pick up 5th year option (unless he returns this year and proves to be a legitimate #1 WR) Then let him play year 4 on his rookie deal to have one last opportunity to prove he can be worth resigning. (When do you have to decide on the 5th year option, is it before year 4 begins?)

I am totally at a loss in my expectations for this game. I usually have a firm grip on my pregame predictions, not this year. I visualize the Bears defense being dominate and keeping us in the game with us pulling off an upset victory. Then the gallon of Bears Kool-aide that I chugged down wears off and I picture the Bears defense playing respectful but not good enough as Glennon throws multiple picks causing us to lose the season opener. I think I will go back and drink some more Kool-aide, LOL. I enjoy dreams more than nightmares.

BearFan2000 mentioned in the original thread, post #2 of the thread, page 1, that he might be interested in joining if there was an opening. I also mentioned I might be interested but now realize I cannot participate. Hopefully BearFan2000 is still interested.

The Denver Broncos have cut T. J. Ward, Pro Bowl strong safety. I know we got Demps in FA and drafted Jackson but I have to believe we have more than enough room and cap space to bring in a 30 year old player to bolster a position we have needed strengthening since Mike Brown departed. I would prefer a pro bowl CB or a OLT that is a big upgrade over what we currently have starting. However, since the likelihood of finding either at this stage is slim to none, T. J. Ward looks mighty fine to me.

NFL.com actually has an article: ROOKIE QB GRADES I know it is hard for me to totally trust any so called experts but it is interesting that Trubisky was the highest rated of all rookie QBs, with an extremely positive review.

I have, unfortunately, decided to delete the Bearstalk FF League #2 because of the lack of interest. With only a week left before the draft there were only 8 teams signed up. When I asked for opinions about playing an 8 team league, something I myself was not too enthused about, only 2 team captains said they would accept that format, another said he would prefer not to but would for the sake of the league. I appreciate all of you joining the league and apologize for not being able to finalize the league.

This is the first time I have heard anyone say anything negative in regards to the relationship between the quarterbacks. I have always heard, from day one after the draft, that everything was great and no problems existed.

My hope before the preseason started was that Glennon would be a top tier QB and shine for us, making it easy to groom / red-shirt Tru for 2017, then have the luxury of possibly trading Glennon for a substantial draft pick and allow Tru to start in 2018, drafting a QB on day 2 in the next draft to groom behind him. Now that being said, Glennon so far has looked nothing like a potential top tier QB so far. Let's hope this is not indicative of his true abilities. It is garbage time, preseason football. Time will tell all too soon.

Thanks! Hopefully he will decide he would enjoy and have time for one more league. I remember well when I first started FF I would be in 6 to 10 leagues every year, then it just got to where I was not enjoying it as much (started getting burned out, LOL) so I cut back to 2 or 3. I really enjoy the Pick'em Pools I am in, the one I mentioned on the forum. I have never won any of the big money pots but usually break even or a bit better. The variety and number of different sub pools makes it all the better. So between FF, the Pick'em Pools, and watching a dozen or more games each week along with the NFL Network daily coverage I find that from September through February I am thoroughly entertained. Then I am bored to death the following 6 months. LOL

They keep on talking about how steady he is and how he has "upside" and "potential". I was hoping it was just hype to bolster his confidence. I personally have never thought of him as any better than a backup. I must admit, although I have been a big fan of Pace since he arrived, I question this extension. He is only 26 years old so maybe he will improve, maybe, maybe.... I guess my hopes of drafting a killer LOT in next years draft is just another dream of mine that will not materialize, LOL.

Time is getting short, although I would have loved to have seen a 12 team league form, a 10 team league can still be a lot of fun. I have, for now, changed the league settings to a 10 team format and need 2 more teams to sign up ASAP, preferably before Sunday, August 27th (live draft is one week after that on Sunday, September 3rd at 3 PM CDT) We now have eight team captains (Adam, TD, BearFan2000, Madlithuainian, Uncle Buck, killakrzydav, bowlingtwig and Pixote). As of this morning, 8/17, we only have 5 teams committed to play this year. We obviously need more interest or I will have to close shop. The five team captains so far are Adam, TD, BearFan2000, Madlithuainian, and Pixote. Anything less than 10 teams sucks big time IMO, 12 teams would be ideal. Can we make at least a 10 team league? Anyone interested? With the number of great Bear Fans we have on this forum I have to believe we can muster up a league.

Potential is great, we have had quite a few players over the past decade with great potential, unfortunately, most failed. Barth has to be scratching his head, LOL When Tampa drafted Aguayo in the 2nd round in 2016 it resulted in Tampa's kicker (Connor Barth) being released. Now he follows him to Chicago.

Why? They cut him, a 2nd round pick, because he sucked. What good is he? We just cut a UDFA Kicker I actually liked the looks of so they were obviously happy with status quo. I am not fond of Connor Barth either so I am not against replacing him but I sure as hell want to see an improvement in the position and not a regression.
