I think you will see a lot of short term deals as they project a huge increase in the Cap within the next 2 years and players agents want to be sure to cash in when the teams have more money to spend. IMHO
-
Williams, for the right $$ why not? Depending on his work in camps. Last year we were hoping he would be our missing link, a #1 WR. We found out quickly he is not a #1 WR. We have a legit #1 now with Brandon. However, for depth on the team, he would be a decent sign, again, low $$ contract.
-
My guess a very cheap no risk contract, this is the time of year teams pick up a bunch of camp fodder and see if any of the cow chips morph into roses. ST is the key here, just another guy to look at, I wouldn't sweat the signing.
-
According to the Bears website in the questions answered it did say it was the better of the 2 picks we gave up, the one from Carolina.

The Bears have made many offers to Forte over the past year or so and all from what I am understanding were very nice offers, would have set the man up for life just on the guaranteed money alone, yet Matt continues to want more than offered and turns down all terms given by the Bears. Now, I am sorry, but if he was offered, as was indicated above, 30 Million with 15 Million Guaranteed, what the hell is his complaint? Maybe he wants to try and up that figure but how in the hell is that showing disrespect to him? Then the Bears sign Bush and that is disrespect? Many teams employ 2 RBs and quite frankly, after all the mileage that has taken place on Forte since arriving, we better damn site lessen his load or he will never be able to finish out his next contract.
-
He will probably be a starter in Seattle and be voted to the Pro Bowl.
-
I suspect after the Bush signing he knew he was going to be out of here and my guess is he just did not want to go through another relocation. He certainly could have contributed somewhere if he had wanted to continue playing. I hope he does well in his future and that he and his family can now enjoy more time together.
-
I suspect in the past there has been a lot of this going on. I doubt any will be going on in the future after the penalties just levied against the Saints. I also doubt the NFL will dig deep into the past for additional examples to be made, they just spoke loud and clear, thunder struck louder than Thor's Hammer and we still need to see what will happen to the players involved. I think Vilma might get the biggest hit in that it is known he put 10k into the pot. Does anyone have a list of the players who are involved and will be disciplined? Hopefully many moved on to the Packers and Lions LOL.

I have heard you say he didn't like contact when healthy. I never saw any indication of this and was curious why you think he was gun-shy "before" getting hurt. I am lost as to why you say this. Now, after the injury, it is always possible he will not be able to shake it "mentally". It does and can happen to any player after a major injury like he had. No idea if the kid will ever make it back on the field, but not giving up on him.
-
I see on NFL.com that Packers are considered one of the favorites to get him, LOL. What are they thinking?

http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/03/19/jets-agree...HP11_hot_topics Good deal, we did not need another Safety that cannot stay healthy, it seems every year all out safeties are a mash unit.
-
Basically, he had one huge game, a fantastic performance, with a group of the best WRs in the league, and gets 10 Million guaranteed. Not bad. I have no idea if this guy is worth a darn, but he sure did make a lot of money off of that one game.

From what I can tell he was to make a base salary of 4.5 million this year, then the big bonus if they kept him. Obviously, the base salary is not a problem. So what would he get on the market? Here is info and his stat line from last year: Wimbley had seven sacks, 21½ quarterback knockdowns and 9½ hurries last season, according to STATS LLC. What would those figures be if he was opposite Peppers? http://espn.go.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/...-out-in-oakland
-
According to Canfora, our updated cap figure is Chicago: $12,878,335 Million, but that is just one source and what does it include? It was mentioned very early in conversations about free agency that last year Wimbley was a major interest to the Bears and Lovie but stayed with Oakland. I only assumed that if they were "hot" for his "BOD" to come to Chicago before, they would still have interest. I would love to see them use him as LB next to Briggs & Urlacher, then on Passing situations, bring him up as DE. Blitz him from LB, turn him loose at DE opposite Peppers. Sort of fill two holes with one player.
-
I am hoping he is on his way to Chicago, I have a feeling there will be a lot of interest in him and if we do not strike quick we will not get him on board.

I am not saying I want it to happen, but let's face it, Campbell will only be here one year, he wants to be a starter, but with all that is going on with Manning & Flynn he decided to take a quick easy 3 Million and sit behind Cutler for a year and try again next year when the Cap is going to increase significantly. So if you are a team near the end of the season in desperate need of a starter, knowing what is going to be available will be the dregs of the QB crop, and you see Campbell sitting on our bench, do you approach Emery? I say yes. And if you are Emery knowing that you are not likely to resign Campbell at a reasonable price next year do you listen to offers? I say yes. Normally a 3rd would be out of the question, but in a situation like that, higher compensation has been given in desperation to save a season. The Bears have no 3rd next year. Will it happen, maybe not. But it would not surprise me if "Late in the Season" and the situation comes up.

Every year QBs go down and teams scramble for a QB that can take their place because they do not feel they have a good enough backup in place. I am very comfortable with both backups we have. If a team goes hunting for a emergency QB because of injuries to their starter, the Bears would be in a great position as I feel they could actually get a decent draft choice for Campbell, possibly a 3rd rounder, if a team was hurting and needed a QB with promise and starting experience to come in. Just a thought, and although I hope we keep him as an insurance policy, you never know!!!
-
With our luck he will restructure and stay put. I think if he leaves, is cut, that the Bears will jump all over him (along with some other teams) and that that might be why we are in a holding pattern in FA at this point, he would be a great addition to the D.
-
You joking right? With Wanny running the D you know they will be dynamite, LOL.
-
Buffalo had a decent defense last year, not they are going to be huge, hope they can kick the Patriots ass!
-
I like Davis and feel he has been short changed do to the offensive systems run, I think he will be utilized much more this year with Tice as OC and might just be a heck of a lot better than many realize.
-
What has happened with Roy Williams? Has he been cut, in limbo, interviewing with other teams, ???? I have not heard anything.
-
I certainly am not saying he will return in 2012, in fact, assuming the doctors say he will eventually return to the field, I would prefer they put him on the back shelf for a year to assure he is 100% before attempting to come back.
-
Let's not write off Knox just yet. He may take time to heal but there is a good chance he will return, or at least I am hoping so, I kinda like the guy and hope he can make it back.
-
We could have waited for a few weeks after all the good backups were signed by other teams and take the best backup left to sign, isn't that what Angelo use to do all the time? I like the proactive signing, let's just hope he never has to play, but we need the security of a decent backup. Like someone said earlier, if we had had him as a backup last year there is a good chance we would have been in the playoffs.
