  1. He is a returner/gunner. Weems may be released soon. He also came up through KC, so Emery has ties.
  2. #Bears agree to terms on 1 yr deal with TE Matthew Mulligan. He's primarily a blocking tight end and has ample experience. Per Brad Biggs Emery is still filling the cupboard.
  3. Phil/Mark, I was joking...
  4. The Bears will be bringing in multiple options to try out, just because he left without a contract doesn't mean that they are not interested. They will most likely have at least 4 bodies in camp. Bring back JaMarcuss Russell!
  5. Freemans first 4 years stats are comparable to Jay Cutlers and John Elways. Spiano came in and right away wanted his own QB. So Freeman and him didnt get along and Freeman wanted out. Take it for what it is worth, his stats were not horrific. His mentality might have been bad last year, but that can happen when the head coach doesn't want you.
  6. You mean Garza I assume Very interesting signing though. Maybe Garza moves to G and Ling to RT?

    Panic?

I wouldn't rule out Bostic or McClellin as MLB yet either. They will try them out and see how they go. As for CB, I think with Tillman/Jennings in the fold, we can wait. CB is deep this year and I think we can get Aikens in towards the 5th. We definateltly need DT/S, if the top two are gone then I'd understand a CB.
  8. What I feel happened with JA and his drafting was Lovie and the coaching, and some bad luck. I never seen player development. How many years did it take before Lovie specifically worked with Daniel Mannining? How many of their picks were lost to injury...Dvorecek comes to mind. To become sucessful, you have to hit on all aspects. Selecting the right person, positions to groom, having a program to develop, and so on. The player development seemed to lack previously and my thought was always Lovie didnt like rookies.

    Great news

They will endorse him, since he is still getting paid on his rookie contract regardless. I have no issue with Conte, I think he was exposed to a poor front 7. It was a scenario on my case of maybe he hears ramblings of the Bears going HHCD or Pryor, so he might as well have surgery and be 100%.
  10. Yes, at least 4 out of 7 I agree will go D too. I don't think the offense will be completely ignored either. Unless we sign a FA TE or RB, I believe we will have to draft a quality one between rounds 3-6. If Forte or MBennett get hurt, we do not have a backup plan.
  11. I still wouldn't say we will be all D in this draft. I think we may see a RB, TE, and possibly a QB. I agree the first 2 out of 3 picks will most likely be DT and S though. We all have are sights on Donald, but if NYGs take him then its a crap shoot. I wouldnt be surprised if he took Ebron if he was there. As for S, i think we can get great value in Rd 2-3. For some reason, I have a feeling we take Will Sutton at DT. 1-Donald DT 2-Bucannon S 3-Niklas TE 4-Sims RB 5-Aikens CB 6-Logan Thomas QB 6-Morris ILB
  12. If he goes Ward, he better trade way down. It is still unknown how he will be able to play with screws in his foot.
  13. Seen Lynch on espn with Gruden. Gruden was telling Lynch that he doesn't know why the NFL hasn't caught on yet with the Tebows and Lynchs yet. They are winners and find a way to win is one thing he said. He thinks the NFL is going that way and someday a team will put an offense together for this type of player.

    Great news

He may have an inside scoop. Since he is going to be a FA after this season, he may be having surgury to fix a ding he could've played through, but will be better off with this procedure. Kind of bad timing on his part. If he took care of this in Jan, he'd be almost 100% by now.
  15. I'd like to find a swing tackle, haven't heard much about Britton either. I think we are considering the draft to fill some of those needs.
  16. I think some people should take a chill. Brian is sticking up for his brothers, and his feelings were hurt. If you have spent time with a company for a good part of your life, that's all you know. So listen to him, he was the only a Bear, they are only words and thoughts. They wear off like an ex wife or girlfriend. Just acknowlwdge that he was apart of your up and downs on a Sunday. That is what he was... a linebacker. If you take offense, then you should take a step back and think about why it bothers you. Maybe you spend too much energy wondering what Brian has said, which has only been about standing up for his team. His team is gone, but he is still there for them.
  17. It's not that speed isn't needed, it's they want to have a base offense that can shift into multiple formations. 2-WRs, 5-Olinemen, QB, RB, TE, and the key is the guy that can line up at FB/TE. I will have to read up on these type of players in the draft. I am not sure if Ebron, Amaro, or Jenkins have that ability.
  18. I think Wilson will see a lot more playing time, and maybe even a 3 WR set, but the base offense envolves deception with motion. I don't see the Bears getting away from that too often. The best player for this offense would be an H back that can line up at FB, shift to TE, or split out wide. I know we need D, but I have a feeling out of 7 picks we draft a TE, RB, QB, and swing OT. On D, I'm hoping for Donald DT, FS, and CB to groom.

    Speed WR

I see a lot of posts about a need for a speed WR to take the top off of the defense. I doubt the Bears go that route since the traditional west coast offense doesn't use a slot WR. That is why Earl Bennett was let go, he didn't line up in the slot once last year. Almost every play last season was with 2 WR's, MBennett and Britton. If we add another receiving threat, that will be in the form of a TE or FB imo. Just pointing out again to the guys that don't think we will look at a TE that we may just be holding our cards tight for Ebron if Donald/Dix are gone.
  20. Really, really like the direction that BM has taken this team. I believe this is all him, bringing the guys together, making a football team a family bond. I think this carries the team a long ways for bringing in FA's also. This is something you did not see when the team was led by Olin Kreutz/Brian Urlacher. I like those guys as players, hell even hanging out with them they are cool, but they didn't organize this type of unity. I think new players had a hard time adjusting to the nfl with that type of leadership. I remember Cedric Benson getting black balled by the defense because he held out.

    middle backer

Williams is hard to count on also, he hasn't played a full season since 2010. I don't think any positions are given yet and training camp will sort that out. As for drafting a MLB, I do think we will need one, but it's not a high priority this year IMO. Right now, we have Bostic, Briggs, Franklin, Senn, Williams, Greene, Wilson and McClellin all in the LB mix. Washington might even get see some time if we use a 3-4 rush OLB in part of our scheme.
  22. Says somedays it feels good and somedays it has pain. He did say he is stronger now than he was during the course of the season weight wise.

    middle backer

Emery said Bostics problems were correctable. Mostly his read/react times were slow, that will improve with experience. He looked much better in preseason and I think his head just had too much going on and the pressure kept increasing. I think year two at MLB will be a better one.
  24. Bostic will start off this offseason at Will, Briggs came back too early from his injury and will be limited. If his condition isn't 100%, he will not hesitate to sit out since he will be a FA after the season. I do not want to Mosely, but I like Skov in Rd2-3.
  25. We will have a handful of options and I'd rather not trade down unless our top targets are taken. I would rank them in this order: Aaron Donald DT- Disruptive defensive lineman that will pressure the QB from inside and disrupt run plays. HaHa Cinton-Dix FS- Centerfielder, has great range and can cover TE/Slot WRs. Has a nose for the run, even though he is not so much the enforcer as say Pryor. Closer to an Earl Thomas FS. Timmy Jernigan DT - Stout DT, a little more flexible on positions he can line up at. Not as explosive as Donald and conditioning could be an issue. Calvin Pryor FS - Pryor is the hard hitting S that would put fear in WR's. Has same speed as HHCD, but not as fluid. His height checked in a couple of inches shorter than what they listed him at.
