Damn.....Swope is gone. Grab Quisenberry to play center or Scott as QB.
-
I will puke if Swope gets picked in front of us. I like his size/speed and feel a WR would be a luxary pick.
-
Meh, a 7th. I'll be upset if we don't land a guy I target.
-
Moved down to 163. Still hope for Swope!
-
It would be nice to see this team get on track to draft bpa no matter what position. So many wasted picks that didn't make it.
-
Swope wr, Quisenberry C/G , Hawthorne CB.
-
I agree, I also envy GB. Lacy and Franklin are one hell of a combo at RB. The teams that draft good every year continue to stay on par.
-
I like how Emery is filling out this roster. He didn't bite on restructuring veterans to make more cap space. He is following a plan even though us as fans want the right now satisfaction. By this time next year, we will have at least 7 picks to load up and our cap situation should be healthy were we can continue to add or sign our own. LB is a position we were in desperate need of. Williams and Anderson are on one year contracts and Briggs is getting up there in age. I called for Ogletree/Brown in my last mock, we couldve went that route. I am actually more pleased getting Long and two guys that were not much of a dropoff. Here's to hoping Emerys vision has some success and the Bears get back to the Superbowl
-
I made a chart after the season, the reds on the team for not having personal were G/LB. We addressed those now and with superp athletic players. If that trend continues, we will fill DT and CB next lol. But I would like to also find C and WR as upgrades.
-
Top 5 defense last year. Aging yes, but we still have round 2 to find a LB.
-
Bakhtiari was a long shot. The site I used had him and Scwenke back to back early/mid rd 4. Taking Brown to play WLB in the future. I think he'd outplay Briggs. Ogletree/Te'o fit more as the MLB, and I knew if I put Te'o it would cause massive illness.
-
One player that seems to be rising fast is Quissenbury and may go RD2. He can play anywhere on the line and best fits at G/C right now.
-
The Bears HAVE to trade down, here's to hoping San Fran wants Vaccaro S or Allen WR. Bears get 1-31,3-74, and 4-128. 1-31 Alec Ogletree LB - Has the skills to cover a lot of field in the middle like #54. Needs some fine tuning but was always a top LB. 2-50 Arthur Brown LB - Why not rejuvinate the history of LB, Eventually takes Briggs spot. I'd trade back up w/ a 4th if have to. 3-74 Ryan Swope WR - Dangerous slot WR is what the Bears need between the beasts, he has speed to stretch also 4-117 Brian Schwenke C Cal - Quick, athletic and fits a zone blocking scheme. 4-131 David Bakhtiari G/T Col - undersized for T, but can play G and probably goes RD3 or higher... (Maybe take Glennon QB if he's here too?) 5-153 Terry Hawthorne CB IL- Decent size/speed and can play man coverage. Plays physical. 6-188 Sean Renfree QB Duke- Very smart, well prepared QB The Bears fill the LB position for another 10 years and have Williams/Anderson as 1 year gap fillers. These two will add a little more speed. Hawthorne at CB can compete at Nickle and prepare to relieve Jennings/Tillman if they cannot resign them next year. Swope will be the wildcard, able to come in and stretch the field from the slot. Plays alot like Wes Welker. Schwenke will add an athletic lineman to lead the ZBS and Bakhtiari add depth/competition at RG. Renfree can hopefully grasp the offense and be a capable backup.
-
I would be ok with that. I see Fluker like Loadholdt a few years back. If a LB drops like Ogletree, I'd be happy. Frederick should be a strong hold for years, but is more of a Tice type player. Schwenke really fits the ZBS. If there a way to swope, I'd be dope haha.
-
That would be nice, just wish I knew what was up PE's sleeve.
-
I think we signed the TE from KC to a.multiple year deal.
-
Too many unknowns, last year the ball bounced our way on turnovers. I will say 8-8, because this will be a growing year.
-
I'm all for a young stud at G too. One we think is a sure thing, like my thoughts on DeCastro last year. The thing about this draft is there are some good LB, G, and WRs we will have a shot at. WR should be our least concern, but it may be Trestmans #1 priority. We may throw everyone off and take anothe DE? Wootten has one year left and Peppers may cost too much and Shea may not develop. I won't throw anything out with this team.
-
If we can land Frederick, Barrett Jones, or Schwienke I will be happy. I just wish we had a 3rd RD bc I think that's were they end up. Draft a center allows Garza to kick out to guard where he can be servicable for one year. I still hope to have a shot at Cooper or Warmack, but I keep hearing how we really like Arthor Brown at LB.
-
True, and most of his contracts are one year deals. I think I've seen right now 39 out of 65 Bear contracts expire next season. He has his work cut out for him. We still need a vet back up QB and a Guard would be nice, but he has nearly a complete team set and we haven't drafted.
-
He's gone and we've signed multiple players since the decision. We couldve kept him and he could play at a probowl level, but we may not have been able to afford Anderson, Hayden, Zibikowski and others. I think the choice was tough, but long term it will turn out right. His signing could be the difference of being able to keep Cutler/Peppers next season, who knows. Lets trust Emery has a vision layed out and it turns into Championships year after year.
-
I think his best time was 4.68 and his worst was 4.75.....all officially unofficial
-
I didn't want to start a new thread but was curious if these last few moves are indicating a change to the 3-4. Williams and Anderson both have experience in a 3-4. The draft is freeing up, where we can use a couple picks to fill the missing pieces. There is also articles on web that suggest this also released today. The next few weeks will be telling...

I'm liking Arthor Brown, he's a little on the small side but really solid. I think he could play MLB, but would be perfect in Briggs spot. I think we draft 2 LBs this year.
