  1. Hard to believe at this point in the season our best offensive lineman is arguably Charles Leno. We really need to get a starting RT in the offseason so that Long can go back to guard. It's early, but it would be hard for me to pass up Reggie Ragland if we are drafting the middle of the first round. The Bears have a glaring ILB need and the success rate for ILBs high in the draft seems pretty good.
  2. Tackling was really bad or the game might not have even been that close. I understand that it was rainy, but you got to get those guys down. Though there weren't many holes, when they were there, Langford hit them and Forte did not. Maybe he's just rusty, but I think this team clearly moves on from Forte.
  3. I'm certainly not in favor of "tanking", I just think when I see a flawed team that's going to in all likelihood miss the playoffs, I recognize the value in losses from a draft pick standpoint. Remember, the last two years has seen Aaron Donald and Leonard Williams go in the picks immediately before ours.
  4. With all these Bears using performance enhancing substances, you'd think our performance would have been enhanced somehow . . .
  5. So was Jalen Saunders, who is on our practice squad.
  6. I almost posted during that last Chargers drive "it's going to be hard to win this game without any impact defensive plays" because at the time the Bears had 0 ints, 0 TFL and 0 sacks. Good on Hoiston to step and Aldo not get injured during his celebrations.

Wonder if the Pats could be convinced to trade for Bushrod. With Nate Solder out for the season, maybe they give up a late draft pick, we pay some of Bushrod's salary?
  8. Those who watched the game, how did Leno look at LT? Sounds like he got blown up a couple of times, but so did Bushrod.

Pressures sound great, but really just means "didn't get a sack" to me, and none of the QBs seemed to have much problem handling the Bears' "pressure."
  10. Hard for me to praise the play calling too much when we have four plays inside the GB 6 in the 4th quarter and throw all four times. That's straight from the Trestman playbook. Our CB play is not good. Ball and Fuller both got burned pretty consistently, although the lack of pass rush did not help. Aaron Donald going one pick before us last year and us taking Fuller is going to hurt for a long long time.

Omameh started all 16 games last year at G and Jones-Quartey played CB and some safety in the preseason. I figure they drop Callahan and maybe Fales to add those. I hope they don't drop Fabuluje to add Omameh - Tayo had a quietly good came against the Browns and while he needs some conditioning and work sustaining his blocks, when he gets his hands on his opponent, he looks real good. If I was to guess at the practice squard, I would quess Terry Williams, Kyle Woestmann, Matthew Wells, Michael Ola, David Fales and either Gannon Sinclair or Bear Pascoe, plus either Rishad Lawrence or a WR on another team, a RB, a DE, and whichever DB they drop to add Jones-Quartey.

I see Antwan Goodley, a first year WR from Baylor, got released by the Cowboys. I liked him coming into the draft as a speed/return guy and wouldn't mind giving him a look.

Dockett hasn't played in a regular season game since 2013. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd rather see what Will Sutton can do.
  14. Let's calm down a bit. I'm sure the draft pick is conditional on him making the team.
  15. Grasu's lack of strength right now is glaring - he gets consistently pushed back. I don't see how anyone can see him as a starter this year unless there's an injury. I also haven't been real impressed with the starting ILB play. Mason Foster is outplaying both Jones and McClellin from what I've seen.
  16. https://cbschicago.files.wordpress.com/2015...-3-51-57-pm.png Some things I notice: - Guard depth does not look good, with Ducasse and someone named Jason Weaver the current backups, though I understand that Ola can play there as well. - Kadeem Carey has an uphill job making this roster with Rodgers and Langford ahead of him. This fits with what I saw last week when I was at training camp. They obviously had a plan with Rodgers and even Langford (saw him out wide blocking on WR screens). Not sure where Carey fits right now. - I like what I saw from Cameron Meredith last week and it looks like right now he's the most highly thought of under the radar WR. We'll see how he performs in the games, but he might be ripe for a practice squad spot, particularly if they keep Mariani and give him WR reps. - I'm pretty surprised that they have McClellin and Jones starting ahead of Foster and Bostic. I figured It would be the exact opposite. - I'm also surprised to see Tracy Porter ahead of Sherrick McManis on the CB depth chart. McManis had apparently been impressing in camp, and I haven't heard much positive about Porter.

I'm going to practice on Thursday and will report back with anything of note.
  18. I only went one time a couple years ago, though I am hoping to go again this year. The link below gives you most of what you need to know. Under Trestman, I think there were morning and afternoon practices both open, but under Fox I think I read it's just morning practices, though sometimes they start at 11:30. No charge. I went to a morning practice the one time I went and it was pretty easy to get in and out. I got there early but I don't think it's a necessity. The players all walk from the locker rooms to the facility, so you can line up there at the beginning to see the players go by. There's not much to do except clap as they go by, though it's as close as you are likely to get to the players until the end. There are some radio stands set up for 670, ESPN, etc. and sometimes the players are doing interviews during camp. There are bleachers set up on one side of the camp and there really isn't a bad place to sit - usually there are defensive and offensive drills going on and some special teams as well and the day I went there was a scrimmage at the end that's pretty much just offense v. defense (not sure how typical that is). At the end the players walk back to the locker room (or wherever) and will stop and sign autographs if they feel like it, so if you're into that kind of thing, maybe line up for that early. I didn't really care, but the year I went Peanut was signing for a long time right next to where I was leaving (big surprise), so I stuck my head in and got an autograph. You get a glossy 8 1/2 x 11 or so Bears-themed thing when you walk in that you can use to get autographs on if you don't have something. Not much else to see in Bourbonnais in my opinion, though I confess I didn't venture into much of it. http://www.chicagobears.com/events/training-camp.html
  19. Numerous outlets on Twitter are reporting that he was at Halas Hall today for physicals and will participate in mandatory minicamp starting tomorrow.
  20. Another veteran with starting experience signed to a 1-year deal, though he hasn't been very good since his Super Bowl heroics. Hopefully one younger guys beats him out (Bryce Callahan, Jacoby Glenn, Demontre Hurst, Al Louis-Jean), but provides some decent insurance.

Other roster moves: DE Austen Lane also cut. Signed recent tryout players Terry Williams, NT, ECU and Kyle Woestmann, LB, Vanderbilt and Pat Devlin, a QB who was most recently with the Vikings, I think.
  22. Plus, even if they were staying in shape in the offseason, the last week has been a whirlwind of moving to a new city, getting acclimated, etc., then add on the first day of camp where the coaches want to see what you're made of.
  23. I want Jalen Ramsey next year like you read about.
  24. Signed with the Cowboys. Seems odd based on need, but whatever.
  25. Didn't Kyle Long miss it because of Oregon's late graduation? I assume since the draft has been pushed back from when it used to be, that won't be an issue for Grasu.
