I agree on the point of Chris Williams may have been healthy enough to return from his injury but not enough to return to LOT and was plugged into LG as frank omiyale prooved the year before that he could not handle the transition to guard from tackle. IT may have been a case of the lesser of three evils! With that said a healthy Williams may be a solid but not great LOT, we will see. It certainly will be interesting what the Bears actually will do in the draft. Hopefully the addition of Tim Hasskell (spelling) will help the Bears take the best player available or the balls to move up and get the implact player the team wants; please no more projects or swinging for the fences with early picks! Can we please do what the Ravens and Steelers do so well year after year and draft good football players that can play football! Kee in mind the Bears "Defense" is among the top 5 oldest in the league which gives me a feeling that JA will draft more "D" early and OL later per his m.o. My draft wish list in the first 5 rounds Best impact player available would include the following positions: OL (OG/OT/C), DT, CB (big and physical atleast 6', no more T. Jennings) and probably a LB. Free Agent Targets: OG, WR, CB, LB & S for depth Like others on this board I - I would like to get WR Sid Rice! Or why not Fix the OL via this years draft & FA, get a new 3 tech DT and go after Larry Fitzgerald next offseason? This would make the most sense is to keep Cutler healthy and get some help for Peppers. I have a feeling that Larry Fitzgerald will end up in Chicago in 2012.

Larry Fitzgerald available for the right price
ParkerBear7 replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Bearstalk
Is Larry Fitzgerald politicking here to help increase a chance for the BEARS to make a trade for the star WR? link Fitzgerald: Cutler injury 'like your knee's in space' February 3, 2011 4:28 PM | 1 Comment Staff report Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who missed time after spraining an MCL in his right knee during the preseason, can relate to what Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler experienced while trying to play with the injury in the NFC Championship Game. "It was not very painful, but you just don't have any mobility," Fitzgerald said Thursday on "The Boers & Bernstein Show" on WSCR-AM 670. "When you're stopping and you're starting you feel like your knee's in space. There's no resistance when you're stopping, it feels so loose ... I couldn't plant, I couldn't cut. Those things that are required for my position, I just couldn't do." Asked whether a player can be effective with an MCL injury, Fitzgerald said, "No, I know for a fact that you can't play as effective as you normally would. I can understand and sympathize (with) Jay with the way he was feeling. If you're not playing at your best, you're not usually giving your team the best option." Regarding the heat that Cutler has taken from fellow players and the media, Fitzgerald said, "That's part of what comes with the game: If you're playing the quarterback position you're always going to be scrutinized. "I don't know him that well, but I've always been a fan of his. A guy that's able to battle through diabetes, something that's such a debilitating disease, he's been able to fight through that and overcome that, that speaks volumes for his toughness. ... So I have a tremendous amount of respect for the guy. -
Thoughts and commnets from Brian Urlacher.......
ParkerBear7 replied to ParkerBear7's topic in Bearstalk
"Hell no I'm not rooting for the Packers in the Super Bowl. I have a ton of respect for that organization and the head coach, but I don't want them to win the Super Bowl. They're in our division, I want them to lose." - Brian Urlacher That is what I want to hear!!!! -
http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2011/...-criticism.html Staff report Nearly a week after the Bears' heartbreaking loss to the Green Bay Packers, Pro-Bowl linebacker Brian Urlacher is still baffled by the criticism of quarterback Jay Cutler by current and former players. Urlacher, appearing Friday morning on the WMVP-AM 1000's "Waddle & Silvy Show," said the shots on Twitter from the likes of the Jacksonville Jaguars' Maurice Jones Drew "pissed" him off. "Anyone who knows Jay and has played with Jay and seen the hits he's taken in his career knows he's not a sissy. He's a tough guy. He goes out there every day and doesn't say anything about what's going on, just practices and plays and goes about his business. It really frustrated me. I didn't think it was warranted, but that's just the way -- with all the social networking now -- it's the way things go." Photo: Brian Urlacher has a word with Aaron Rodgers during the third quarter of the NFC Championship Game. (Jose M. Osorio/Tribune) "I think they are going off his body language, which to me doesn't matter anyway. He was probably frustrated he wasn't in the game. "As a player, I personally try not to take shots at other players publicly. Sometimes it's hard to do that." Other highlights from the interview: • Urlacher is not rooting for the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl: "Hell no I'm not rooting for the Packers in the Super Bowl. I have a ton of respect for that organization and the head coach, but I don't want them to win the Super Bowl. They're in our division, I want them to lose." • Urlacher said he wants the Bears to sign coach Lovie Smith to an extension: "He treats us like men. If we do the right things -- you're on time, you show, which you should do, you're a professional football player -- he treats us like men. He gives us days off here and there. The way he acts. You know, he doesn't sell us out in the media, the media that gets on him for being more vocal, this and that. But we love it. That's kind of how we are, as well, and we get that from him. I don't want to play for anybody else and it think that's how the rest of our team feels as well. • Did he think he was going to score after intercepting that Aaron Rodgers pass? "I did. You know what I should've done is just run right at Aaron Rodgers. I should've tried to stiff-arm him or just try and out run him. He's fast; let me get that out there. He took a great angle. I didn't think I was going to get to the sideline. I didn't want to get pushed out of bounds because that's kind of the sissy way to go out. But I did the next best thing and let him tackle me in the open field. "Here's what went through my mind: I caught the ball -- first i was happy I caught it. Then I was like, OK, there's receivers on the field; they're probably going to catch you from behind. So I knew (Donald) Driver was out there and (Greg) Jennings, so I've got that going through the back of my mind. I look at the jumbotron and I see Rodgers out there and I'm like crap, what am I going do? so i tried to make a little juke and then I was like, you know what, just hold on to the football and someone will tackle yoiu. I get nervous when I get the ball. I'm not going to lie." http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2011/...-criticism.html

Since the window is not wide open for a chance at winning a SB and even with some of Lovie's short comings I think the best thing probably for this team and Cutlers development is to keep the continuation of the staff going. From what I read Lovie has the respect of his players and that shows by their no quit play on the field. Lovie is one of the main reason that Peppers signed with the Bears.

I heard on the drive home that Jeff Fisher (former bear) will be departing the TITANS and is now available. What are your thoughts on Jeff Fisher now that he is available?
-
Here are a few more whiffs by the refs: The hit on Rodgers by Peppers: yes there was some contact with the helmets but Julius did not lead with the crown! Peppers was being held all game and yet not called. The intentional grounding call on Hanie; he was hit as he was throwing it in the vicinity of two bear WR's. The Hanie pick that ended the game; Knox had a DB on his back while the ball was in the air and before it was picked! That should of been at least illegal contact or holding which should have been a 1st down inside the 20 yd line. I know the team played like crap today but the very last play could have cost the bears the game come on NFL! GRRRR!

Cowherd and his QB buddy Trent Dildo were comparing Rothlisbers broken nose to and how he was getting it repostioned and gauzed to stiop the bleeding and then he was back in on the next series. How is that a relevant analogy to a sprained/ torn MCL? Last I check you do not need your nose to throw passes. Unreal. Another analyst I loathed is Hassleback another turd who did nothting in the nfl and is free to criticise Cutler's shortcomings and perceptions.

Yeah, for as sloppy as the Bears played they still had a chance in the end to at least tie the game. There was about a handful of plays that could of turned the tides in favor of the Bears. This will not sit well with the vets on this team and they know what needs to be fixed during the off season. I believe they will right the ship and get back to the SB soon.

And the penatly was absolute BS!

Could not agree more! And it is okay to vent here!

I too support Jay Cutler and look forward to seeing what he may becomes over the rest of his career. To be honest I think this little setback will allow the Bears to fix there issues and be back next year ready to get to the SB and win! As far as mannerism and such I am not sure what people are expecting? Jay is not a rah rah type guy and that is okay by me. He leads in the huddle and that is what matters. I live in Denver and the local am sports show (former bronco Mark Schlerith & co) they were absolutely crucifying Jay. Mark kept sayoing that they wanted to see Jay to fight to get back on the field and they did not like they way he looked on the sidelines. What the hell is a guys supposed to do? I saw a guy that looked devastated, frustrated, dejected and upset that he was not playing well and got hurt and unable to return. Additionally, he had to be feeling like he let the world down knowing that Collins was going into the game. The Denver sports guys were even trying to spin the injury into a benching based on his play. How ridiculous is that! I really was hoping Cutler would have a great game and beat the packers so that he could be vindicated, the entire team vindicated from the lack of respect they received this year. Here to hopefully a great off season so we can start the next season with a chip and get another crack at the NFC title game!! Bear Down!

ABSOLUTELY!

I agree, The worst thing for this team is to dismantle the coaching staff. Right now I feel Martz is the most capable of getting Jay Cutler to be a more consistent QB and hopefully getting the most of his potential. I think there is no way Smith will be fired. I understand Smith has flaws but his priorities are dead-on - Beat Green Bay! Had they did that this year the Bears would probably be heading to the SB! I hate when people over react and want to fire everyone but what would that really accomplish. Look, I am not a huge supporter of the cover 2 but that is not what got us beat today. Let's be rational here guys. Bedsides, who would you bring in to replace Lovie? Gruden or Cower? Not going to happen.
-
Here is who we should be blaming: Blame the poor field conditions at Soldier Field. In fact, the team is doing a disservice to itself as it builds a team for speed then has them play in a sandbox painted green. The number 1 off season priority is to bring in that hybrid turf!!! I was about 10 years old when the '85 Bears won the Superbowl and think I recall Solider field having astro turf back then? Does anyone else remember if they played on the artificial surface back then?
-
I am with you on this as well. Why the hell would Cutler take a beating all season and keep coming back for more only to quit in the NFC championship game? Cutler is not a baby nor a quitter. I look forward to watching Cutler and Rodger battle for the NFC north Div for next several years. Plain and simple the Bears were out played today and still almost found a way. Cutler is not the enemy nor the problem. In fact Jay overcame great adversity throughout the last two seasons and was a big part of the reason the Bears made it as far as they did. I think they may of overachieved this year and still frustrated they let this one slip away but I am not blaming number 6. I hate losing especially to a team that is far from perfect but this is ridiculous that fans and the media are questioning Jay's injury like this. Another point, Rothlisberger had a crappy game and luckily his team held on for the win as the Jets almost came back as well.
-
I live in Denver, and Champ Bailey is a FA and is on record of saying that right now winning is a priority and that he would even like to move to safety to extend his career. Why not get Champ, Asumough, Vincent Jackson, Mankins and possibly take a flyer on Haynesworth. Then draft OL and some other depth players.

THANKS NFL...another missed call! Clearly Knox was held/ interfered with on the last play that resulted in a int. I'm pissed.

I actually think the BEARS play better during day games. -

I feel that the Pack can not sustain the intensity and high level of play that they have had over the last 3 or 4 weeks. That said the Bears are capable of beating them and I think Rodgers and CO are due for a let down game e.g. the Patriots vs Jets. I also see the playing surface at Soldier Field being the 12 man! GO BEARS!!! -
I agree if Lovie wins the COY than he deserves it. I think most of the board realize the pressure this staff has been under and could not of predicted this season going as well as it has gone thus far. In my opinion it is very important to Cutler & company for this coaching staff to remain intact especially Martz and Tice. If signing Smith to an extension is a way to do this than I could accept that even though it would be great to see something new from the defensive scheme. Another point is that the players seem to like to play for Smith. Look, we all miss the rants and in your face style like Ditka but ask Samurai Mike how that worked out in Frisco? The league is different than the 90's as the more players make the less they will put up with an abrasive style coach. It is a lot easier to replace a coach than franchise players; refer to the Broncos situation.

KNOX really needs to learn how to go get the ball and stop letting it come to him. He should of had a second TD if he would of just attacked the ball in the air. Why is DA not used more in the redzone! by the way that dropped td by KNOX cost my fantasy team a trip to the championship game (lost by 4.4 points) MOST IMPORTANTLY THOUGH -- THE BEARS ARE NFC NORTH CHAMP!!!
