I tell you what, this Head coach search has been darn interesting. I'm really impressed with the candidates that Emery is bringing in. 2 weeks ago, if you said the Bears may hire a CFL head coach, I'd have facepalmed. Now, he's actually a candidate that I would love to see here. It's just interesting reading what a lot of these guys have done in their careers. The fact that my top 3 choices don't include McCoy or Shannahan like others on here, just goes to show the solid variety of choices out there. Trying to think of who my favorite candidate is now, Clements has dropped off, and he was my guy just earlier this week. Arians, Carmichael, and Trestmen are my favorite choices at the second, think I'm going to read up on each and post my new favorite of the 3 later on.

Lawrence Holmes had a media guy on there say Carmichael wasn't a guy that could stand up and demand the attention of a room. He's too nice of a guy. He's still in my top 3, and like Lawrence's reply, it may be something you get when you get put in the situation. He's still in my top 3 with Arians and Clements.

Carmichael wasn't the head coach this year. He just ran the offense. Vitt ran the team, cause he was assistant HC.

Maybe Brees recommended him when he went to NO? I don't know. I think Orton was just that good, so I guess I'm biased lol. I'm not saying he was great, but their was a lot more talent in that offense that played to his favor. I'm not saying he is great, if that was true he wouldn't have signed a 2 year deal to be Romo's back up last year. McCoy just has red flags on him for me, but I can understand why people would want him.

I really don't like any of those guys, nothing personal. Gruden hasn't coached in a while. The Kelly's haven't coached in the NFL before. O'Brien is a former Patriot assistant coach and they don't transition well. Shannahan probably wouldn't be mentioned if it wasn't for his dad. McCoy is just getting credit for what he did the year before last with Tebow. His own WR said they didn't learn to run routes or have to run them until Manning was there. Roman was a coach with the Panthers, Texans, and Ravens before and their offenses were not to impressive when he was at either. I think Harbaugh is more to the success there. Who do I want? I'd like to see Arians or Clements, but I understand both are kind of old to be starting their head coaching career. I'd be more than happy with either of those guys. Sullivan is kind of interesting for a young guy. Pete Carmichael is an interesting interview to me. Drew Brees took a major step up when he went to New Orleans and that was the same year that Carmichael became his QB coach. I'm not saying he was why Brees got better, but possibly helped. He definitely should have picked up something after being a coach in that offense this long and OC since 2009. He also has experience at coaching other positions, starting out as a TE coach in the NFL and coaching WRs before before joining the saints.

Clements age does bother me. It's kinda hard to expect a 10 year tenure like Lovie. Of the names listed for interviews, I like him the best tho. Reading that article in the offseason, where Demarius Thomas said now that Manning is there he had to start running routes and learning them as he didn't the first 2 years was something that stuck with me. When I looked it up again after McCoy was listed as a candidate, it made me not want him here. Andy Reid is the only retread I like right now. The only knock on him to me is I think he could use a year or 2 away from the game, but AZ may have him locked up. I love Gruden, but his time away from coaching scares me. The Bears situation does remind me a lot of when he came into Tampa Bay tho. A top aging defense, with the need of a boost from offense to make a Super Bowl run. Prior coach fired for not being able to get over the hump. Shannahan I don't like. Can't say why really, I just haven't. He did definitely did do good this year with Cousins and RG3 this year tho.

Clements really stands out to me, and probably who I want to see hired. He knows the teams biggest rival in and out. He helped Elvis Grbac, kordell, and tommy maddox to pro bowl appearances. He has ties to Chicago, practiced law there for 5 years. Made Matt Flynn look good. I really don't like McCoy. I don't want to see another team's special teams coach hired and Tampa has never impressed me with their offense. I don't want to see the big name retreads brought in, so yea, Clements is my guy I am rooting for.

Happy new year. He definitely should get consideration, especially if they have an awesome candidate for OC. That would negate the need for an offensive head coach, and as a couch Toub has been great.

This is why McCoy scares me. It took his 3rd year under McCoy and the addition of Manning, for Thomas to have to learn and run routes.

I think he should be fired too. I just can't really think of anyone. I think I may have heard of 1 coach that was 10-6, I may be wrong tho.

Yea, I saw Campbell play and Hanie. Hanie should never been the main back up. That's why Campbell was brought in. Campbell looked bad against the Texans coming off cold in a game that Cutler looked really bad. He got destroyed against San Fransisco in the worst game the offensive line played this year. That game was lost if Jay had played. He came in the Vikings game and looked better than Cutler, by spreading it around. I'm not saying That Campbell is better, I'm saying he isn't 7 games worse than Cutler.

I really don't think a Cutler injury would cause a 7 game swing. Most games are won by the D and not by his near lowest in the league ran offense.

The different play call didn't help. Luckily Cutler rushed and picked up the first and more when he saw nothing open. That time out could have been huge, if Cutler couldn't make the rush there. The Lions just needed a field goal for the lead with little time left.

Hard to believe the Bears have had that many turn overs/field position and only up 6. This is turning into a lot closer game than I thought it'd be.

I had no idea Peppers had 11.5 sacks. He just didn't seem like he had much of an impact to me this year. Maybe it's just where I have seen so many other teams dominate the Bears offensive line. 7 years in a row, and it just seems like Briggs would be there ignoring stats and with how the defense had played. I'm not saying the other's aren't more deserving, I was just surprised to see him off the list. He won't be able to be an alternate either this year, as the Bears will win the Super Bowl.

I'm kind of surprised by Peppers and Briggs. I kinda take it for granted Briggs gets picked so much and expected he would be again this year, not that the other choices are bad. Peppers just hasn't been a major factor this year, and was surprised he made it.
