  1. Wonder if this is indirectly saying something about Rex?
  2. Fluke or not, Kyle has shown me significant improvement in the past 2 games. He's also become a vocal leader on offense as can be seen in last week's "Inside the NFL". Now I'm not goin to crown his ass just yet, but he has definately earned the benefit of the doubt from me personally.
  3. I'm a Rex fan too, and think we would have been 3-0 with Rex coming in last night, but yesterday's game is just one of those Rex probably would have lost. High scoring, no running game, and heavy pressure. When those 3 things are combined (actually the latter 2 alone are enough for me), I have little confidence in Rex. I personally had given Kyle one more game to show something and with yesterdays performance, he earned more time as starter, bottom line.
  4. I wonder if it's because of his actual ability or because of the cover 2 we run.
  5. It's only the first quarter but Kyle's longer passes look to be coming out quicker and more accurate than usual. Hope it's the begining of a trend...
  6. A first round pick for an unproven TE? In the meantime people like T.O. and Edgerrin James get traded for 2nd round picks at their prime.
  7. A guy on the Comcast Post Game said it best, " I rather have Good Rex/Bad Rex than mediocre KO/Bad KO. I still think we should give Kyle one more game to show vast improvement. If he doesn't, I'll be backing Grossman again. I like what Rex can do when he has a running game.
  8. He underthrew a guy who had a step on the corner, why is blaming orton for that crazy? If he had thrown a good pass, the defender wouldn't have been in position to make a play on the ball. Forte is a RB, not a wide receiver, his skill set is not designed to make plays on poorly thrown balls.
  9. C'mon, if you're gonna compare turnovers, it's only fair to compare TDs as well. I'm willing to give Kyle one more week to do something and if this is all we're gonna get, I rather gamble the season with Rex than to die a slooooooooow death with Kyle.
  10. Ronnie Brown has lost his mind, told ya guys not to sleep on him.
  11. Holy crap I thought you were talking about Jonathan Quinn when I read your title and first sentence, I almost choked on some pizza crust.
  12. I thought he was pretty clutch in the NFC Championship game in 2006. Regardless, I just think Rex was good when he's had protection and a decent running game (early 2006). Take protection away and Rex is a completely different QB, and I think the same can be said about most QBs. All that said, I want to reitirate that it is NOT time to pull Kyle. He should at least get 2 more games to show if he is more than just a game manager.
  13. Yes. Rex was on the sideline talking to Kyle after a bad pass on a 3rd down. Don't know why'd you call him a stupid ass, he's always been a team guy.
  14. I've been a Rex supporter and I like what he can do when he has some protection and a running game (early 2006), but it is still too early to bring him in. The staff agreed to give Kyle a shot and we have to live with that decision for a few more games.

    I Blame

Orton is consistant with the way he plays. He completes a million short passes and is totally innacurate past 5-7 yards. It is what it is. I don't think we will win in the long run with him playing this way, but I wouldn't blame him for today's loss. Rashied Davis and Olsen didn't make his job very easy with their drive killing plays. Vasher is another guy who is starting to piss me off.
  16. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! During the preseason I commented on how much they were running this play in training camp and expressed my displeasure. Last week I called the play before Mckie's TD. Today I called Mckie's TD. And of course I called it on the 4th and 1. If I, a dumb fan, can see this coming EVERYTIME, what the hell did Turner expect? Now before someone points out how 2 of those resulted in TDs, I'm pretty sure a Forte dive would have had the same result (not just saying that cuz he's on my fantasy team). Man I'm so mad right now!
  17. That hadn't even crossed my mind. Good thing the only guy I have from those 2 teams is Ray Rice and he's a backup.
  18. I don't know if I can stress enough my desire to watch Muhammad get drilled so hard he pulls a Roberto Duran, "No mas".
  19. I hope you're right andf I hope he can handle an expanded role. If he can, I don't see why we can't win the division. Minny and the Lions can have all the talent in the world but still have losing encoded in their DNA, and we've owned the Pack since Lovie's been here.
  20. I know running on 3 and 6 happens, but that's usually when teams are backed up and don't want to risk a pick 6 or they need a couple of extra yards for punting room. You are not gonna tell me offensive coordinators do this with confidence they will pick up a first down. I think it's pretty obvious that being on the 50 yard line, we got conservative and figured we'd play the field position game. Luckily it worked out and we were able to lengthen the leash a little bit, but not totally until we took a 2 possesion lead. As for the passing on 3rd and short the first couple of times, those are common situations to run OR pass so the analogy doesn't hold up to running on 3rd and 6 from the 50 in the 1st qrtr. I don't think anyone lacks confidence in Kyle being accurate and making good decisions under 5 yards. The pass on 3rd and 1, we had momentum and a relatively comfortable lead judging by the game flow at the time so the decision to take a shot at that point was not one i'd call Super Ballsy, even though I liked the call. Again, I'm not knocking Orton, I like what HE did very much. I'm not even completely knocking Turner, I like how we opened it up more in the second half. My fear is that in future games our running attack might not be as good as sunday's and we may hold Kyle's leash too tight until it's too late for him to do anything about it.
  21. Trust me, I'm enjoying the hell out of this victory, this does not mean I can't be critical and wanting to discuss what I want to see in future games.
  22. I didn't claim I have any special insight, I'm calling it as I (and I think most people) saw it. Can anyone honestly tell me that a team who has confidence in their QB would choose to run instead of pass in that exact situation, 1st Qrt, 3rd and 6 on the 50, down by 3? It wasn't just once that we ran it on 3rd and 5+ btw, you honestly don't find anything strange about that?
  23. I'm saying I don't agree with your assessment of Orton as he relates to Manning and that you are overhyping the Colt's defense. Their defense is undersized and greatly benefits from their offense taking quick leads and opponents having to become one dimensional. It's misleading, kind of how the Bears had the #1 scoring offense the year we went to the Superbowl. We all know that was contingent upon the defense and special teams getting us ridiculously short fields. No one would have said the Bears had one of the league's best offenses that year. As far as WHY I think we won? Our defense was outstanding as far as rushing and points allowed and our rushing offense was great. Those were the two main factors in us pulling off the upset. I believe our defense can repeat this type of performance most of the year, based on recent history, but can our offense? I don't think any of us have the answer to that yet.
  24. Playing Devil's advocate, Indy has an undersized defense that has been horrible against the run for the past few years. They were last in the league rush defense during the regular season the year we played them in the Superbowl, and 15th last year iirc. Forte had some HUGE holes being opened up for him. Will our line be able to get that kind of push against the bigger D's in the league? Only time will tell. As far as your comment on Orton looking more like Manning, lets settle down. Manning's "bad" game still yielded 257 passing yards, 1 TD, 0 Ints. That's without the luxury of a running game and a makeshift O-line playing against the Bears' famous D. I'm excited and optimistic too, but sometimes you gotta call a spade a spade.
  25. Because no matter how good your running game is, running on 3rd and 5 will fail in getting a 1st down most of the time. You're gonna tell me the Bears were confident they could get a first down on the 3rd and 6 that Forte took to the house from the 50? That play REEKED of fear of putting the ball in Kyle's hands that early in the game (luckily it worked out). Will Kyle be able to handle playing without a leash and sometimes having to win games for us? I don't know, but I am 100% positive that our team won't get very far if we keep calling plays from 2005 for 2008 Orton.
