If you can rebuild the D, run the ball and have Cutler (or whoever) be serviceable with a couple of decent WR's, you can win enough games to make the playoffs. This year. I'll add they have to completely overhaul ST's too. So, it's a huge undertaking and I think, for what it's worth, you have to at least commend them for having big enough balls to make the moves they feel are needed, regardless of public opinion.

Yeah. He's been a classless peckerhead his entire stay with the Bears. Played great next to #54 but won't even get HOF consideration because of his attitude, etc.
-
All true. But I'm not as upset as you about the deal. Guess it's mostly because I expected moves from the new regime and this one was telegraphed by many "insiders" for a while. Disappointed in the apparent 5th round pick they got. Not enough. But as with any trade, it'll take a year or two to judge this one. If BM lights it up in NYC and we don't put the cap space and pick to good use, this will go down as a terrible deal. He's been a great player and pretty good role model here. Something he said last year rubbed someone (Virginia?) the wrong way and now he's not a Bear. Hopefully Pace had more reasons for this move than just the old bat being pissed but we'll see. I'm still in the give them the benefit of the doubt mode so I'm going to see what else happens here before getting irate over one move or another.

Crazy year, so far.

A house cleaning would be cutting Cutler and Forte along with a few of the older D guys. I haven't seen enough to say they're blowing it all up but maybe. The rumors about Marshall pissing off management appear to be true, however. Good article here: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/03/06/ber...t-of-no-return/

Probably use a 3rd on WR or pick someone off the FA market and then use a later pick on WR. If it's a 4th and a 5th I'm OK with this as long as they use the cap savings wisely. At 33 and after last season, Brandon wasn't likely going to be a top ten WR, going forward. And even though he was a solid citizen for the most part with us, you've always got to worry about him doing something really dumb. Now the Jets have that headache.

If you can't root for the Bears (which has basically ALWAYS been the case) then you're on the wrong board. All you do is bitch about every god damn thing. I'm friggen sick of it.

Ha. I do wonder what this means about Cutler's future. They just traded away his #1.
-
Are you 7 years old? Because if you're older than that you might remember a little more of Brigg's history than that.

Then get the f*ck outta here ya crybaby. I didn't want Marshall traded either but I need to hear the details. Quit whining.

Bears “exploring trade options” for wide receiver Brandon Marshall
CrackerDog replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
I almost wonder if this was more a reflection on Cutler than any of our WR's. Cutler had developed such a reliance on Marshall that when he was gone, Cutty was lost. I'm on record as wanting Marshall back but if they can clear caps space, get a good pick and find a suitable replacement who fits the new offense, I'll be OK with life after Brandon. -
Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out, Lance. You were a helluva player for us but you're an awful human being. I hope you find your way but I'm not banking on it. I see Lance being in jail someday in the near future. I hope I'm wrong.

Probably too old and I'd rather get younger at the DT position. But I just read he's not being picked up by the Pats so figured I'd ask your thoughts. He's big enough for NT, too. But he's also got some character issues.

Shocker: Cutler anonymously dissed by ex-coaches/players
CrackerDog replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
I think everyone would readily admit, Cutler is a huge douche. But at the same time these coaches are completely ball-less for going the anonymous route here. You can absolutely win with Cutler but I still don't like him personally. If he produces I'll get over it. -
It would be hypocritical of me to want this dirty ass piece of shit on the Bears. So I don't care what he brings in terms of talent, to me the character issues override my desire to see what he can do in Blue and Orange. I don't think a team needs to be made up of boy scouts but Suh is a special breed of dick I'd just as soon not have playing for my favorite team.

I agree. McCoy and Chip will have a hard time healing this wound. Wouldn't be surprised if they cut him to save the cap space. I'm hearing that's what Chip was after and Shady said no. And then they traded him with the caveat that he sign a long term deal with Buffalo, which he refused to do. I'm hearing this from a buddy, nobody official. So take it for what it's worth. Regardless, McCoy is a damn good player and should have a number of years left in him. It wouldn't surprise me if someone gets him for a song.

I guess it isn't a done deal.

Although I think you can use history of the DC and certain statements to come to the conclusion that we're moving to a 3-4 or some sort of hybrid 3-4. Other than that, I don't know. But it's fun reading everyone's comments and guesses, nonetheless.

I don't. I've never said otherwise. I leave all the "what ifs" and genius level prognostication to others.
-
I say no just because he looks too much like that kid from the movie Mask with Cher in it.
-
Regardless of whether they think this or not, they'll probably have to go with that theory until they get into it a bit. If those players aren't capable there are far too many holes to fill in one off season. And like Mad says, these coaches are big boys so if they decided to go this route, at least for now, I'd have to trust them.
-
It's obviously better to have your former players "in the fold" than otherwise. So I'm glad to see them making nice with each other again. That said, I don't think Brian was completely without blame here either. Hopefully his ego is soothed and the Bears have another problem put to rest here. Just one more reason to be happy about the front office changes they made.

Count me as one of the guys who definitely doesn't want to see Matt leave. I'm not disagreeing with those who feel it's time to part ways and get something for him, I just hate to see the second best Bears RB in my lifetime (Walter being #1 obviously) let go while he was still VERY productive. Neal Anderson is the only other guy even close. Matt produces, gives it his all, and plays 3 downs. I think he's got 3 years left in him, minimum. And because of his age we're not talking about huge numbers to resign him, IMO. I might approach him about his contract amounts next year but I'd love to see him back for at least next year. Not sure if we need his money for other things anyway since you can only sign so many guys in FA.

While I agree with you, my thought is McCown is CHEAP and if they cut Jay they'll want to "pay" for his cap hit with a cheap QB they think they can plug in for a season. So.... We could be seeing Josh back in town as our starter. And/or if they sign him it could be to use him as leverage to get Jay to restructure his contract such that the hit in 2016 is diminished. Either way, this is an interesting development.
