  1. It’ll be a slap on the wrist from the NFL if anything happens at all. They’re sending the right signals but at the end of the day, is the NFL going to suspend a coach for taking prospects out for hamburgers or sign stealing? It didn’t happen in the NFL so he’d win in court anyway. No jurisdiction so to speak. Harbaugh is just too fricken weird for my taste with the Bears. I do hope he’s successful but still glad they didn’t pursue him.
  2. The Wolverines were making him the highest paid HC in the NCAA with a clause that would keep him that…. So yeah, you’re 100% right Pix.
  3. I’m a big Wolverines fan in addition to being an even bigger Bears fan. No way I wanted Harbaugh here. I’ll leave it at that. The OP in this thread was way over top. This front office is a clown show? I strongly disagree.
  4. Also, just read that Shane was pursued by New England and two other teams and he chose the Bears. I assume that #1 pick has something to do with it.
  5. Reminds me of an old joke. “I stuck up for you! He said you weren’t fit to sleep with the pigs and I said you were!” As stated, the word defend in this case can mean many different things.
  6. Excellent! Now my restless heart can sleep well tonight. I think this is an outstanding hire. Almost wish they could’ve done it last year (know that wasn’t possible) so Fields had a full season to work in a real offense.
  7. If Fields is judged as flawed you’re 100% correct. I believe some teams will feel the Bears just did him no favors and they’ll be intrigued by how exciting he is. Kiper believes the Bears can get a second round pick for him or better so dropping back 6 picks in the first round has to be close to equivalent to that. NE would get two players in this scenario, a QB and a stud at 9. Instead of getting the third best rookie QB in the draft. They pick 3rd not 2nd. It might be doable.
  8. Ha! Until they schedule a press conference and he shows up I’m still going to be guarded. ?
  9. What about the Bears trade Fields to NE and flip their first for our second first. Then the Bears have two of the top three picks and can grab MHJ and the QB they love the best.
  10. Bernstein is one of the reasons I don’t listen to sports talk radio anymore. Although there are many more reasons.
  11. I haven’t seen anything that says this is a done deal yet so let’s be cautious. I remember some guy named McGinnis we thought we had hired and the Bears screwed that up. So……. Let’s be certain before we get too excited.
  12. Packers will be forced to extend Love and he isn’t Rodgers or Favre quality. They’re going to base it on a good, not great, back end of a season where they were 1 game over 500 and snuck into the playoffs. Good luck with that!
  13. Tampa winning in a blowout last night only makes me more pissed about the Bears this season. From start to finish they did a much better job of turning things around than the Bears.
  14. Olsen’s track record of being with teams no longer than two years is enough to tell me we don’t want him. Which only means he’s their #1 candidate.
  15. I added NFL Network for a few weeks towards the end of the season to watch some game (don’t remember) and then cancelled. Not going to pay for freakin Peacock. I’m watching a show on Netflix instead which I already have and get value from.
  16. My guess is yes, they’re going to try to find a proven commodity they can trust with this evaluation. Everyone on the staff right now is too close to the situation to be clear eyed. At the end of the day it’ll be Poles call but he’ll want someone telling him if he believes Fields is fixable.
  17. Unless I’m mistaken Fields has never led the Bears to a comeback victory. Maybe in his first season? To be “the guy” you need to show that you have that in you.
  18. I’m 100% in for Fields but would draft someone like McCarthy in the third. In the first round I only trade back to the extent I can still draft MHJ. Him and DJ with Kmet and our core of RBs could be deadly. Use the other top picks on edge or O Line (best available). I just don’t think they can walk away from Fields right now. Williams is far from a sure thing. And Fields would get you what in draft capital?
  19. Fields still holding onto the ball too long. Not capable of quick reads. But Getsy is also a huge part of the problem. These guys line up with 10 seconds or less on the play clock on most plays. No chance to look over the D when that’s the case. And he’s the least creative O Coordinator I’ve seen in a long time. When the team succeeds it’s always individual effort by someone overcoming the stupid play calls he’s made. What that means for Fields, who I desperately want to see succeed, I don’t know.
  20. Thanks. I couldn’t find a legit source either. Had to check here. ?
  21. Rumor is he’s getting a five year $93 million contract extension. Anyone know for sure?
