  1. I'm all for starting the season with Tru or going to him after a few games. He's putting up 7+ yards per attempt while Glennon is at 5.5. You can say he had easier defenses and you'd be right but I think getting him the most experience in his first year possible is going to be great for his future growth. Worked for Peyton. We mortgaged the future to get him, get him on the field! And Glennon's deal is really a one year. They overpaid for him but didn't exactly show a lot of confidence. We understand that now.
  2. Pace looks like smartest guy on the planet for Trubisky and a dumbshit for Glennon. What to make of it? Nothing in preseason game one. But if this continues and the results are consistent with what we've seen so far? Head scratcher.
  3. I get the feeling Cutler's Bears career is over unless Hoyer is injured.
  4. Offense under Low-gains is lousy. D secondary stinks. Major improvement needed or we're 6-10 this year.
  5. Agree. But with all the guys we signed I think cuts had to be made. Just don't understand Slauson being one of the first.
  6. LT's don't fall out of the sky. And without a good one the entire line is in jeopardy. Particularly with a question mark at center. We've made progress but there's work to be done.
  7. My son was considering both Ohio State and Michigan State so I watched both of these games this year. He OWNED both teams and I forgot all about him until the Bears made the pick. This is one hell of a seventh round pick! Pace got good value all weekend with almost every pick. If these guys fit Fangio's mold this will jumpstart the D and fill a few holes on O. I'm happy with the draft.
  8. I don't know enough about the players in the draft beyond the few teams I follow so you won't see me pretending to contribute on draft weekend. But I just want to thank you guys for making it more fun. There's a lot of knowledge and passion here and I appreciate it. Go Bears!!!
  9. How did I know this was going to be your take on it? LOL! I'm disappointed he's not going to finish out his career here but understand the move given the fall from grace the RB position has taken over the years, particularly for guys over 30. But yeah, if Langford goes down in the third game of the year or isn't the guy we all think he can be, I'm sure we'll hear a lot of "I told you so" out of you.
  10. No question. He's a class act and I'm sad to see him go elsewhere.
  11. I'd like to see Chico get his ring as a head coach. Always thought he got shafted by the Bears and Lovie.
  12. Agree. A rookie in that spot with a guard he should've been playing next too moved out to tackle just prior to the first regular season game of the year... He wasn't bad. Needs to step up in year 2 but so do most rookies. I'll give him an A for effort and a C+ for results.
  13. You're correct. I recall someone posting some stats that he graded out as the #1 tackle at some point early in the season. With that said, I'm with Jason. If we can find a solid tackle in the draft or FA I'd move Long back inside. IN A HEARTBEAT.
  14. Good point. But he's also got a lot of catches over the years.
  15. What may hurt worse than a change at OC will be the possible loss of Forte and Bennett. Two comfortable targets for Cutler. We'll see.
  16. Oddly we agree, I'm not excited about the hire either. Hope I'm wrong. With that said, I'm surprised we aren't hearing from the "Catering to Cutler" crowd since this is clearly an attempt to keep the same system in place so Jay can take another step forward. Bringing in an outsider would give him (and his fans) the ability to say "Yeah but... Another OC!" Not sure how it'll all work out but I kinda got used to an entire staff that was either former HC's or highly thought of candidates to become an HC. This is simply the price of hiring those well thought of folks. Unfortunately we didn't get the high level success that usually comes with losing people like Gase the following season. But in the end, I think even Gase would say 2015 wasn't his best year. I thought the offense was professionally run but it never blew my doors off. Not that I mind conservative offense when your D is so suspect...
  17. Not everyone can be as right as me... I was basing my opinion on how desperate teams are these days and the fact that Gase was a finalist last season for so many teams. I assumed he'd be high on the list and his efforts this year, bringing the Bears back to respectable and with Cutler's improvement... He didn't hurt himself. I wish him well and hope we continue to see the offense move in the right direction.
  18. Ain't NOBODY giving up 3 early round picks for Jay Cutler. This year's picks, next years, any firkin years.
  19. Well, considering 50% is a coin flip, 22% better (really 44% of the upside) isn't as impressive. But yeah, it's enough for me to say that drafting earlier has value and that's why teams give up extra shit (picks, players etc) to move up. If it had no value teams wouldn't do that.
  20. Yeah, Jason's point here doesn't make sense unless there was continuity on the front office throughout the period being evaluated. I'd give Forte a 2 year deal if he'd agree to be compensated like a 30 year old RB. I love the way he plays but you can't ignore that Langford looks very capable and Matt is 30 years old. With that said, if we do part ways with Forte, I hope it's done better than they did it with #54.
  21. All valid points. Thing is, usually when a team is bad enough to be thinking about doing something like this, the coaching staff is in a win at any cost mode to save their jobs. So I doubt you'd see it very often. Further, you don't just bench everyone, you do it subtly. Just use the opportunity to evaluate and coach up the guys who might otherwise not get PT if you were a legit contender.
