However, I'm not sold that Hester will ever be anything more than he is simply because he's a stupid bastard. But, I hope I'm wrong. If I'm not, we need a #1 and I doubt any of the kids can get there in Cutler's first year. With our D aging, we can't wait and wish... So, sign Plax, deal with the fallout and git'er done in the Superbowl. Oh, and if Turner turns Cutler into Orton, his NFL coaching career is over. I hope he's got it in him to design and call a high-powered gameplan. Of course, he'll need to balance the attack because of the winter months in Chicago, but I seem to recall Denver gets a little snow too. Turner is on the hotseat with Lovie.

Agree. But we need a few of those draft picks to pan out and we could still use help at WR and in the defensive backfield. If injuries aren't a big problem this season, we should be in there at the end. A huge key is production from the defensive line. If the coaching changes help there, we could have a dramatically better team than last year. Teams won't be able to play the Bears assuming 17 points will win the game. They'll need to score more and if we're getting pressure up front on D, that'll lead to turnovers. Getting Tommy healthy is critical.

Thanks for sharing this. Frankly I'd take Cutler over Romo right this minute (overall) but I'd absolutely go Manning over anyone else in your sample listed. Clearly there's something to be said for playing well in the first three quarters such that you don't have to be so "clutch" in the final quarter. But this is yet another reason to be excited about the coming season, no doubt. Thanks again. Now if can only get Plax, we're Superbowl bound!

I don't know who. Someone will have 80 to 100 catches on this team, however. And I wouldn't be surprised to see two guys in this territory. Cutler will get comfortable with a limited number of guys in his first season and they'll become his focus. That's my prediction.

I disagree. Someone will "emerge". Solid QB makes average WR's a lot better. Great WR's can improve good QB's but won't really help mediocre or bad ones.

This confirms much of what I've heard already. The price was too high and we didn't have the picks even if we wanted to pull the trigger. It'll be interesting to see what happens if Boldin continues to be miffed.

This is the kind of pick I'd expect from Jerry and in most years it would be a huge BUST. But we now have a QB so maybe JA's prototypical blazer with a huge upside makes sense now. Let's just hope he isn't a huge pussy like Bradley. I like the pick given our team make-up now.

This schedule isn't easy boys. The ranking is thrown way off because we get to play the Lyin's twice. There isn't anything easy about it beyond the 0-32 the Lyin's represent. If we win 10 or 11 games in that schedule we'll have earned every bit of our playoff berth. Mark my words, the problem with this year's team is going to be defense. Our secondary isn't strong and we can't rush the passer. We'll be scoring more which will help our D but I'm worried we let that side of the ball get old and we've hung our hat on Tommy in the middle who, quite frankly, ain't git'n er done.

Couldn't agree more. But the question was what are the ramifications and at this point, there aren't any. And I'm not sure they'll want to go out there and extend him with a big deal right away. Too many guys have disappeared after getting the big check... I'd say you sit down with him, be very honest, and tell him you'll do a deal with him in one year. That means with 2 left on his contract which is very fair. I'd then use the cap space we have available now to bring in a Marvin Harrison and front load other contracts for vets we want to extend today. Leaving ample space in next year's cap. (Note: I'm assuming above there won't be an uncapped year. I believe both sides will get a deal done in collective bargaining. Now is not the time, with the economy being what it is, for either side to chance killing this golden goose.)

Had to go through hell for the last several years before I decided to move on and divorce my wife. My son and I are living together and his mom is still working on staying sane/sober. The energy one expends in these circumstances is unreal. But everything was final in February and my son is doing great in school and is otherwise a very well adjusted 10 year old. Life is good.
