Trubisky QB Rating
So...speaking of QB ratings; I’ll be curious after tonight’s game to see how Beathard’s measures up to Trubiksy’s performance against GB..in GB. Beathard is looking pretty solid. And someone remind me again why the Bears got rid of Robbie Gould?

Bears at Dolphins Game Thread (12pm CDT, FOX, CHI -3, O/U 42.5)
Ha! Funny you say that, my wife and I were noticing how Hicks could barely stand up late in the 4th quarter and in OT. There were a few others that seemed to show they were sapped out late in the game, especially on defense.

Whatever they done must have clicked. Needed to knock off some of that rust. Looking a smidge better... lol

Coming out of the gate lethargic...and Mack is hurt. ?

Poor Brock! With three of his five starting OLmen down can you blame Tannehil for wanting to sit this one out? On the Bears side I see Amukamura and Miller are back. Would have like to seen more Tolliver.

Eagles Interested in Howard
*sigh* I should point out that John Clayton started this speculation. You know the “dumb” Hall of Fame writer? I thought I agreed to the point of him staying on the team especially for during bad weather. Or did you miss that part? And the part about how I’d prefer he not leave Chicago. ? But...As I earlier pointed out the Eagles are desperate (to add to their RB woes Sproles was recently hobbled by a hamstring) and the Bears certainly could use draft picks. And even if your super-‘special’ player Cohen were to get hurt, there’s still Cunningham, Nall and Mizzell on the roster. Although as AZ points out, Mizzell still has a long way to go before he can be trusted.

The real problem (for them) is that throughout his career Mack rarely sees one on one matchups and if they dare, it doesn’t go well for the opposition. I get the impression Tunsil isn’t 100% so that really means they’re screwed. And yeah, to have half the oline and part of the backfield focusing on Mack means the studs of the interior like Hicks and Goldman will have a field day. Kinda wish Cutler was still there. Something tells me they’ll be going to their backup (Fales?) before too long into the game.

So the question is; arm sleeve or no arm sleeve for Trubisky? I’m superstitious so I say ‘yes’. Lol.... https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2018/10/10/believe-in-the-sleeve-trubisky-will-wear-lucky-accessory-in-week-6/

Eagles Interested in Howard
Simply put, Howard is a known commodity where Nall is not. And you're right, he (Nall) probably does have better characteristics that fit this scheme more so than does Howard. Nevertheless, the Eagles are desperate and like I previously mentioned lost both Blunt and Ajayi within the last season. Having a back like Howard, who has unquestionably improved in his passing game, certainly would be appealing to Philly. All that being said and as I iterated before I would absolutely hate to see Howard leave. Even though Nagy doesn't seem to know how to use him right now, as others have posted here, Howard certainly has value in games where we need to grind it out and is a commodity when the weather turns to crap. **EDIT** As I finished this up I see in Bleacher Report rumors are that the Eagles may be more interested in getting LeSean McCoy back. That to me makes more sense as he (McCoy) is more the type back they ultimately need.

Eagles Interested in Howard
Funny you bring this up; I was just reading an article where it appears Jordan is getting frustrated with his role (or lack) on offense. From what I read he refused to talk to the media after the TB game and if anyone noticed, wasn’t used a lot in that game. Now if you pair that with the off season discussion about him being potential trade fodder (rumor or no), our team’s need for more draft picks, the relationship between Nagy and Peterson and their (Eagles) sudden need for a premier back with both Blunt and now Ajayi lost ... well you’d have to ask why shouldn’t it happen? I love Jordan but am reminded regularly the NFL is a business. And as much as I don’t think Cohen will last a full season, they are different style backs. And frankly Jordan isn’t getting the opportunities he once had. Hell they aren’t even doing zone blocking anymore which is where he excels. He’s expected to be more a power runner where he runs into the back of the blockers. It ain’t working. At the rate he’s going he’ll end up with just over 800 yards which is much less than he’s done his previous two years.

Young QB Comparison
For me Mahomes is fun to watch but I’m glad he’s on someone else’s team. I’ve heard too many comparisons to Favre and Cutler due to his gunslinger mentality and style of play. I think we’re better off without someone like that for the time being. So far he’s lucked out and as someone else pointed out, it’s only a matter of time where he starts to get desperate. I’ve always been a fan of Watson’s. Had it not been the knee injury from last year there’s no telling where he would’ve ended up. My appreciation for him comes more from his leadership ability, especially on the big stage and his raw experience in the D1 level. Trubisky still has a ways to go before I personally ‘buy in’ but I do see flashes of potential. Until the game against TB he looked to me more like a younger Alex Smith but with happy feet, which is fine. But last week he made me think more of Rodgers with not only his mobility but showed me that he can throw to his left and deep downfield. Keep doing what you’re doing Mitchell or Mitch.

Rashaad Coward vs. Khalil Mack
For as maligned as I am about Pace I really need to give him kudos for this. And really Virginia and fam, for putting all they did into getting Mack. He truly defines the phrase ‘generational player’. Excellent at what he does and just a great human being. In sorta a related topic; was watching the Pats / Colts game last night and got to thinking about this Walter Payton Man of the Year thing the NFL has been doing. And how they recently decided past recipients get to wear the logo (below) on their jersey for the remainder of their careers. Players like Eli Manning, Drew Brees, JJ Watt and our own Peanut Tillman have all had that distinction. Yet here we have a 20(?) year vet in Tom Brady who himself has been the NFL and Super Bowl MVP (more than once) and never received this distinction. Hmmm.

Power Rankings (National Media Bandwagon hopping begins)
I'm with you. It certainly feels great to see our team do as well as it has but we have to take it with a grain of salt. Most of us here have been fans long enough to know that one or two games don't necessarily make for an overall successful season. We need to see measured and sustained success to know that it'll stick. Otherwise we find ourselves looking at players like Darnold, Watson, Mayfield or even Mahomes and declaring the Jets, Texans, Browns and KC all turned around and having equal shots at winning the Super Bowl. One thing we do know is that our defense has made measured and progressive improvement in each of the years Fangio has been in the lead. And this despite not having a player named Mack on the team. He just made a very good defense, exceptional. I think our offense is decent, but until we see sustained and constant positive growth we can't declare it great.

Bucs at Bears Game Thread (12pm CST, FOX, CHI -3)
Not one game does a career make. I think for the "Nelly Negatives to jump on board" you'd need to see measured and sustained progress. Similar to how Cutler would play lights out in one game then stink it up the next. With Trubisky its fair to say this last game could be a measure of things to come, or not. But we certainly have increased optimism because he can play that good, even if it was against the worst rated pass defense.

James Daniels First Game
I saw him flash by in one play and commented on it during the game thread. I think others thought I was talking about Chase Daniel but compared this Daniels to Kush and from what I saw, Daniels looked good. Better than Kush for sure. He's hard to miss, a massive presence when in the lineup.

For me Kevin Toliver will be the one to watch. We know the potency for TB is their passing game right now. And with Amukamura out, it looks as though the UDFA out of LSU is up. Some say he has a similar style of play to Peanut. Wonder why that is? ? I suspect he’ll get help over the top from Jackson.

Anthony Miller - Any news
Depends on what you’re talking about; specifics or generalities? I’ll go with the latter and qualify it by he (Wims) satisfies the eye test. Below are their (Wims and Ridley) draft prospect comparisons. And even with there being some pretty close similarities there are some differences too, althoughbeit small. I personally prefer the bigger wideouts. Wims is bigger at 6’3” / 215#. And although Ridley has a slight edge in the 40 and cone drill Wims out performed Ridley on both the vertical and broad jumps. To answer your question, yes I believe Wims could beat Ridley...if given the chance. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/javon-wims?id=32462018-0002-5600-889e-860db0dfb6ed https://www.nfl.com/prospects/calvin-ridley?id=32462018-0002-5600-1177-bcdc902b08a4 and lastly, here’s an article that directly compares the two late in the season last year. I give an edge to Ridley only because he had more time in his system where Wims was a JuCo transfer the year prior. https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/javon-wims-vs-calvin-ridley-star-will-steal-show-monday-night/

Anthony Miller - Any news
FWIW I hope that Miller proves to be something. I was (am) a fan of Ridley’s and to be honest see a lot of simularities between he and Wims. Ultimatley though Ridley ended up in a pretty sweet spot. Playing alongside and learning from co-Bama grad Julio Jones. And having Matt Ryan throwing to him.

Anthony Miller - Any news
No, there were rumors that Pace had been trying to get back late in the 1st round to get Ridley...as cited from "The Chicago Sports Column": "He (Pace) reportedly was trying to trade back into round one on Thursday to draft Alabama receiver Calvin Ridley. So his pursuit of Miller shouldn’t have been too surprising." https://chicagosportscolumn.com/bears/ryan-pace-anthony-miller-bears/ Wouldn't have affected at all the team drafting Smith.
-
Anthony Miller - Any news
It’s simple, it’s time for White to contribute - or he gone. AND time to get Wyms out there. In other news, Calvin Ridley (the WR that Pace allegedly was looking at instead of Miller) has gotten 11 Rec for 210 yds and scored 4 TDs.

Let's take a beat...
Well based on what AZ said earlier with regards to what he’s seen on other boards, several non-experts (aka fans) are losing patience with Trubisky. That is not a unique issue based on a few articles floating around that I’ve seen. Most of the posters here are exhibiting the optimism and faith (misguided or no) and believe Trubisky will eventually trend in the right direction.
