Was watching a post game interview with Mitchell { } and gotta say this kid is growing on me. You can tell that he’s learning and even admitted to wanting to have more passes but instead ‘chose to take the sacks’ rather than do something risky (ala Cutler). He recognizes his own shortcomings but there is no question Loggains and the o-line are not holding up their end of the deal. I am still confounded why, despite their saying they’d do since Cutler, the offense has hardly used the zone scheme with bootlegs and roll outs. That was easily Cutlers strength and based on how well he did with Minnesota, Trubisky too. Why are we keeping this guy immobile? Makes no sense. One thing I have noticed on a few of Mitchell’s longer throws (20+ yards) is that he has a tendency to float them. He did it last game against Baltimore and again this game a few times. Fortunately they were out patterns or outside shoulder so they go out of bounds but I have seen him do it once or twice on skinny posts and seam routes in the middle. Those can be dangerous. I noticed in this interview that he noted on the long pass to Cohen the safety was busy with Sims so that in and of itself is encouraging. He’s obviously learning plenty. And very humble about it.

Crap.... I thought he was on the PS. Ugh...
-
Plain and simple. Trubisky is better as a mobile roll out passer at this point in his career. They don’t have to do it everytime, just enough to horizontally stretch the field. Opposing teams are able to crunch the offense between the hashes. This standing in the pocket like a statue thing is what got Glennon demoted.
-
You were saying?
-
Hate to agree (again) but couldn’t agree more! Lol!!!
-
^^ this ^^. What the MAN said!

My wife and I were just discussing how much better Trub looked in his first game when he was bootlegging. Having him stand in the pocket isn’t working.
-
Have to ask again; why isn’t Trub doing bootlegs? He clearly isn’t ready for pocket reads yet.

Technically Wheaton has one catch for 4 yards. But the current offensive struggles are more due to the relative incompetency on play calling. Believe me, I’d rather they had a big bodied receiver on the team (hello Garçon I’m looking at you) than all these slot receivers. But even then, Meredith hasn’t proven he’s better than them ... yet.
-
Wouldn’t say that but to think Meredith is better than any of the current receivers is premature. I’ll agree the play calling is a huge piece to it. Wheaton, Wright and Miller all have potential to be decent if given the opportunity.

Compared to what? His ONE complete season?

Loggains needs to be fired right now

Zach Miller and Kendall Wright.

I LOVE ME SOME ALABAMA D!!!! We should ALWAYS draft at least one Alabama defender every year.
-
Weren’t there some doubters here about whether Chicago’s D was top 5? Lol!!!!

Whitehair’s shotgun snaps definitely leave something to be desired. Happened a few times to Glennon and at least twice more in yesterday’s game. One went way over Trubiskys head and rolled into the end zone. Trub was able to grab it and throw it away but was awfully close to being downed in the EZ. If he’s better at Tackle, it’s time to move him. Sowell filled in briefly for Whitehair before and didn’t seem to do all that bad. And I though part of the lure for Compton was his ability to cover all three interior spots? Maybe try him?

Amen! The playcalling was atrocious. Looked like they decided to revert to the offense they had set up with Glennon. Understand that they lack high quality WRs but have him at least run the offense he’s more effective in. That being zone with roll outs. Standing in the pocket against a defense like Baltimore is going to get him killed. Positive takaways are the Bears are 2-0 against the AFC and with the Packers losing today, only two games out from the division lead. Lol!!!
-
Is that Glennon out there wearing Trubiskys uniform? What happened to the roll outs from last week?

Rodgers injured, broken collarbone on throwing shoulder
Alaskan Grizzly replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
Yeah the hit was questionable for sure. Rodgers was not happy afterwards. Isn’t that the same injury he got when McClellin took him out a few years ago? -
Bears need to find a good big body FA WR or make a trade...NOW!!
-
Agreed. He needs to be able to do some sort of audible and call out of those stacked defensive fronts.
-
Where the hell did this Kyle Fuller kid come from? Damn...he’s looking good today. And Amos is playing like a SS should.

We missed on Ahmad Brooks earlier this year ( he ended up with GB). My vote is unequivocally and unquestionably YES!!!!

In the context of ‘better at longer passes’ I mean to suggest that Watson was like Trubisky starting out with doing more short and choreographed passes. With time he’s getting more comfortable with the longer range and longer read passes. I don’t know of anyone that wanted to put Prescott or Watson up for HOF consideration this early; maybe except for those living in Texas. I would certainly categorize them both as serviceable and perhaps starter quality QBs. Which for Chicago (based on our dismal history at the position) would almost be HOF worthy. I’m still of the opinion that although the Dallas Oline is considered top notch then why is Elliott only getting 3.7 yards a carry this year as opposed to 5.1 last year? And although he did end up with the most overall yardage last year, our very own Jordan Howard came in a close second? This despite starting four games into the season and having an inferior line?

Funny, was just reading a reponse on another string about how Wheaton won out over a player like Thompson probably because of money. Then this happens...what a joke. Someone else pointed out that although his draft picks are still being judged, Pace’s ability to adequately judge FAs leaves something to be desired.
