Not sure I think they're five weeks late, but probably could've pulled the trigger sooner. In the Atlanta game Glennon did pretty well (all things considered) and nearly won the game. Had it not been for drops by Howard and Bellamy at the very end of the game, we would have had a different thought of him going into week two. I think against the Bucs they were wanting to see how well he would do then gauge whether they should consider moving forward. However when he turned the ball over twice in that game it should've started bells going. Maybe in week three they were worried about putting Trubisky against the Steelers? Who knows (when was it they actually declared him #2?). But by week four (last week) they really should've known things weren't going to go well. I mean of his 15 completions in the Pittsburgh game only one was to a WR.

Except that in this case you have a pocket passer (Glennon) playing in what appears to be a zone-style offense. Without knowing what type offense he ran in TB I can only go off of what I have seen with his time in Chicago. We know Loggains (and Gase before) prefer the mobile QB zone offense because they talked about it when Cutler was with the Bears. They never really depoloyed it too much (or Cutler didn't run it right) but nevertheless, its become painfully obvious that Trubisky and Glennon right now are different style QB's. Could Trubisky some day become a pocket passer? Sure. But right now he's not. The fact that Pace and company didn't identify that sooner concerns me. Anyhow, from the looks of things it would seem they have a QB that can actually run the style of offense they want to run. After the Atlanta game it was pretty obvious to most that Glennon simply wasn't comfortable playing his part. Is that Loggains fault for not catering to his style of play? Probably, but again, at this point its too late. Time to move on. FWIW Deshaun Watson was available well after our original 3rd pick.

I think the Bears will have the edge on defense, mostly depending on how well Trubisky does. I predict a big game for Deonte Thompson. But their #2 QB Keenum is having a career year with 755 yards passing / 3 TDs / 0 INTs and a 94.4 passer rating. Their #2 running back? Latavius Murray. One year removed from a Pro Bowl. Our guys cannot go to sleep on them. If the D plays like they did against Pittsburgh then they might fare pretty good
-
I think, as discussed before, we go in knowing Goff was put into a very similar situation last year and set our expectations there; we'll be pleasantly surprised. Personally I hope that Trubisky fares better earlier and Fox doesn't leave but that's just me.
-
Our team can't go to sleep on Keenum and their backup RB is Latavius Murray who is no slouch (pro bowl last year with Oakland).
-
Now that's funnny! I don't care who you are.

Just for reference; as of this post the Dolphins are down by two scores to the Saints and Cutler just fumbled. Dolphins did manage to recover it...

So I'm curious; how did Pace, Fox and I'm guessing Loggains decide to go with Glennon? With players like AJ McCarron, Case Keenum and Jacoby Brisset out there, what made Glennon that appealing? Keep in mind this is the same staff that pulled off a CIA worthy covert meet and workout with Trubisky to eventually make some bold moves to secure him in the draft. Should we be concerned on how they, as a group, judge talent? Or was Glennon expected to be the straw man all along? Surely they had to see this happen?

was there anything good about this game?

FWIW, I really like Tony Romo in the booth. He and Troy Aikman are (IMHO) two that do the best. (Weird that they're also both former Dallas QBs). -

As much as I despise Sanchez, I'd agree with this. But would still prefer Trubisky. -

Agreed. This is not the offense for Glennon. This is a zone style offense with designed roll outs and anticipated QB movememnt. (Remember when they said they were going to use it with Cutler but never did?). Glennon is clearly not this type QB. I was even thinking last night that in the time he played for TB to now he's gotten absolutely horrible. I think the big key to that is simply the offense. When you have a player like Jordan Howard who despite his shoulder totally on the verge of falling off and he's still playing; you as a coach and manager owe him better. It's time for Tribuisky. -
Totally agree. For as brutal a hit as it was I'm not at all convinced this was intentional; at least in the regards of him trying to hurt the guy. Did he intend to hit him hard? No doubt. They had a panel of guys on NFL network last night with Willie McGinist, Dave Carr and someone I didn't recognize (apparently played for Denver with Trevathan). McGinist and the other guy said Trevathan is known as a thumper and this type of hit is his style. They didn't think he was our head hunting. Carr said his initial reaction (as an offensive player and friend of Adams) was that it was intentional but after listening to the other two he reconsidered his stance. During the game and hit you could hear Tony Romo said he thought the hit was a sign of frustration. You make a great observation that the whistle hadn't been blown. And I think most players will tell you they're told to play to the whistle. I've seen some compare Trevathan to Burfict after last night. Still don't see it. His locker room interview afterwards seemed pretty conciliatory and he was even heard apologizing for the hit; something I'm pretty sure Burfict would never do. He repeated a few times that he never sought out to hurt Adams and would even try to contact him to check on him later.

What you want to bet the Bears will get called at least 3:1 times more than the Packers for penalties?
-
So while we wait to see what Trubisky can do for us; DeShaun Watson keeps on producing. Watson and his gamecheck
-
Speaking of Trubisky, where was he last week? Seems if he's #2 on the QB line up he'd be hovering somewhere near Glennon during change of possession. Saw more than I wanted of Sanchez and he wasn't even in uniform. But no sign of Trubisky. Was he at the game?
-
Ok now that we've beat that play to death, what the hell happened on the Cooper f*ck up play? Shouldn't that have been a safety? Although upon further review and considering the end score at regulation we were better with the FG.
-
And to imagine if they'd somehow managed to convert that last series against Atlanta. 2-1 is what we'd be looking at. This despite Glennon, sometimes more penalty yards than offensive yards, Glennon, occasional turnovers and Glennon.

Weird. The SJ was literally parallel to Tarik where he went out. Where would the DJ be positioned at the start of the play? Is he the one in the offensive backfield at the start of the play? I did notice the BJ(?) didn't indicate a TD after Cohen crossed the line and after looking towards the area where Cohen 'may' have gone out.
-
I'm still confused why they called Tarik out. The SJ on that side of the field can be seen running behind Tarik after he allegedly stepped out. Had he been ruled out wouldn't the SJ have stopped at the point of the 'out' to mark it? Rather it sounded like an official on the opposite side of the field called him out(?). From what perspective?

Funny you said this. It's Imagine Dragons but different song:

Maybe the time on the pine will help Amos up his game a bit. He's a very capable 'in the box' safety. Just needs to work on coverage skills.

I had seen something earlier this year where Floyd was asked about his thoughts on how more effective he'd be this year and he said something to the effect of 'they've' been working on his technique to make him better and to avoid injury. It would appear whoever 'they' were should've left it alone. I saw one play yesterday where Floyd had a bead on Rapelisburger and for some reason Floyd jumped in the air right before hitting him. Ben simply stepped to his left (I think it was) and Floyd went right by. It was like seeing someone in bball being juked by Charles Barkley. It shouldn't happen.

In the context of getting a rookie QB some experience; D. Watson went toe to toe (in Foxborough) with Tom Brady and nearly won. Threw 301 yds with 2 TDs and 2 INTs (he's a rookie). Can't get that experience watching from the sideline.

Jordan Howard is a god. No quit in this kid!!!

That was probably one of the worst series of events I've ever witnessed as a Bears fan. I should be ecstatic they are ahead 17-7 but I'm not. It's almost they don't want to win.
