  1. Some of the footage I’ve seen on Jones is that he’s a bit sloppy on his routes. Admittedly I didn’t see a lot of film but then again I’m no NFL level scout either. Since we’re on the subject, I’m trying to figure out if it came down between Jones and Newsome making the roster, who wins? Jones’ stats seem to mostly focus on his return yards whereas Newsome played WR all four years (at the same school) with one of them (his Junior year) being more than 1,000 yards. Jones’ best year garnered him just over 800 yards receiving last year. Jones has the edge on the 40 time so maybe that comes into play?
  2. Funny, he’s still younger than Rookie WR Velus Jones (25) who hasn’t played an NFL game either. Sucks about Horstead. All he did was catch TDs.
  3. Not sure if it belongs here but Bears pick up WR Chris (who) Finke off waivers from KC. Was a walk on to ND and UDFA originally to SF before KC signed him last January.
  4. Overall I like what appears to be Poles’ trying to build a team through the draft. Besides Hicks’ excitement to be a Bear, Brisker is my favorite player coming out of the draft. From initial reports he appears to be a true ‘in the box’ SS and thumper. Something we haven’t really seen since Amos…himself also a Penn State grad.
  5. I think the initial comment was ‘tongue in cheek’. Teague isn’t the player he once was. More a FB than RB these days anyhow.
  6. I saw him get picked up as an UDFA. He will be an intriguing player to watch. Seems more fit for a FB role…maybe? If not for injuries (blown Achilles in 2020 being one) he’d have probably gone higher.
  7. Not the smartest thing anybody’s ever done but not the worst. Oh to be a fly on the wall to see how Eberflus addresses it.
  8. I get the impression Poles is ‘diamond in the rough’ type of guy. Having been a UDFA himself he can appreciate players that may not have a lot of hype but can prove their worth through hard work and effort. Obviously it’s too soon to say this is how he evaluates players but the trend seems headed that way.
  9. I just had to LMAO when I saw this. Since Aaron Rodgers was in it, I assumed it was ok to post here. Go Bulls!!
  10. How about February 2017? It was Stinger looking into his crystal ball. Not sure if Davenport came up in discussion after that: Stinger226 Posted February 28, 2017 Since we now know more information, my new want list is: Tony Jefferson/SS He has played well and will receive a big pay day. Stephen Gilmore/CB I think he is more of a play maker than most of the other FAs. Calais Campbell/5T I preferred Short but got tagged. he will command a big contract. Jack Doyle/TE Hes has a history with our new WR coach that may bring him here. He is an excellent blocker which we need at TE. Russel Okung The best LT available and still 28 (Kelvin Beachum is not as good a player but would be a upgrade over Leno and cost less) I figure we wont be getting Jeffery to stay home so we now add a WR to our list of needs. draft: still need a FS-CB - edge rusher- QB prospect 1) trade back to 12 and get extra picks from Cleveland 2nd and 3rd rounders 1-12 Kizer/QB 2a Buddy Baker/FS 2b Gareon Conley/CB 3a Zay Jones/WR 3b Derek Rivers/OLB 4a Carlos Henderson/WR 4b Julian Davenport/OT 5 Josh Tupou/DT 7 Zane Gonzales/K
  11. On the one hand I would absolutely hate to see Deebo end up on the Packers. But on the other, it would be funny to see them drop that kinda loot only to flame out during the first round of the playoffs.
  12. Saw something (can’t find it again) that he was somewhere else training(?) and wasn’t able to get there for start of this camp. Maybe nothing but sure Flus is keeping notes. Offense had nearly perfect attendance. One other thing to track is that Roquan was there as he was last year. Dude is definitely worth his weight in gold.
  13. Eberflus is saying all the right things…so far. One absence of note: Eddie Jackson. And they brought in a few players to try out. A little background on each: https://www.bleachernation.com/bears/2022/04/19/the-bears-hosted-5-players-for-minicamp-tryouts/?fbclid=IwAR1lztv2glDNpnIwiW4IbDrrRMwM-9g4z60awO4yY7_XEL__Cb-ecBS2ilI
  14. Not a bad option. What I like is he’s played with Fields. And he’s a decent pass catcher and run blocker. Watch the second block he makes on an LB (about 5-6th clip in). Spectacular.
  15. I had read Cruckinshank and Young might be competing for NB and that Graham would be hoped to fill the other outside corner. Leaving the SS open for draft or still to come FA. And potentially with a signing by Hitchens not as much need at LB. Suspect draft will be looking at offense for first 2-3 picks.
  16. Former Bears PS player and third/fourth backup RB Ryan Nall has moved on. Thank your for your long-standing service sir.
  17. Former KC LB, current FA Anthony Hitchens paid Chicago a visit. Connection to both Poles (KC). and Eberflus when they were both in Dallas.
  18. Hell, at this point I'd be happy if they signed an Alabama alum in Julio Jones. One year deal...nothing fancy.
  19. Didn’t see it anywhere and on the surface not huge news but apparently Williams went to Atlanta. Which leaves Herbert as one of the primary backups. To me thats a good thing.
  20. Agreed. If you use Poles’ successful construction of the Chiefs’ oline from last year as a small sample, it seems he’s using that technique and picking bargain players to fill in gaps of need rather than splashy players that cost a lot. I recently discussed with someone how he (the other guy) was disappointed in the Bears not getting Ogunjobi and the FA was a fail for us. I said if you look at stats from last year and compare Ogunjobi with Muhammad, I don’t think it’s as bad as you’d think. Ogunjobi had 49 tackles and 7 sacks where Muhammad had 48/6. Ogunjobi would’ve cost 3 yrs at $40.5 million ($13.5 each year) whereas Muhammad cost 2 hrs at $10 million ($5 million each year). And he played in Eberflus’ system. Add in the pickup of Justin Jones (37 tackles 3 sacks) who cost 2 years at $12 million and I think Poles did just fine.
  21. Digging deep into the Twitterverse, saw this Tweet about Cruckishank. The article suggested the Bears take a look. Hey four years later ain’t bad.
  22. Looks as though Eberflus is keeping an open mind to a few of the players on defense. Really hope Eddie seizes on this opportunity.
