  1. While reading up on the new GM found some encouraging news for those of you O-lineman fans and the need for more ‘better’ ones. From the below article: “Back to the Chiefs rebuilding their offensive line after it failed them in the Super Bowl in 2020. They drafted new center Creed Humphrey, signed offensive guard Joe Thuney and traded for left tackle Orlando Brown. The revamped offensive line finished in the top 10 of Pro Football Focus (PFF) rankings and were in the top five for sacks allowed (28), meanwhile, the Bears gave up the most sacks (58) on the year. It should be noted that many have given Ryan Poles credit for finding Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey in the 2021 NFL Draft.” Poles himself a former o-lineman will probably focus on that first thing if he agrees it needs to be enhanced. https://beargoggleson.com/2022/01/25/chicago-bears-hire-ryan-poles-gm/amp/3/
  2. Allegedly Poles insisted on doing his own HC hire. Thats a good sign.
  3. Adding this here. And have no intention of turning this into a political discussion. Just that Rodgers proves how much of an out of touch douche he can be. Most of us Bears fans wanted you and your team to lose because as you were so kind to remind us earlier this season you “owned us”. But really Aaron there are a plethora of reasons we wanted the Pack to lose. Fuc# Rodgers!
  4. I hope you're right. I'm not 100% convinced that Andy Reid doesn't make a majority of the offensive play calls. However if I'm wrong and Bieneny is the one that does it, I hope he's more Pedersen less Nagy. Edit: no sooner do I post then I see this on Twitter.
  5. Agree with all this. And with a younger GM might not be so bad to go with a veteran HC. Yes it sounds like a song we’ve heard before but this time the GM will have more say on who that guy is. Or so we hope.
  6. They won’t have to change too many letters on the nameplate for his office sign. Not sure what to think. Some have pointed out his being younger than Pace when he was hired. And that he’s been a scout for a fair portion of his career. Then there’s the KC connection (like Nagy). Understand that he’s been directly involved with a lot of talent that KC has brought in for the last few years; which is great. Hope that he has a more realistic approach to building teams. I liked one of the candidates’ theory on building from within, meaning they stick with their drafts and build that way more than relying on FAs. Then there’s the conspiracist that suggests since he played at Boston College with Matt Ryan surely he’ll consider Dan Quinn for HC. Which I guess isn’t the worst thing in the world.
  7. Looks like Poles is in town. George even picked him up.
  8. I believe Polian's kids played HS football with Daboll. This from AL.com: "Daboll went to high school with Los Angeles Rams general manager Tom Telesco, Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell, former Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Polian and former Nevada head coach and current Notre Dame special teams coach Brian Polian. It was Brian Polian who first connected Daboll and Saban. After a year as a graduate assistant at Michigan State under Saban, Polian landed a job as an assistant coach at Buffalo. Knowing Saban would need a new GA, Polian recommended Daboll." Full article here: https://www.al.com/alabamafootball/2017/03/its_come_full_circle_the_path.html
  9. A fair bit of discussion about a ‘Colts package deal’ on Twitter. Among them:
  10. Agree 100% but for all the points you make, and that Rodgers has been a general D-bag this year (IMHO) is good to see them go out. I've had discussions with a few fans in person and through social media that love to say how much our team sucks. When I remind them that usually GB isn't far behind the Bears when it comes to leaving the season without going to the SB they say 'yeah, not this year'. Yet here we are. Speaking on the special teams. Given all four games this weekend were decided by 3-6 pts (only KC and Buff were the oddity at 6 but due to OT) there is even more emphasis on that phase doing well. We are all too familiar with that from when Parkey kicked for us. Anyhow, I couldn't help but notice the on-going stroking the announcers (mostly Romo) were doing about Butker being the best kicker in the league after Justin Tucker and how good he was. Right after Romo talks about how he has the 'cleanest kick arc' (or something ridiculous) he goes and misses wide right. Then nearly misses another later in the game. And "Parkey'ed" one of his XPs. So even when you have a "sure thing" like Butker on your team, nothing is guaranteed. That being said, I agree with you. I like where our ST is currently. Santos isn't the best out there but by in large he's done pretty damn good (the best we've had since Gould... IMHO). And Grant is something special for sure. Once they decide on the new HC I'm hoping ST isn't one they tinker with too much.
  11. My bust, I had that backwards. Yeah Fraziers D struggled especially at the end of the game.
  12. Yeah they played until the final whistle for sure. Watch out for them in the future. After their offense got exposed a bit I’m a little tarnished on Daboll as HC. He and Frazier are free to hire now.
  13. Wow what a game that LAR vs TB game was!!! Another decided by a field goal at the very end after LA had a 27-3 lead at half!! But…so far all the home teams (both the 1st seeds and one 2nd seed) are out of the playoffs. And no QB named Rodgers, Roethlisberger or Brady will be in the Super Bowl. Pretty damn cool!
  14. One other little social media provided nugget. How does the acronym go? ROTFLMAO ?.
  15. What’s more is how the GB fans are melting down on Twitter (and presumably elsewhere). Many saying they want Rodgers gone because ‘he can’t go deep into the playoffs’ and it’s ‘time to start Love’! Lol…God we can only hope.
  16. Sorry but Robbie Gould kicking Aaron Rodgers out of the playoffs is worth it’s own thread. #SFownsRodgers. Always a Bear. And both the 1st round bye teams are out. “Any given Sunday.”
  17. Had heard the same thing about Quinn. Same about Flores, something about him being from the Bronx(?) area? I was reading up on Caldwell as I recall him doing better in Indy when he took over for Dungy…at least for a few years. Guess who was the GM at Indy when Caldwell was HC? Polian.
  18. Yup…that is a thought being circulated. While watching NFL this Morning one of the hosts said there was a connection between Daboll and Polian but didn’t say what it was. Maybe this?
  19. Herbert is similar (and talent wise maybe better) but lacks the aggressive killer instinct you say Allen has. In watching Herbert play this year (and considering he’s a few years behind Allen) I could see both being the next generation of Roethlisberger and Rodgers. With Burrow and hopefully Fields rounding out the group. Thought I’d add this as I just saw it on Twitter. Pretty cool.
  20. Anyone who has played with Fields; Olave, Garrett Wilson or even Jameson Williams (who played with Fields in 2020) would be great options. Williams is probably gonna slip in the draft too with his recent ACL injury. With pairings like Burrow and Chase in Cincy and Hurts and D. Smith in Philly can’t help but think Fields pairing up with one of his college mates would be a huge boost to his production.
