  1. I REALLY like any draft board that involves Mond! Most of the other picks all seem pretty solid. Still not sure about Meinerz. I’m guessing you see him as a depth player since both Whitehair and Mustipher already cover the position as needed? And Daniels could too in emergencies.
  2. Alaskan Grizzly

    Mongo

At first I was concerned for you. All the best to him. That is a challenge for sure!
  3. Epilepsy in today's world isn't nearly as debilitating as it once was. I think like with most anything meds and close oversight it can be managed within reason. I'd equate it to learning about Cutler having diabetes a couple years into his career. He was able to successfully manage his performance even though diabetes can be a real bitch if not managed properly. I agree that its commendable of Fields to come forward about it, especially this close to the draft. But it speaks more to his character that he's willing to do that knowing it could affect his draft value. And to me that's a pretty cool thing. Props to him.
  4. Valid. Having brought in Jones does make you wonder if for nothing else he's a depth player. And with Trevathan getting older and is slow anyhow, maybe that's why they brought him in. However a couple 'what if's could be applied to Smith. He was hurt twice(?) last year and lost some playing time because of it. They brought in former first round pick Teo as his back up which didn't pan out (as since he's been released). The other scenario that I recently considered; wasn't he part of the trade package that the Bears were looking at using for acquiring QB Wilson when they were negotiating with Seattle? Still have to think that he could be a consideration for trade value if the team sees the need whatever the case. So maybe they need an ILB for other reasons than just backing up Danny?
  5. Saw this today from a not-so reliable source. I suppose on the surface it makes sense. Brown wants out of Baltimore but at 24 and having been in the last two Pro Bowls can’t see the Bears really being in play. But Miller was mentioned as a trading piece so maybe? https://heavy.com/sports/chicago-bears/anthony-miller-orlando-brown-trade-rumors/
  6. But they re-signed Ifedi. A former 1st rounder himself. ?
  7. QB prospects always intrigue me and I've seen this name pop up time and again for Chicago across various draft boards. He's an interesting candidate for us especially if he can be had in the 3rd round. Coming out of HS he was the #2 QB prospect behind Tua. He pretty much was the starter for Texas A&M (an SEC school mind you) all four years there compiling a 33-16 record to include three bowl wins. (A hell of a lot better than our last "Franchise QB prospect"). Watching film on him shows some issues with pre-snap reads and consistency on completions (and he has a bit of an awkward stance). The longer he's played he's worked more on his pocket presence and has mobility if he needs to use it. In using the Bill Parcells model of a potentially successful NFL QB he meets 6 of the 7 criteria. He and Trevor Lawrence were the only two who reached this mark. I'd say if the Bears can get him, they should. https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2021-nfl-draft-qb-class-bill-parcells-rules
  8. No to ANY trade up scenario for QB. As I posted elsewhere, if Kellen Mond is still there in the 2nd round, take him.
  9. 1- Oline (Tackle) it pains me to agree with you on this. Lol 2 - QB 3 - Safety (if they don’t get Gipson back) 4 - WR 5 - ILB or Dline
  10. I think it was the other way around (Glennon backed up Wilson while at NC State). Allegedly Wilson’s transfer had something to do with him wanting to play baseball in the offseason for the Rockies(?) and the head coach at NC State wouldn’t let him. So off to Wisconsin he went.
  11. In this scenario I think Adam proposed going up to 4 or 5 in the draft to get him. I’m not sure he’s worth the type of capital needed to do that. If he’s still available at 20 then sure...maybe.
  12. I found the Tweet about Steve Young being "plugged into BYU" funny. Being that he is the great-great-great Grandson of Brigham Young and played there too. To answer the question about Fields 'no'. Admittedly I haven't seen a lot of tape on the guy but when the pressure was on during this most recent Nat'l Championship against 'Bama, he didn't look the part. In reading up on him I see that he transferred from Georgia halfway through his college career, so my question would be 'why'? Was the SEC too much of a challenge for him so he decided to try the Big 10 instead? Being a Nebraska fan I can tell you the Big Ten isn't the once football powerhouse it once was. For me if the top QBs are gone by the time Chicago drafts at 20 then go with what's needed in OLineman or BPA. I think there are still enough lower caliber QBs to consider in the lower rounds. Brady was selected 6th, Russel Wilson in the 3rd and Drew Brees in the 2nd so we don't have to keep pinning our hopes on 1st round talent for a decent QB.
  13. And did it again last year try and kick start Trubisky by bringing in Foles.
  14. Not a negative on Darnold at all. More a question for a new regime coming in with a (more or less) proven vet QB still available to have your #2 'can't miss future Franchise QB draftee" follow before being thrown to the wolves. At least Pace had the where-with-all to have Glennon available as an "experienced" veteran QB when he went all in on his 2nd round "cant miss future Franchise QB draftee".
  15. Freudian slip? Lol. I was curious why the current staff would abandon Darnold without really evaluating him. New HC Saleh is the former DC for San Fran and his new OC is Mike LeFleur (younger brother of Packers HC Matt). Mike was quoted as saying with regards to a successful offense; “it all starts with the running game which opens up passing.” With Darnold’s departure that leaves James Morgan and Mike White in the QB room (who?). So having Darnold, the only one who probably has any actual game time, leave when you know they’re going to draft a QB in the top 5 rounds makes it that much more confounding.
  16. Yup. ‘For different reasons it didn’t work out for Trubiksy.’ ~ Nagy https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/04/02/matt-nagy-for-different-reasons-it-didnt-work-out-with-mitchell-trubisky/
  17. Haven't we heard this song and dance before? At one time Glennon was the starting QB until he wasn't. And Pace promised to draft QB's every year...and hasn't. What he says doesn't have a lot of credence to it. I am concerned to hear Nagy will be back to play-calling. Especially since we were led to believe part of why they got Dalton was his familiarity with Lazor.
  18. That would be awesome! Was in one of the hotel casino/bar areas a few years back that had a huge group of Chicago-ites there. Saw me in my Bears stuff and started talking shop. Of course was at a Rockies game at Coors field two years ago with my bears hat on and not only did I have people say ‘Da Bears to me over and again, had some even take pics with me. Daughter was amazed how many Bears fans there are in the world.
  19. Already planning my next Vegas trip!
  20. I see you already had Coward as a loss here but just saw the story about how and where he went. Funny back story. (PS: he signed a THREE YEAR DEAL?!?!). https://www.bleachernation.com/bears/2021/03/29/rashaad-coward-going-to-the-steelers-was-apparently-scooped-by-a-redditor-playing-call-of-duty/
  21. Is Gipson gone or you counting all FAs as ‘losses’?
