Meanwhile, recent one-on-ones with Miami got a bit testy. TE Adam Shaheen (yes THAT guy) made a stink about getting beat by Kahlil Mack and well…Khalil responded.
-
Agreed, and hoping to continue not being political…he would’ve not opted out if given the option like he was. Either way, the loss of playing time last year and this current situation is concerning.
-
Presumably he would’ve been vaccinated last year when he opted out. His rationale at the time, protecting his family. I read somewhere he has asthma which could be an issue with COVID.
-
See that the Bears are trying out ‘troubled’ player PJ Hall (formerly of the Raiders). Beginning to wonder if there’s an issue with Goldman? After being out all of last season and just getting back this year before getting hit with COVID I’m getting an uneasy feeling about his NFL future. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2021/08/bears-host-dt-p-j-hall And since I’m being pessimistic, I’m not sold on Jackson being 100% either although he’s back after being out with a ‘non-football injury (hamstring)’.

Your concerns aren't being lost in a vacuum. There are players on the team that could fill the gap; Traore, Simmons and a few slated to be Guard like Eislen or Bars who played Tackle in college. But these are not ideal solutions. I still think the team is looking for options from preseason cuts (and there will be some) or even one or two current FAs. Here's an article that speaks on the matter. https://ontapsportsnet.com/2021/08/04/state-of-chicago-bears-offensive-line-potential-reinforcements/

And then this…SOLID depth add (confirmed on other sources). Now to find a solid LT backup.

Goldman out for COVID protocol. Here’s to a quick recovery.
-
Somewhat related but could figure into future plans, Colts starting Left OG Quentin Nelson reported to have similar injury as Wentz and will have similar procedure. And Chris Mortenson is a bit more optimistic about Wentz’ return and less about the Colts needing another QB.
-
Are there any concerns for Foles' contract? Still valued in the $5-6 Million range(?) Would Indy have to take that on and would they be willing after paying a pretty penny for Wentz? I saw some rumblings about Trubisky being discussed for Indy too. Although I think that's really unlikely...but intriguing.

I’m personally excited about this. He seems like a diamond in the rough to me. Only downside I saw is his size, or lack thereof. Of course Tim Jennings wasn’t all that big and he did pretty good for the Bears.

Some more vid of training camp. See that Dazz Newsome is back; that’s a good thing. And Robert Quinn congratulating his sister who won Gold in the 100 meter hurdles while at the Olympics. Good vibes all around.
-
Hindsight being what it is, me too! Could you imagine where we'd all be had it turned out differently? Have to say I'm much happier with Fields and Dalton.
-
Been hearing good things from camp about Dalton. Some are saying his ‘veteran’ status is showing. But they’re also saying as the days progress so does Fields. This video shows some good and one ‘bad’ caused by Dalton (oops). Also good to see Quinn out there twisting and turning despite his back bothering him.

Rodgers insisted on getting Randall Cobb back on the team as part of his ‘make nice’ with the Packers. So… https://www.profootballnetwork.com/randall-cobb-traded-to-packers-reunited-with-aaron-rodgers/

Some more on this. Jackson has a hamstring issue. Jenkins ‘back tightness’. And Robert Quinn…back issues (again). Ugh…
-
Looks like Jackson was “injured” while not on the job. Ifedi has a hip flexor issue - which could translate into a long term problem. And Newsome broke his collar bone back during the rookie training camp(?) and must not be back to fill form yet. Cohen is ‘slow healing’ from his torn ACL he got at the beginning of last season. Think that one surprised many here when it was announced a few weeks ago. There are smarter ones here that can address these in more detail but here’s where I got some of the updates. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2021/07/28/chicago-bears-news-eddie-jackson-nfi-germain-ifedi-pup-training-camp/

And now he’s retired. That was quick. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2021/07/28/chicago-bears-tight-end-jake-butt-retires/

They may be waiting to see what shakes loose once the camps start whittling down their numbers. I still think they need one more body for ILB.
-
In related news, with the loss of Miller we gain Falcon castaway WR Justin Hardy. More a camp body and someone to look at for ST than anything I suppose.
-
He’s got a lot of miles on him “played every game since 2016 season”. Although he’s not played as long as Graham ha played. That’s good I suppose. He’s reliable and watching him makes me think of the current version of Jason Witten.
