Did Parker Bear already start making calls about his 2x QB draft this year idea? LOL. I'm on board with this too. Addresses a lot of need without jeopardizing the future.

Draft’mas Eve - will GM Pace finally deliver a QB?

Oohhh.... Travis Etienne that late in the draft would be spectacular! Again, for the Bears not an immediate need (IMHO) but would an absolute steal that late in the game. -

So picking two Qbs this year would make up for the Qbs he didn't pick in previous years right? And it was actually ParkerBears' mock draft. He is the true architect of the idea. -

I’m with Jason. At first I thought ‘drafting two QBs’?!?! What is he crazy? But then I thought not a bad idea at all. Your explanation of how Washington did it a few years ago was spot on. Amd really the team isn’t in desperate need anywhere else (assuming as you did by addressing the oline positions earlier). Like you said, the worst that’s going to happen is one won’t pan out. But if both do, draft capital before that 5th year. Nice! You better be calling Pace right now with your idea! ?? -
It’s stuff like this that made him Chicago’s nomination for ‘Man of the Year’ last year. https://fb.watch/5aDjR5FdJh/

Funny. I just heard Mike Greenberg suggest this yesterday on his show.

Out of curiosity, what would you look for in a great QB coming out of college these days? Hell, truth be told the "Tuna" hasn't been doing much football anything in a quite awhile. Parcells' metrics are more just a tool of entertainment but does provide some good basic measurables: Be a three year starter Be a senior and graduate college Start 30 games (with a successful record of sacks, interceptions, pass completions etc) You could apply these to just about any positional player and find yourself a good solid prospect.
-
No, for the simple fact its more than likely for one of the 'lower-tier' 1st round QB prospects. IMHO there is equal talent available in later draft positions. And besides, we've already been down this road.
-
Generally speaking, the Parcells' theory is applied to potential 1st (or early round) talent. Of course we know how reliable the pundits like Mel Kiper are in predicting success for all his picks (he can't). Nevertheless we and the rest of those who watch the NFL listen to what he (and others like him) say. That being said, for whatever reason both Book and Ehlinger aren't considered 1st or even 2nd round talent at their position. So the Parcell's theory hasn't really been applied to them. But you're right they check many of the boxes. One commonality between them seems to be questionable arm strength. Without watching much tape on either I'd have to guess a lot of their passing yardage credit was made on short and intermediate throws with some good YACs thrown in. That would also attest to their having a higher completion percentage. With Ehlinger (and to some degree Book) I've heard his tendency for indecisiveness comes into play too (saw one commentator say Ehlinger reminded him a lot of Trubisky). Still considering a player like Lance above both these guys, wwho are from more reputable and (personally speaking) stronger football schools, makes it that much more difficult to comprehend.

God I hope not. The only part of this I like is seeing Miller leave.

Lance is the one that confounds me the most on this list. I don’t get where all the love is coming from. For the most part I think some have fallen in love with the idea that a former #1 came from there in Wentz but we all see how that’s turning out so far. And to see Lance only had 18 starts? That means he only had 5 more starts than Mitch. No thanks.

I appreciate the Parcells' measurement criteria and think there is something to be said about it applied to how successful they will be in the NFL. I shared the below link in another thread and if you apply the Parcells' rules, only Lawrence and Mond were able to get 6/7 of the measurables. If you apply his technique to last years' class you'll see Herbert and Hurts scored 7/7 and Burrow, Love and Fromm all scored 5/7. Many say Herbert played well in SD and Hurts is still working on how well he could play in Philly. If you look at the fact he succeeded in both Alabama and Oklahoma, you'd really not need more to know his ceiling is pretty high. Allen is truly an enigma in that a pretty low number of games and still had a low completion rate. I'm guessing they had a really good running game of which he contributed. Of the second list of players you show, only Lawrence and Mond had 40 or more games. By itself that speaks to experience something we know Trubisky did not have and still was drafted #2 overall. Last year I was hoping the Bears would have drafted Hurts. He was available in the later rounds which is where I think they can find a player like Mond this year. If they need to sit him that's fine as I'm not convinced Dalton will be horrible. He'll be good enough to win a handful of games and keep the team above .500. IF they were to make the playoffs is where I'd start getting concerned about his performance. https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2021-nfl-draft-qb-class-bill-parcells-rules

I REALLY like any draft board that involves Mond! Most of the other picks all seem pretty solid. Still not sure about Meinerz. I’m guessing you see him as a depth player since both Whitehair and Mustipher already cover the position as needed? And Daniels could too in emergencies.

At first I was concerned for you. All the best to him. That is a challenge for sure!

Epilepsy in today's world isn't nearly as debilitating as it once was. I think like with most anything meds and close oversight it can be managed within reason. I'd equate it to learning about Cutler having diabetes a couple years into his career. He was able to successfully manage his performance even though diabetes can be a real bitch if not managed properly. I agree that its commendable of Fields to come forward about it, especially this close to the draft. But it speaks more to his character that he's willing to do that knowing it could affect his draft value. And to me that's a pretty cool thing. Props to him.

Valid. Having brought in Jones does make you wonder if for nothing else he's a depth player. And with Trevathan getting older and is slow anyhow, maybe that's why they brought him in. However a couple 'what if's could be applied to Smith. He was hurt twice(?) last year and lost some playing time because of it. They brought in former first round pick Teo as his back up which didn't pan out (as since he's been released). The other scenario that I recently considered; wasn't he part of the trade package that the Bears were looking at using for acquiring QB Wilson when they were negotiating with Seattle? Still have to think that he could be a consideration for trade value if the team sees the need whatever the case. So maybe they need an ILB for other reasons than just backing up Danny?

No. Not with this GM.

Saw this today from a not-so reliable source. I suppose on the surface it makes sense. Brown wants out of Baltimore but at 24 and having been in the last two Pro Bowls can’t see the Bears really being in play. But Miller was mentioned as a trading piece so maybe? https://heavy.com/sports/chicago-bears/anthony-miller-orlando-brown-trade-rumors/

But they re-signed Ifedi. A former 1st rounder himself. ?

QB prospects always intrigue me and I've seen this name pop up time and again for Chicago across various draft boards. He's an interesting candidate for us especially if he can be had in the 3rd round. Coming out of HS he was the #2 QB prospect behind Tua. He pretty much was the starter for Texas A&M (an SEC school mind you) all four years there compiling a 33-16 record to include three bowl wins. (A hell of a lot better than our last "Franchise QB prospect"). Watching film on him shows some issues with pre-snap reads and consistency on completions (and he has a bit of an awkward stance). The longer he's played he's worked more on his pocket presence and has mobility if he needs to use it. In using the Bill Parcells model of a potentially successful NFL QB he meets 6 of the 7 criteria. He and Trevor Lawrence were the only two who reached this mark. I'd say if the Bears can get him, they should. https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2021-nfl-draft-qb-class-bill-parcells-rules

No to ANY trade up scenario for QB. As I posted elsewhere, if Kellen Mond is still there in the 2nd round, take him.
-
1- Oline (Tackle) it pains me to agree with you on this. Lol 2 - QB 3 - Safety (if they don’t get Gipson back) 4 - WR 5 - ILB or Dline

I’m with Jason.
