  1. All of this is absolutely hilarious!
  2. “I’ll have what (s)he’s having.” (When Harry met Sally - but with a twist).
  3. Yeah agreed. He did come on late in the year and although he isn't nearly as fast as Smith is nor as he once was I see him as an equal player to Jones. There isn't much in the way of depth on the team and they didn't really address it in the draft so I suspect they are relatively comfortable with who's there.
  4. Jacksonville wasn't one of them apparently? I'm still trying to wonder why Meyer may have passed on Fields. Surely Lawrence isn't that spectacular he didn't at least consider it? You'd assume he (Meyer) is going to want to install a type of offense he ran when last coaching in Ohio State so why not put a QB in place that already knows it? The current HC at Ohio State was Meyer's OC/QB coach so I'm assuming the offense didn't change all that much. Don't get me wrong, I have a strong feeling that the Bears did a lot better with this pick then a lot of people are giving them credit for. I'd even go as far to say that between he and Lawrence, he'll be the one with the better overall NFL career.
  5. He must be busy. This is certainly a huge day for him. LOL
  6. Saw a photo of him and thought he was a WR. Then watched some highlights. He’s another Leonard Floyd but faster. As much as Floyd didn’t perform as a 1st round should have, his speed was what helped Mack succeed. I see Snowden potentially being that guy too.
  7. “Priapism”...if you know what that word is you’re not a true Bears fan. I admit I had to look it up. Dear lord. The more I read and learn about Fields the more I like. Although he only meets 2 of the 7 “archaic” Bill Parcells’ metrics I attribute that to him transferring from Georgia and coming out for the draft as a Junior. The completion and TD/INT ratios are the two he scored on and that’s pretty encouraging. In the three years of eligibility, he made three playoff seasons, starting in two of them. That’s pretty good. A lot damn better than our last “Franchise” candidate. I see that Minnesota drafted Kellen Mond in the 3rd. With what I expect are the dwindling days of Rodgers in GB I predict the future QB battles in the NFC North will be between Chicago and Minnesota .
  8. Wouldn’t Bars be figured into this formula somehow? When both he and Mustipher showed up late last year, the interior line improved ten-fold. Any of the interior guys able to move out to OT?
  9. I don’t suppose Atlanta would be willing to trade Miller for Julio Jones? Straight up? ? (I’ll see myself out).
  10. There's a strange tie between NE and SF, that being Jimmy G. If memory serves Bill B. was 'forced' to trade him some years ago and wanted him to go to what he thought was a good team in SF. Then there were the recent rumors that Coach B wanted Jimmy G back. As we know now, Shanahan chose to go with Lance (with Jones still on the board) and Bill jumped at the opportunity to get Jones when he did. Speaking of, when was the last time NE selected a QB in the first round? After the dust settles Jimmy G is no longer the prize we all thought he once was and NE and SF both have future QBs that couldn't be more different from one another.
  11. I wasn’t a fan of Trubiskys and not feeling warm and fuzzy about Fields either. But that’s based on very little ‘film’ I’ve seen and not really thinking the Bears would be in position to get him. FWIW I hope you’re right this time. I understand he and Urban Meyer didn’t work together a lot but was Lawrence that much better than Fields that he (Meyer) had to pass on him? The current Ohio State HC (Day) was the OC and QB coach under Meyer. And the same team that produced Haskins 2 years ago. (yes I understand that I sound like a little black rain cloud - just sayin). The positive of this right now is that Pace didn’t wager a ridiculous amount of the future in the pick.
  12. Did Parker Bear already start making calls about his 2x QB draft this year idea? LOL. I'm on board with this too. Addresses a lot of need without jeopardizing the future.
  13. Oohhh.... Travis Etienne that late in the draft would be spectacular! Again, for the Bears not an immediate need (IMHO) but would an absolute steal that late in the game.
  14. So picking two Qbs this year would make up for the Qbs he didn't pick in previous years right? And it was actually ParkerBears' mock draft. He is the true architect of the idea.
  15. I’m with Jason. At first I thought ‘drafting two QBs’?!?! What is he crazy? But then I thought not a bad idea at all. Your explanation of how Washington did it a few years ago was spot on. Amd really the team isn’t in desperate need anywhere else (assuming as you did by addressing the oline positions earlier). Like you said, the worst that’s going to happen is one won’t pan out. But if both do, draft capital before that 5th year. Nice! You better be calling Pace right now with your idea! ??
  16. It’s stuff like this that made him Chicago’s nomination for ‘Man of the Year’ last year. https://fb.watch/5aDjR5FdJh/
  17. Funny. I just heard Mike Greenberg suggest this yesterday on his show.
  18. Out of curiosity, what would you look for in a great QB coming out of college these days? Hell, truth be told the "Tuna" hasn't been doing much football anything in a quite awhile. Parcells' metrics are more just a tool of entertainment but does provide some good basic measurables: Be a three year starter Be a senior and graduate college Start 30 games (with a successful record of sacks, interceptions, pass completions etc) You could apply these to just about any positional player and find yourself a good solid prospect.
  19. No, for the simple fact its more than likely for one of the 'lower-tier' 1st round QB prospects. IMHO there is equal talent available in later draft positions. And besides, we've already been down this road.
  20. Generally speaking, the Parcells' theory is applied to potential 1st (or early round) talent. Of course we know how reliable the pundits like Mel Kiper are in predicting success for all his picks (he can't). Nevertheless we and the rest of those who watch the NFL listen to what he (and others like him) say. That being said, for whatever reason both Book and Ehlinger aren't considered 1st or even 2nd round talent at their position. So the Parcell's theory hasn't really been applied to them. But you're right they check many of the boxes. One commonality between them seems to be questionable arm strength. Without watching much tape on either I'd have to guess a lot of their passing yardage credit was made on short and intermediate throws with some good YACs thrown in. That would also attest to their having a higher completion percentage. With Ehlinger (and to some degree Book) I've heard his tendency for indecisiveness comes into play too (saw one commentator say Ehlinger reminded him a lot of Trubisky). Still considering a player like Lance above both these guys, wwho are from more reputable and (personally speaking) stronger football schools, makes it that much more difficult to comprehend.
  21. God I hope not. The only part of this I like is seeing Miller leave.
  22. Lance is the one that confounds me the most on this list. I don’t get where all the love is coming from. For the most part I think some have fallen in love with the idea that a former #1 came from there in Wentz but we all see how that’s turning out so far. And to see Lance only had 18 starts? That means he only had 5 more starts than Mitch. No thanks.
  23. I appreciate the Parcells' measurement criteria and think there is something to be said about it applied to how successful they will be in the NFL. I shared the below link in another thread and if you apply the Parcells' rules, only Lawrence and Mond were able to get 6/7 of the measurables. If you apply his technique to last years' class you'll see Herbert and Hurts scored 7/7 and Burrow, Love and Fromm all scored 5/7. Many say Herbert played well in SD and Hurts is still working on how well he could play in Philly. If you look at the fact he succeeded in both Alabama and Oklahoma, you'd really not need more to know his ceiling is pretty high. Allen is truly an enigma in that a pretty low number of games and still had a low completion rate. I'm guessing they had a really good running game of which he contributed. Of the second list of players you show, only Lawrence and Mond had 40 or more games. By itself that speaks to experience something we know Trubisky did not have and still was drafted #2 overall. Last year I was hoping the Bears would have drafted Hurts. He was available in the later rounds which is where I think they can find a player like Mond this year. If they need to sit him that's fine as I'm not convinced Dalton will be horrible. He'll be good enough to win a handful of games and keep the team above .500. IF they were to make the playoffs is where I'd start getting concerned about his performance. https://thedraftnetwork.com/articles/2021-nfl-draft-qb-class-bill-parcells-rules
