If they answered legit ? then someone would end up being accountable. As things stand, it is just space filler.
  2. I grew up watching Butkus. He is IT for a middle linebacker. Total competitor, 100% every time and he hit like it was his life on the line. He bit an official's finger once when there was a pile for a fumble. To tell you the truth, and I know this is going to make some folks mad, Url always seemed lackadaisical to me. I remember on press day before his only Superbowl appearance he said something about if they didnt win it was no big deal. I just never felt he had the same passion for the game as Butkus or Singletary. Seems to be the way players are today. But Url was still one of the best, I just would put him after Butkus, Singletary.
  3. That's a definite possibility! I expect the coaches are going to take a long look at each option to improve our dismal line.
  4. Sheesh! Carimi will never get labeled "nasty." And we need some nasty on the OL. Dump his butt and give someone with some fire a shot to make the team.
  5. Thank you. I just got started early. D was always the focus when I watched. Now, with Trestman, let's see what the O can add to our storied past.
  6. How about Ed O, Richie Pettibone, Willie Galimore and Billy Wade. My neighbor here in Chile went to school with Rick Caseares in Ill! I'm 60 and began in 1962 as an NFL/Bears fan. Then Sayers and Butkus made it no. 1!
  7. Gonna be interesting to see the camp competition. And who they add via UDFAs. I do like Emery's approach to fixing our holes, breeding competition and getting youth at key positions.
  8. No doubt now, Trestman did not like what he inherited on the Oline. Competition should be fierce.
  9. Agreed. we now have an O-minded regime.Wow, this is going to be very different for Beardom! About time we looked to bring the Oline up to snuff.
  10. Good to see he looks for improvement up front from guys "with experience." Now to endure the long offseason till we see what they are like.
  11. I won't be surprised if Emery brings in a few more. The additions all seem solid. Glad McCown was signed. I like Emery's direction.
  12. Slauson pickup helps your scenario, no?
  13. Good pickup. And Emery is really using one year contracts.
  14. From what he has shown so far, I don't think Carimi will ever be a LT, and maybe not a RT with us. Bushrod was signed to be the LT, so now we need to find the RT and the Gs for the line.
  15. Orton just reworked his contract with the Cowboys.
  16. I'll second that! Campbell sucks. Is McCown under contract? Or was his contract for one year?
  17. I do see your point. Still, i do believe that $ is the final decider. Also, who has "Urlacher's word held persuasive weight." with? Are we after someone that Url has counseled to go elsewhere?
  18. Agree that LBs, particularly this off season, are available. A top flight MLB would obviously be a boon, but you're right about DL and also with a solid DB corp we should be fine.
  19. Agree on Scott signing because his options are limited. But what "all-stars searching for a new team" are we now looking at? And I have don't think that "word" from Url or anyone else makes one bit of difference. $ is the key. If we got the $ they will come.
  20. Watched them since Ed O, Billy Wade and the 1963 championship. And yes, I'm a Bear pessimist. But I do think that Url is not what he used to be. Did I want him back? Hell yes. But, as Ditka said, this too shall pass.
  21. Now let's see Emery get us 2 starting LBs. Roach was adequate, but I can see him going for the $ if someone offered.

    Backup QB?

Keep McCown and let Trestman develop a young QB. Campbell was pathetic last year.
