  1. i almost choked on my dinner after reading that first post - that is histerical!!!! bears fans better pray for a new cba
  2. jason is right. maybe it's a blessing? we have more needs than picks, and we've already seen how low priority FS has been, so maybe after other holes are filled we think about it? da Bears never draft elite players though, so what does it matter...
  3. it has been quite some time between posts for me, but I can feel the frustration on this board. being a bears fan is not easy, esp considering our genius GM invested a lot of money in declining players. this defense was great in 05 and 06, but i remember thinking then that the time they spent on the field those seasons due to an inept offense was going to shorten their careers. now none of them have trade value (whoever thinks AZ is giving up Boldin for a couple picks + one of our past-their-prime has-beens is crazy) and we're saddled with their salaries. JA is not going to set the bar in FA for anyone, be it TJ (WR), Gross (OT), Peppers or Suggs (DE), or Haynesworth (DT), so these dream signings are in a sense a Madden fantasy, b/c we will only see them if we are playing GM with fake $$$
  4. I hate to chime in after negatively after being away for so long, but I must say that neither Suggs nor Collins would excel here. Suggs is a 3-4 OLB. With our O-line, Collins plays like, well, Collins. Gross would be great except every other team agrees, and da Bears will not get into a bidding war for anyone. Like Hub said on 670 this morning, this regime has ZERO pressure on it, so it will continue to draft "athletes" over football players and we will continue to be embarrassed by flops like D. Manning... I like Taylor Mays, too (maybe Bears fans get to see what a FREE safety looks like?), but I doubt we get a shot at him. If there's anything I know about this league, it's that there are fewer elite FS prospects coming out of college than any other position other than QB. I don't think it's coincidence, b/c not only does a FS need to have instincts and work ethic, but also great athletism. But if he's there, I'd take him over Crabtree.
  5. Rhodes resigned with the Colts... Word is Jones looked great in workouts for the Bengals and Patriots. Apparently one of the drills he does is running and cutting on an incline (treadmill? not sure), and he was fluid and powerful. This comes from the guy who covers the Lions for MLive...he likes to report on players the Lions drafted that become successful, which almost always means he follows them after they leave Detroit
  6. He never cared about sacrificing himself for the better of this team and us the fans. I know many of us who didn't like the pick still got up and cheered him and found reasons to believe he could live up, but he didn't. He was a reach in a weak draft class and burned the GM that took him...that to me shows no respect for the game, the business, and the tradition. Playing for da Bears should be an honor, and he spit into the wind the minute he put on our cap...if we don't want our GM to let go, we're gonna be stuck with Rex, Orton, and Bradley for years to come...
  7. I really don't understand why everyone is getting down on the guy for wanting to get more money guaranteed. NFL contracts can be torn up by the owners at any time...the players have a right to get as much money as they can when they can. It's the media that turns this into a circus.
  8. sadly enough, I didn't get out when I had my chance...although, it is nice to be only 2 hours away from Chicago and yet still only have a 10 min. commute to work...
  9. You must be in GR? I'm in Kalamazoo...
  10. Anyone have details on the recent Bears trades? How did we lose our 6th? Also, Colt Brennan is another Rex Grossman...I don't agree with the TE pick either, cuz the guy is a bag of douche, but if he would've picked Brennan, i was going to go out and buy a Colts hat... We're rebuilding, so why not hold out for the top QB in next year's draft? Hopefully we'll have a real GM then...
  11. I will bitch about drafting a CB with bad knees in the 5th. Didn't we draft 2 CBs last year? How many do we need, really? We still have holes on the team, and we're filling our roster with DBs, again...
  12. over-valued in a weak QB class...is anyone getting sick of me saying this? Henne has the lowest completion percentage and the highest interception-to-attempt ratio of all 4 QBs... I'm a diehard Wolverine fan...and I've always loathed him. He's easily confused and forces throws under pressure. Why can't we just wait for the QB we want rather than wasting a pick on one who is going to struggle? Haven't we learned from the Grossman experiment?
  13. I wouldn't take either one of them. Why reach for something that isn't there? We have 2 safeties returning from injury, plus 2 that ended the season in the lineup, one Lovie won't let go, and another we signed late last season of someone else's practice squad. We have bodies with potential. We should use this draft to fill glaring needs on offense and look safety next year...
  14. Brohm can't read defenses and struggles under pressure. He was a preseason All-American, but without Bush to shoulder the load, he crumpled. Brohm is only getting consideration b/c he is a QB in a very weak draft class. Anyone who has watched much of him will readily admit that he's just a tall Rex with a weaker arm...
  15. what system and what's your screen name? I'm a COD4 junkie on PS3 myself...
  16. Well, Mad Lithuanian, the first step to recovery is admitting there's a problem What I'm talking about is the entire previous post appearing in your reply. You can erase it before you type your post. I'm guessing its a default feature the administrator added so we can tell which post you're replying to, but it gets cumbersome for an impatient prick like myself who likes to scroll through posts quickly when everyone's posts are twice as long now b/c they're quoting the entire post before them... Maybe I just need to crack a cold one...
  17. I would like to say 2 things: (1) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE somebody do something about the ENTIRE previous posts being quoted in replies. Obviously too many people on this site are too lazy to CLICK-DRAG-DELETE, and it keeps me from reading an entire thread. I don't know about others, but I'm this close to moving to another site because of this... (2) JA needs to get off his GD pedestal and fix this team. If he thinks that taking the "moral high road" is going to put him in the good graces, he may be right about the afterlife, but not while he's in our town. I'll eat crow if there's a master plan in the works that comes to fruition, but for now all I see is an old man shaking his cane at the youngsters blowing by him... cheers!
  18. If Tommie isn't the best player on our defense, who is? He was playing on one leg all season with nobody next to him and still outperformed the rest of our d-line. As far as the white flag, I completely agree. I'm not anywhere excited about this team now. Poor management is our curse.
  19. check your predictions...da Bears do not play in the AFC...but I guess after reading the other predictions, that is supposed to be a joke?
  20. I admire how loyal some of you are to Hass, but the reality is, he will not see the field. It seems as though he could fill a Tom Waddle niche, but if he didn't play last year, his chances are even slimmer this year. You have to wonder when these position coaches are going to become accountable for our failure to develop...
  21. Smith was out that season with a broken leg...
  22. My opportunities for listening are limited, but the best guys on the air for both stations are the youngsters: DeFalco, Silverman, and Holmes. Mully and Handley do a good show, but Bernstein is as pompous a prick as Mariotti. He tries to be funny by high-browing everyone, and whenever someone calls him out, he talks over them until listeners turn the knob. Boers is hilarious, but the content of the show rarely holds my interest long enough to hear what he has to say... I gave up on AM1000 when they split Carman and Silvy and put the triplet buddhas in the evening slot. But as far as Mariotti bashing the radios, the writers for the papers aren't exactly setting the tone. In such a great town full of activity, how can they not have something original to write?
  23. Agreed...however, it's a supply and demand market, and we can't afford to go into the draft with WR being our biggest need. If we franchise Berrian, we can make a run at a Bryant Johnson, and think WR in Rds. 2 and 3, instead of pick #14. Speaking of Moose and Plax, I remember when we signed Moose, I was begging for Plax. JA told us he preferred Moose's character and leadership. We got an old man, NY got the guy who played his best games in the NFC Championship and the SB. JA has made some good moves in FA, but that was (IMHO), his worst...
  24. Ouch! March 1st needs to hurry up and get here...bored posters with wild ideas are getting mauled here! I think Hester 3:16 is just throwing something out there. We have lots of holes to fill, and not many opportunities to do so. We simply have the painfully Chicago-esque misfortune of having several needs in a year when the free agent market is thin. Much like Mariotti's article, this site is falling victim to a dull and unexciting Chicago winter. We have little hope, and what does exist will be destroyed by our inept franchise management. What really sucks about of all of this is the reality that Jay Mariotti is the face of Chicago to the sports world. Lovie, Lach, and Hester are mumbling mutes, so we're left with the greasy weasel representing us. No wonder the BOO-YAHs have no respect for Chicago...
  25. We don't zone block...that's what the Broncos and Giants do. We run a power run scheme, which means everyone has a guy he's assigned to block, whereas zone blocking is just that: you block an area in a given direction, regardless of who is going where. We do try to pull Olin and Ruben, but neither can get to the spot quick enough...
