The for and against Fields conversation will go on until the draft but several things come into play. 1st we have to have the number 1 pick.. I think its Caleb Williams or Justin Fields. If Poles thinks Williams is the guy, he will take him. If we end up with the second or third pick that is out of the picture. Maye does not carry the clout that Williams does. Truth be told, both have been questioned about being great as we get closer to the draft. The third pick is probably the best player in the draft MHJ, if he is there, he will take him. So now the conversation, is there a QB prospect that has more upside than the upside of Fields? The draft will bring more light to that issue. Others things Poles has to think about, Fields is a hard worker, born leader, and the team is totally behind him. So not only will Poles have to sell a new QB to the fan base but also to the players in the locker room. He more so has to make a determination, if he keeps Flus or not that will add to the keep Justin or not. If Flus stays I think he is more likely to keep Fields around, if he changes he more likely bring in a new QB. This is very complicated , its not just keep or dumb Fields. I keep hearing people say because we have the top pick 2 yrs in a row, we have to take a QB. That is ridiculous. The top 4 teams in the National conference has a 7th round QB, 2nd round, 4th round and a first round that got traded because his team didnt think he was good enough. Out of the last 10 SB winning QBs only Peyton and Stafford were ist pick in the draft that won SBs and Stafford did it with his original team. The most constant traits with SB teams is a great coach and talented roster. OB matters but appears not to be the most important factor. Change my mind?

I think the key to all of these mock drafts is everyone is addressing the OL and DL, still getting MHJ and a QB prospect. I think that is exactly what will happen. Their big board always has Zak Zinter going late and no way he lasts that long. I have never had JPJ last that late either in mine.

Here is the last 11 yrs of SB QBs. I would say Flacco, Wilson, Foles, and Stafford are not elite QBs. 7 were won by all time elite QBs that had great coaches and talented rosters. Super Bowl 47: Joe Flacco (MVP), 3TDs Super Bowl 48: Russell Wilson (Malcolm Smith), 2TDs Super Bowl 49: Tom Brady (MVP), 4TDs Super Bowl 50: Peyton Manning (Von Miller), 0TDs Super Bowl 51: Tom Brady (MVP), 2TDs Super Bowl 52: Nick Foles (MVP), 3 TDs Super Bowl 53: Tom Brady (Julian Edelman), 0TDs Super Bowl 54: Patrick Mahomes (MVP), 2 TDs Super Bowl 55: Tom Brady (MVP), 3 TDs Super Bowl 56: Matthew Stafford (Cooper Kupp), 3 TDs Super Bowl 57: Patrick Mahomes (MVP), 3 TDs

You always do a lot of work with stats, I have to let you know I appreciate the effort. That's not a simple task.

With all the good and bad, 8 wins would be a big improvement. More over many players are developing in front of our eyes. 2024 will have expectations of a run at the playoffs.

Mooney is a big disappointment but , if Fields stays , I tink think he may come back on a cheap deal. We can't ignore his 1000 yards season like he's not capable of being a good WR. He has a history with Fields. Was it you that brought up his injury? It definitely is either still a problem or made him worse.

More reason to try to get MHJ. If you add him the rest of the room doesnt matter. DJ, MHJ, Scott, fill in the blanks.

We just need to win out and let the dominos fall where they may. Playoffs were never an expectation before the season started

Anyone listening to Dave Wannstedt on the SCORE this morning. He was very funny. Haugh was trying to stress the point that you cant go 2 yrs in a row with the #1 pick and not draft a QB. Dave's respond was no one wins a SB by winning the press conference.

So many aspects go into being an elite QB in this league. Just look at all them drafted since Mahomes came into the league only a handful are considered elite. He has shown flashes but attitude matters. He was a #1 pick in the draft, be careful what you wish for. Williams numbers are great but his intangibles are questionable. Every move Poles makes has risk, I trust him to make the best move for the future of the Bears.
-
I will grant you everything you stated but do you honestly think a rookie QB is going to respond more consistently? Would a rookie QB get us up 28-14? Fields had good and bad plays in both of those games. He is not an elite QB, I dont think anyone has said that but to assume a rookie QB will automatically be better is misguided. Poles needs to keep building the team, try and find a better QB and align whatever it takes to win games. Play calling also failed in prime situations , its just not one reason for failure. Parker has said it best in another thread about the best approach to the future, sometimes stepping back from the reality of the season gives you a better perspective.

We will draft a QB just don't think it's at one . Keeping both Fields and a new QB makes the most sense. If Poles thinks Williams or Maye are elite, he will take them. Just haven't a clue how he grades them. He won't get caught up in hype, his job depends on it.
-
Hopefully we still get the top pick. We were lucky last year but it's out of our hands. People are playing for their jobs, effort will be there and playing at home matters. Fans may want a tank but the team won't be doing that. You establish a winning culture by winning, losing sucks.

Draft machines aren't very realistic but are fun. Daniels is going to be a top 10 pick. At least three are going high, it could be more, just not sure of what GMs actually think. If Poles trades back, I can see 6 or 7 top 100 players but 10 would be outstanding.
-
We easily could lose these games or win them. It seems to always have a handful of plays that change a game. Murray was a high draft pick that was supposed to be great but never really got there consistently. Blame it on injuries, but no one considers him elite. QBs drafted high fail more than they become elite. Something to think about in taking a QB at one. We should win this game. Cleveland was a winnable game but defense matters. Rarely does anyone look good against them. AZ isn't special but still could keep it close.

Well thought out post, can't disagree with anything you said. I think there is one misconception about Warren , people think he was hired to come in and take over complete control. He was hired to work on the stadium and he stated he wanted to get more involved in day to day operation. If you look at his bio , he has no experience in personal or day to day stuff. He was a lawyer that worked in a different area of the business. I think he gets more involved in those areas but that is a slow process. Nothing done with the stadium yet, he has is hands full.

I have a girlfriend in Thailand that just turned 43. Nice try
-
That is exactly the point Im making, mentioning spending winters in Thailand has nothing to do with this conversation but your brain is spinning out of control . The fact you actually think your bullshit bothers me is funny.
-
Your the big scary boogie man that flips out or stupid shit. The more you press that your mr innocent the more I am going to rattle your cage. So actually do something you say once and just stop .
-
Nice try is not a personal comment, but this is, you are psycho .
-
You try to make a case on something that isnt true and that's being personal? you have no problem pointing things out and making worse comments . If NICE TRY is threating and personal to you , i am at a loss for words.
