I read where Hunter had a neck (pectoral) injury. Its not his knees and makes 24 mil the next two yrs. If Minny wants to tank, trading him in the division would help with that plus Kevin Warren came from Minnesota. This might be a possible situation. Last yr he only played 7 games but had 14 sacks the two previous years. Lets get it done. Offer them the 4th we got from Phil.

For us to be very successful, we need to break some of those passing records.

A few weeks ago Flus had an interview where he was asked about an edge rusher addition. He said that we needed one and it would be sooner than later. Since we dont have one signed at this time that tells me he was after one of the ones that has already signed. Probably Floyd since he was the most complete edge available. Couldnt get the job done being he said he wanted to play for a contender. Buffalo. I think his plan A is gone so what is his plan B? Maybe that player isnt available yet. Ngakoue wants to play for a contender to, so I dont think he comes here unless Poles throws him some money or long term contract of which Poles has showed he's not doing that unless he believes he is a core player.

Dane Brugler looked back at his preseason football prospect ranking in 2023. We had 4 in the top 50 and Wright wasnt on it. 22 Noah Sewell 29 Gervin Dexter 41 Zach Pickens 45 Tyrique Stevenson I find this interesting and it shows you how things change from one season to the next.

We agree on who will be the worse teams. Lions might be better, but hard to always assume a team with an average QB takes bigger steps. It's going to come down to the QB and I knows ours has the higher ceiling.

We'll find out how good their coaches are this year with losing some blue chip players. I think they could be bottom dwelling . Hard to say what GB has but us and Detroit are going to have winning records. Bears- 12-5 Detroit-10-7 GB- ---7-10 Minny-6-11.

Monty is making 6 mil this year. Foreman, Herbert, Johnson and Homer are making 6 mil this year. Cudos to Poles.

He is a football player. Worked hard, played hard got a descent contract. Hope he does well but not when we play Detroit. Unfortunately his bloom is off the rose and will end up in a secondary role. I'm calling as least 2 of our RBs will have more yds this year than Monty. If we win the division I will be happy to tweet him that he picked the wrong winning team. He should have trusted Justin.
-
That is probably the real reason for getting rid of expensive contracts, good call.
-
I'm not sure they are tanking though and plan on winning 7-8 games. I think they are trying to update the roster and focus more on a passing game. They're not winning anything soon, so might as well transform the team.

I always liked Greg Gabriel, he never worried about being politically correct with his opinions, said it like it is whether you agree with him or not.
-
I agree, he made a bad decision.

The problem for RBs is the more mileage on their body the more they are wore out in latter years. Adrian Peterson seemed to be the exception. Derrick Henry is 29 now and his mileage should start catching up to him. In the last 4 years he's had 60% of the snaps or better. 2019 he only played 8 games because of injury. Rarely do RBs at 29 and over have seasons without injuries. Foreman is 27 but last year he seen his most carries at 34% of the snaps. He still has a lot of mileage. Our RB room has all hungry players that want to prove themselves, should be fun to watch.

I think its similar to the way they used Williams last year. Red zone carries, because Swift was hurt a lot , Williams got way more carries than expected. I suspect 8-10 carries for Monty and 15-20 for Gibbs. I think last year was normality , passing so much because of being behind. They want to be more of a running team if their defense can keep them in games.

If you look at the best OCs in the NFL they are mostly older players 28 and up. Lindenbaum and Ragnow are the two exceptions. Cody has two yrs left with high dead cap, so if he plays well, he will be the OC for the next two years.

Ourlad's has the Bears depth chart (projection) listing Borom-Leatherwood-Robert Haskins as backups at RT. LT is Kellen Diesch-Josh Luggs-Roy Mbaeteka as backups. Like you the backup OTs for both spots concern me. A vet that can play both would be best but LT would be the biggest concern. Training camp will show us if the backups have anything.

I think I read somewhere where both Jenkins and Davis were rated (PFF) in the top 10 of guards last year. Don't buy into PFF completely but it is one way to measure players. I remember one year where Adrian Amos was rated the top safety. Very good but wasn't the best.
-
Upgrading the talent makes for more competition. That's a good thing.
-
PFF came out with their preseason positional ranking and had Cody Whitehair as the 11th best OC. I dont put a lot of stock in all of PFF data but when it sounds good, I'll pop it.

For us to be a winning team this year there are a lot of questions that have to be answered yes. These statements are true: He improved the Oline He improved the WR room He improved the RB room He improved the TE room He improved the DB group He improved the LB group He improved the DT group He improved the edge position ( maybe a small step but still improved it) With all this improvements, still the single most important thing that will make us a winning team is for Justin Fields to take a step forward. It remains to be seen if small steps were taken or if giant steps move us forward. I think Poles is given us a giant step in the right direction and Fields will take us there. AM I DRINKING TO MUCH KOOLAID OR ARE THESE STATEMENTS ABOVE ARE TRUE?

When I was in Thailand I listened on Audacy . The cool thing with Audacy is you can go back and play segments with descriptions of what was talked about. You can go back 24 hours. Pick and choose what you want to hear. When home it comes in perfect being in the Rockford area.

To be honest his attitude surprises me. I think he expected a bigger pay check and took Lions offer instead to spit the Bears. I think the bears offer was similar but expected more. The Lions have a good upside but drafted a starter in the first round. Monty will get the start but will be a backup by years end. The Bears win total will surpass the Lions because of the upside of Fields. He made a bad decision but was lucky for us because our RB room is better.

When I'm not watching real football, I watch highlights that create endorphins in my body. Until reality hits, I may be let down, but nothing like hope for an uplifting mood better place to be than predicting 6-11.

I was looking at the new people we added on the DL and noticed, compared to other DTs in the league, Justin Jones actually did not play that bad. 52 Ts, 3 sacks, 4 PDs, 1 FR.,12 TFL, 7 QB hits. Played 67% of snaps. With better support players on the DL, his stats may improve.
