Bears To Indiana? If They Go, Eat $h!t and CHOKE On it
Stinger226 replied to Lucky Luciano's topic in Bearstalk
Can someone direct me to the actual offer Indiana is proposing for the bears. I'm not jumping to conclusions on what that is until I see it. What the bears are asking Illinois is to improve the infrastructure around the stadium and give them a break on the insane tax bill proposed. Arlington racetrack was paying 20 million a year in taxes. The bears tore the structure down and they were told that had to pay 200 mil a year on raw land. They asked for it to stay the same until the structure was complete and then for a fair assessment. With the added revenue that will be brought in, it more than justfly the bonds that would be put out to pay for the infrastructure. The reduction in the tax bill is future income for the state and not taken money from their coffers. The Arlington project would already be underway if the government didn't try to make a cash cow on raw land while under construction. The bears then decided to leverage a better deal by looking at Indiana. Pro Football is a business and the bears are acting like a business. I'm going to still be a bear's fan where ever it ends up. -
I heard Greg Gabriel say that George has already called the NFL administration about this matter. Not sure where he got that but he's worked in those offices before. He must have some connections.

I seen this many times but this is the first I noticed Grady Jarrett saying " oh my God,oh my God, what the fu** was that". https://www.facebook.com/share/r/183DjgFhR9/

My hope is McDonald and another DT, a DE, S and LT. Who we add in FAgency will alter where we pick those players. There is usually LBers and Ss that can be found in FAgency. Edwards, Byard came here that way. Draft DL and OL.

The only reason you would trade Bagent is because of the value you would get back, plus he will be gone at the of 27 anyway. I'm more in on bringing back nearly everyone and add a a few assets but I'm just doing stupid trade talk like so many pundits are.

My dream trade is Jeffery Simmons. I would drive DJ to Tennessee if we got that trade. Tennessee has tons of Cap space but it basically would just be an even Cap hit. Why does anything think that kind of trade deal would it take? DJ, Dexter, a first this year and 3rd next year? Dexter had 6 sacks last year and they definitely need a upgrade for a young QB.

Spot on with everything you said . I still think they end up Arlington heights but totally expect the politicians to screw this up. When I find interesting is the Hammond stadium would be 15 miles from Soldier field, AH is actually farther away. No matter where they end up , they will keep the bear's name. Santa Barbara 49ers - no New Jersey Giants - no New Jersey Jets - no I understand the nostalgia of bears being in Chicago but these are different times we live in. When the 49ers moved they only lost 1% of the fan base. -
That all sounds good. Rome and Burden still have some growing to do. In this offense, Loveland could be the best TE in the league.

Thanks for the advice.

Derrick Moore is getting some attention. He has that relentless gene in him.

I just heard someone talk about Anchorage on the radio. They said it was a beautiful place. I've traveled to 35 countries but never thought to visit Alaska. Is it worth visiting?

I am old at 73 and never remembered that history. But immaturity and lack of living in the past, my brain just reached the 20s again. I'm always looking forward but respect the past. Having had season tickets for 2 yrs, I would appreciate a new stadium, the location doesn't really matter anymore. I like modern bathrooms. (The plumber in me).

Thank you, I get lazy sometimes. That's the guy. I don't know if the Bears still have ties to him but had him around a couple of years.

History does matter. If Hallas was still alive today, he would be the first person to go where he makes more money. He was the tradition.

I understand your point, I live 90 miles northwest of Chicago, they are now going to be 35 minutes from Chicago. It's just a metropolis to me. Once I hit Huntley it's all just City driving well into Indiana. I don't go to games anymore. Maybe I would look at it differently if I still did. My TV doesn't know the location of the stadium.

We are better off having good depth at every position but it's not any different from trading good players at other positions. It's about value you could get back. To do the trade you at least need to hold out for a 2nd rounder IMO. That's an above average starter in most cases.

A lot of fans don't like this but it's not any different from living in another state and still being a bear's fan. The bears are a business and businesses are leaving Illinois in droves. A poorly run state. I get if you're a ticket holder but it's literally 39 minutes away from the Chicago center. Living 90 minutes away from Chicago, 30 minutes isn't a big deal.

Been watching a lot of tape on McDonald and he's a beast. Probably won't make it to 25. Had 65 Ts as a DT, that is amazing. Lee Hunter is rated as a mid to late 2nd round. He has good tape on him too . https://youtu.be/E-pRCcROhAI?si=jrdZmSNP9OspUfB3

No one is giving a first rounder for Bagent. I think they keep the offense intact for this year and upset the continuity as we become a top 3 offense in the league. A second rounder may sway them to change their mind though. Isn't there another young QB they bring into camp every year? He was from a small school and was a record setter in their division. I can't remember his name.

Caleb was on Maxx Crosby's podcast which leads to speculation.

All good points. Only restructure people you want more long term. I don't think they are making a big signing this off-season,more like a Cameron Jordan or Clowney. So just enough money to resign their own FAs, rookie deals, cap space and a DL on a moderate contract.

I think Tremaine Edmunds is going to get cut soon

Edwards contract doesn't allow him to leave this year but definitely we need more speed at LB. I wouldn't mind a high pick there. -
I saw someone did the math and if we restructure DJ, Sweat, and Jarrett would give us 33 mil in Cap space. Also 14 mil with Thuney and Jackson. With cutting Edmunds that gives us 62 mil in Cap space. That should give us plenty to work with. You could also give Kmet a new extension for a few years and lower his cap hit for this year. Another option is cutting or trading JJ after June 1st that would be a 9 mil Dead money and 15.5 mil in Cap. Resign Wright and move on.

You do make some good points. After 2027 someone may pay him too much for us to keep him. We can resign Keenum as our backup and get something out of him. You know I'm always positioning for players we have on the roster but this may be an opportunity. Caleb has proven to be durable so why develop a 2nd QB? If we can get a third and maybe switch draft positions in the 2nd round? Would you do it?

When you have a DL that can't get a pass rush and generates bad rush defense that will reflect on both LBers play. Agree his tackles are downfield but the scheme has a lot to do with coverage responsibility. I'm not trying to defend his worth because he has never lived up to his contract but as last year, he had 9 PDs and 4 picks playing in limited games with injuries. He has some playmaker abilities that count for something. He's going to be gone so I guess I'm trying to beat a dead horse here. Do you want a LB picked high or resign Demarco Jackson to fill his spot? We may be able to find a FA LBer to replace him but odds of us getting a TJ Edwards type of contract are slim and would have to overpay. I saw Quay Walker name dropped, a FA from GB but wonder what he would cost. Another option would be Sewell or Hyppolite. Last year neither showed anything.
