  1. I liked that , yesterday is the first time I seen this podcast. It popped up on my YouTube feed when I hit Chicago Bears. When I tried to post it, it just popped up a black screen and said video unavailable.
  2. Poles track record on free agents is up and a lot of down as far as value. Billings-Edwards-Byard were good values. Plenty of bad signings. I will say the way he does contracts that most dont have a long term affect on the Cap We wont know what Joe T-S will be until he plays for us. For better or for worst the Cap is structured to have the most money available when Caleb's contract comes up. The proper time to grade everything is at the end of this year. If we end up being a winning team then the way he structured it worked out. If not another bad mark on Poles track record.
  3. I think they will draft another LT, it comes down to the progress of Theo and what they project Ozzy as a future prospect. The key to that comment is what round. I think they could look at edge or even CB to be more important. It depends on how the season plays out.
  4. Brian Baldinger made a good point I seen on an interview. Theo is bad at pass blocking but he stays on his feel and has fight in him. I think he will improve as the season goes forward. Has looked good run blocking. I seen one play where he took a block off the field on and on the ground. reminds me on that one block in (Blindside) movie.
  5. Fun watch on the OL. Looked dominate Sunday as it should with a bad DL.
  6. Actually 5 tackles in 31 snaps is pretty good. After being signed late the Browns just havent given him any playing time. The Bears were never going to trade for a big contract edge. What they were looking for was added depth that will fill in as a rotational DE . Joe T-S best year was 40 pressures, 5 sacks, 7 TFL, & 7 QB hits and one forced fumble in 50% of the snaps. He is 26 and signed for two yrs at 4.6 mil that can be cut at any time for no dead money. As someone said, low risk, low cost. If we can get 4 or 5 sacks out of him in 9 games he will have been well worth it.
  7. Edmunds has been a good player while here but this year playing on the outside he has pro bowl stats. The reason he has gotten so much flack was because of his contract. In a NFL of cap space contracts become to much of the narrative because of players getting big contracts. More power to them for getting paid but the high paychecks are the GMs fault when it comes down to value. Flus never took advantage of his athleticism and DA knows what to do.
  8. Jeanty has not shined in his first year. I still think he will be a stud RB but he hasnt lived up to his draft spot. He has a 138 yard game and 75 yd game and over 10 carries in 7 games. 3.9 yds per carry. Monangai only has two games of over 10 carries , 81 yds and 176 yds. 5.3 yds per carry. The best rookie RBs so far is Skattabo (injured) and Judkins. Skattabo has a 3.9 yds per carry and Judkins 4.1 yds per carry. Crosby-Merritt is in the conversation with a 4.6 per carry average. Crosby-Merrill and Monangai were both 7th round draft picks. I wanted Skattabo but I cant say what a great value Monangai has been. We are fortunate to have two good RBs and BJ has it working now. Poles drafting history has been sketchy at best but this yrs draft could end up being golden. I think it takes 3 yrs to judge drafts. Loveland has the potential to be a all pro type TE. Bruden shows a lot of promise minus some nagging injury issues. Trapilo coming from a small school will take a couple of yrs to develop and I think he will end up being our LT .Wright is playing at a all pro level this year and I think they will leave him at RT. Shemar Turner was starting to stand out when the injury ended his season. (jury still out) Hyppolite has speed that kills and I think we end up being a starter after we walk away from Edmunds. Zak Fraiser is a wildcard with some mental issues.( probably a bust) Luke Newman will end up taking Joe Thuney place when we walk away from him. Monangai has shown he could be a lead back in a BJ offense. Judging a draft at 8 games in the season is way to early to have a proper perspective but IMO this draft will end up giving us 7 starters. Clearly BJ was involved in the draft and it seems his input has helped the mediocre Poles.
  9. They can bring Kpassagnon back up off the practice squad of which I thought he played well early this year but out of need they need to add another body to the mix. Otherwise Sweat-Booker-Hardy are all that is left on the 53. They have Kromah and newly acquired Garvin still on the practice squad.
  10. Some things need to be ironed out but we are establishing an identity. Pound the ball, play action and score lots of points.
  11. I think Quinn won coach of the year last year. Good coaches make bad decisions sometimes too.
  12. I dont disagree a trench player probably would have been a better choice looking at our weaknesses but that was a BJ pick and I have to let it play out . A Ersery has given up 4 sacks and 17 pressures. Also has 4 penalties so he isnt setting the world on fire at this point of in time. Josh Connerly has given up 6 sacks and 8 penalties. 28 pressures while playing RT. Josh Simmons has 1 sack and 3 penalties, 12 pressures in 318 snaps which is the only rookie we could have drafted that is playing decent. Theo has 4 penalties and one sack in 290 snaps , 10 pressures. He hasnt looked good doing it but they are similar to Simmons stats. How much better would we be if we drafted Simmons? I would say at this point its basically a tie. The 3 edge players taken after our 9th pick in the first round has 2 sack between them. None of them are making a big impression after 9 games. As far as a future for any of our other choices we could have had, they may all be all pros but so might Loveland. So at this point in time , no one has made a huge impact on their team . We just had Loveland win a game for us.
  13. A couple of those Bengals TDs also had good coverage but a great player (Higgins ) made a great play. Penalties' were down but still to many at critical times. Caleb played a lot better but still had some bad decisions along the way. The best trait of Caleb is making plays late in games that put us in position to win games. The Loveland pass was perfect. I think BJ will get him to be more consistent going forward. Theo is still a weakness but I also did not see much chip help given him during the game. Maybe with the Kmet injury that changed some of the blocking scheme. Most people wanted another RB added to the room. Now we can see why they didnt add anyone. . Monangai was a beast. Brown looked good in spelling him also. i think going forward the carries will be split. The two games Monangai looked good he had 15 touches and 29 touches. The pick six with that Chase Brown touch before Edmunds went down with the interception was bogus. I thought he had to touch him when he was on the ground? Mongo ? That would have given us a 21 point lead with 2.30 left in the game. 90% of Flacco's passes were under 10 yards. When he gets the ball out that quick its hard to have a consistent pass rush. We did have a few big plays from the front 7. Booker, Loveland, Monangai all showed up which is encouraging Poles is getting some of the draftees right. I listened to Olin right after the game and he said how difficult it is to stay up after those late plays by the Bengals. We are developing a winning culture when our team finds ways to win under the worst circumstances. These are games we would have lost last year. 5-3 in not chump change. Gardner-Johnson played well for only 5 days with the team. If he keeps his attitude in check, he's a keeper. That's a big IF.
  14. Definitely we can do better than Hightower but there is a lot of good coaches in the room that would contribute to helping the STs. Correct me if Im wrong but is most of the STs comprised of LBs, DBs, and a few RBs and WRs? We have had injuries in the DB and LB group that has second stringers who would normally be playing ST starting and now young inexperience players are taking those spots. I think continuity in special teams is just as important as the OL needs it to be. Hightower will not be here next year but if we changed now would that do any good? Why was Daniel Hardy on the onside kick play? Young guy with very little experience. I would think WRs and RBs would be the bulk of players out there.
  15. The most important thing that happened today is we found out no matter what bizarre stuff happens, we can still win a game. That what good teams win even when they shouldnt have. Not that we are a good team.
  16. We got to wait to the end of the year to see how everything turns out. 8 games is a little early to compare picks. Maybe both turn out to be great picks. Its not a sprint more like a marathon.
