Didn't think of that but on a one year deal, a contender may need an above average player. 5 th round is a viable pick to develop for future years. Lots of what if still to be figured out by the bear's. Hell, they could restructure and keep him one more year too.

I think management circles know exactly what is going on, it's fans are confusing the information and creating rumors.

Declan Doyle withdraws name for Eagles OC positions, stays with Bears
Stinger226 replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
It was right to mention us in dysfunctional franchises. I never thought that before but outside sources looking at us think so. -
Even if they trade a player, it's not enough money. So you have to get what you can done to see what you have. Trades won't happen untill the new league starts. If they know Edmunds isn't coming back because of releasing them, they can count that money. Adam can they release Edmunds now if they want ?

Are you sure people aren't just repeating a rumor? No one sites a NFL employee or the owner saying that. I think it's speculation. The owner was asked that very question in an interview and denied the allegation. Like Mongo said he's making more money, a higher position of importance. Why is this the first time that this situation ever popped up before?

So the first thing they do will be restructure contracts to have money to make moves, starting with their own FAs. That's not that far away.

Declan Doyle withdraws name for Eagles OC positions, stays with Bears

I'm sure Lamar has input and don't think his criteria would be, I need a soldier. I would say he finds someone like minded with the offense. That may be Doyle, we don't know. -
The bears have one of most diverse organizations in the NFL. No commissioner is going to call this a sideways move. The fact he would get a huge pay raise speaks for itself.

It's been stated we don't get the comp picks. Going from Assistant GM to a GM is an upgrade for a job. Not sure where people suggest that it's something different. I think it's just pundits looking for clicks, no truth to it according to the owner of the Falcons.
-
He's not a bad player but doesn't have the push at the 3T spot. Definitely needs to move to NT, several people have suggested that here. Jarrett needs to be the backup to a new 3T and Dexter at NT. We need two starters there more than at DE. I think a push up the middle will get more sacks out of the DEs. If they resign one of the Ss, I think you could get a good S at a decent price. Maybe a 1 yr deal to Brisker to make sure he stays healthy. They may draft 2 Ss to get youth in the pipeline . Someone else may be more informed on free agent DLs available.

These comments show how important draft picks are going forward. I think these coaches can develop players so they will draft to replace current positions. There are several needs for immediate help, DL and S, I believe they could address LT early. That's why we need some depth to stay. We don't have any TEs in the pipeline, we need both. I hate to say this but we do have some depth at WR so that might be a place they decide to move on from.
-
He is one of the team leaders, that probably figures in when deciding if someone stays. I think one more year here probably. If traded a 5th round isn't worth losing the depth. Injuries happen every year especially at TE. Not sure there's a replacement on the team now. Carlson and Cahilic aren't ready for anything yet.
-
I think year 3 is the sweet spot on progess in a new offensive scheme but next year should have big numbers.

I did that once with a small knife on my keychain coming back from Roatan island and they pulled my luggage off the plane and did a cavity search. I was amazed it was two pretty latinas doing the search. I completely cooperated.

If Lamar has major input in the OC hire, you think he wants a OC that never called plays before? I doubt it. You would have to have an amazing interview to sell that. -
Blank was asked that direct question in an interview, ( oversees) , it's Ryan's job to hire the GM. I'm just repeating what I read, why would anyone take that job if all he's going to do is get coffee for Ryan. Didn't they room together in college or something like that? They probably have a close relationship. Isn't that the same job Warren has here? He doesn't make roster decisions here , Poles does.
-
I read that too. Using his low comp rate doesn't tell the whole story, it's more complicated than that.
-
I agree he's is playing below his pay level that's why I think he will take a restructured deal but that doesn't mean doesn't have value. BJ plays 2 TE scheme more than almost any other team. Who's the second TE, a rookie? I doubt it.
-
The owner came out and said the GM will make roster decisions that doesn't sound like he's a token hire. Will Ryan have input, of course but why hire a GM if you don't have anything for him to do.
-
They are 50 mil in the hole, doubt they add a big contract. They will want 1 st round draft picks, by the time they get good, DJ will be out of contract. But Browns are did dysfunctional, who knows.
-
I disagree, why would he want to leave when we very well could go to the SB next year. He doesn't come across to me, he's a me guy. I think after next year, everything is off the table. Why break up a top 3 offense next year and eliminate depth.
-
Didn't have anywhere to stick this. I had season tickets during Walters years and Monangai reminds me of Sweetness, not by the running style but the way he finishes plays. With violence. You give him 300 carries he would be one of the league rushering leaders.
-
We judge players by there stats to much. Kmet doesn't get the targets because of many weapons now but consistently has been a league leader in catch rate % . Also a team leader. Clearly we are a better team with both players. They will ask him to restructure his contract and he knows he is no longer a primary target. We get cap space and get to keep him. Problem solved.
-
Didn't know where to stick this. The starting LT of the Packers got arrested at a NY airport for having an unregistered gun getting on a plane . I never double checked this story but was hoping it's true. Suspension coming?
-
They fired his coach, a losing team, poor stats, and he deserves a pro bowl? I don't get it.
