I think if we wanted Biadesz, we would have signed him . He was in Hallas Hall. There are a few better options. Here's a video that goes over all the options. It doesn't matter if you agree with him but he did bring up resigning Bates who was our backup center last year. Dalman played every snap so obviously we didn't see him. Bates and draft a rookie center in the second or third? I don't think they will let a rookie center take control of the OL that early. Our OL coach will probably have a big input in who we get. Luke Fortner was the NO center last year. He was 18th ranked giving up 3 sacks but only 11 pressures. Dalman gave up 1 sack but 24 pressures. You could get Fortner for 3 or 4 mil. A year. McGovern is the next best center available but will probably cost 9-10 mil.

I expect we can sign Tyler Baidatz for about 10 and do the contract to give relief in this years Cap. I think it's only for 2 years so it stays aligned with the other OL contracts. Connor McGovern has almost the same rating as Baidarz. Is the 6 th rated center in pass blocking and gave up no sacks. But we would have to wait until free agency starts to sign him. He is out of contract, wasn't cut

It's highly unlikely we give up lots of draft capital for anybody. Poles wants to keep this going through the draft. 8 knee surgeries also worry me.
-
Aaron Lemning reported we get 10 mil in Cap space, 4 mil in dead money and was talking about the bonus being able to recover the 4 mil in 2027 over some condition. I didn't understand that point. Also seen where we were already talking to Tyler Biadasz the former Washington center who they cut this off-season at a 8.1 cap hit.

I just woke up, is this true? Wow that screws the OL strength Luke Newman was taking some snaps at OC, does he take over now?
-
He's better than those LBers but the best would be a 4 th if a couple of teams might fight over him.
-
Seen where Rapport corrected his post. Detroit got Juice Scruggs/ OL, a 4th and 7th. Quite the haul. Makes me wonder what Swift would bring back.

Poles wants more picks and would love to do that. Heard talk about the rumor of people wanting Dexter and Brad Biggs said those were false reports. Of all the local reporters, he always seems to have the best information. I don't trust any national media.

I'm up for whatever the bears decide to do as far as trade people, cut people but what is realistic? In a situation with no cap space, we are in different scenario than last year. We can't just overhaul the defense with no money. When you trade or cut someone we have to replace them. In the case of DJ we have some backups but we don't with Dexter. If you're telling me 3 rookie DTs is better than having Dexter as one on the field isn't realistic. He's not a star but he's not chump change either. We have to draft 2 DTs with Dexter here and now we need 3 replacements and add to the DE room? We don't have enough high picks or cap money to do that. In saying all of this I'm not in love with Dexter, it's just about realistically what we can get done in one year.

If we trade Dexter that means we have to draft 3 DTs. If you bring one in at the same money you're paying Dexter in FAgency then I understand but find that player. No one is giving us more than a 5th rounder if we were lucky. I'm not married to him but find someone making 2 mil a yr that gives you 6 sacks. If you go we 3 rookies instead of a vet , you're not getting help at another position.

I don't understand the concept of getting rid of everyone when we are trying to get to a SB when there is no one on the team to replace that player. In the case of trading DJ, we at least have Walker and resign Zacchus to fill that spot. I think DJ staying gets us closer to that goal but if we can get value in a trade, I would understand. In the case of Edmunds, we could save the money and replace him with a less expensive player. (Demarco Jackson) Or if they find another cheaper option. Poles talked about this off-season that they wouldn't be making a big splash and I believe that because we just don't have the money. A few players back, a couple of cheaper free agents and the draft.

We need help on the DL, so why would they trade Dexter? You aren't getting anything valuable for him plus any DT you would bring in would cost more. He's not a star player but he's not a bad player. If we had a younger player to replace him , I would understand but we don't plus he's durable. I don't remember him missing any games.

I think Tremaine Edmunds is going to get cut soon
Stinger226 replied to BearFan PHX's topic in Bearstalk
I understand your point but if I was negotiating a deal, I would rather start at 0 than 15 mil. It will surprise me if many teams value him at 15 mil but you only need one. -
Bears To Indiana? If They Go, Eat $h!t and CHOKE On it

I prefer the term( finished a deal) and not( in the process). Nothing is guaranteed until the money flows. I don't trust Illinois politicians. -

I'm not sure why any team would trade for him when they know he is going to be released. They can negotiate a new salary instead of paying him a big paycheck. -
Here is some stupid rumors I've seen and throw them into a scenario for our off season. Bears trade DJ Moore for Devonte Sweat/ NT/ Tenn . Sweat is 25 , great against the run but not much of a pass rusher. 2.6 mil a year but we save 16.5 mil. Contract runs thru 27. We trade D Swift and Bagent for Josh Sweat at AZ. Sweat had 12 sacks last year and 49 hurries with 3 FFs. His Cap this year 16.5 mil and has 4 years left in his contract with the last one being a voided yr. Swift and Bagent move 13.3 mil in salary. We resign Byard, Demarco Jackson, Zaccheaus , Keenum and E Hicks plus Gardner-Johnson to play SS on a 1 yr deal. In this scenario we get the comp pick around pick 100. In the draft we trade pick 25 for for Seattle pick 32 and pick 96. 32- Lee Hunter/ DT 57- Gabe Jacas/Edge 89- Isaiah World/ OT 96- Nicholas Singleton/ RB 100-Jalon Kilgore/ S 129-Kyle Louis/ LB 163-Marlin Klein/ TE 240- Andre Fuller/ CB 242- Miller Moss/ QB

From past history, Poles lets no information escape Halas Hall. I think when asked about DJ staying, his tone seemed to change that tells me if someone makes a good offer he would take that. I think it all comes down to value.
-
I think so.

Since DA will be here for a long time, I think they only draft scheme fit players in the draft. My first 4 picks I want 2 DTs, a DE and OT. Let them figure out who best fits and give value at that spot. I think they bring in Ss and LBers in free agency. I also think he acquires more picks for other positions.

Bears To Indiana? If They Go, Eat $h!t and CHOKE On it
Stinger226 replied to Lucky Luciano's topic in Bearstalk
Can someone direct me to the actual offer Indiana is proposing for the bears. I'm not jumping to conclusions on what that is until I see it. What the bears are asking Illinois is to improve the infrastructure around the stadium and give them a break on the insane tax bill proposed. Arlington racetrack was paying 20 million a year in taxes. The bears tore the structure down and they were told that had to pay 200 mil a year on raw land. They asked for it to stay the same until the structure was complete and then for a fair assessment. With the added revenue that will be brought in, it more than justfly the bonds that would be put out to pay for the infrastructure. The reduction in the tax bill is future income for the state and not taken money from their coffers. The Arlington project would already be underway if the government didn't try to make a cash cow on raw land while under construction. The bears then decided to leverage a better deal by looking at Indiana. Pro Football is a business and the bears are acting like a business. I'm going to still be a bear's fan where ever it ends up. -
I heard Greg Gabriel say that George has already called the NFL administration about this matter. Not sure where he got that but he's worked in those offices before. He must have some connections.

I seen this many times but this is the first I noticed Grady Jarrett saying " oh my God,oh my God, what the fu** was that". https://www.facebook.com/share/r/183DjgFhR9/

My hope is McDonald and another DT, a DE, S and LT. Who we add in FAgency will alter where we pick those players. There is usually LBers and Ss that can be found in FAgency. Edwards, Byard came here that way. Draft DL and OL.
