He gave up 33 pressures last year but if we can get him for 10- mil, I'm in. LT is a premium position and people get overpaid all the time.
-
Kahil Mack just got paid 18 mil for 1 year. Free agents are not going to be cheap. It may be just the draft unless someone like Cam Jordan wants to be here.
-
If there are several teams fighting over Tyler he's making a lot more than 15 mil. Competition always escalates contracts. With as many spots we have to fill, I don't think they're spending big at any position. Bradbury type moves. With several times talking to Byard, we could easily move on from him if he's offered 12+ , Cam Curl got 13 mil a year.

Jeff King is the new assistant GM and it just may be his opinion. He won't last long as AGM it he's leaking information. It just could be the league haven't decided yet and they will find out when the rest of us but they may think it's 60% a chance they do. I think she is one the local press that does ask good questions. My opinion
-
It's all about the Cap space. This isn't the same as past years, we don't have flexibility. Of course they could restructure several contracts but they will only do what they think they need to fill some holes. Like AB said, I think they next try to sign some of their own FAs. The deals on veterans won't be the first few days.
-
I'm okay with Decker if he's cheap enough because they only need one year at the most from him . He gave up 33 pressures last year which is Braxton Jones territory but it is temporary. I trust BJ on his opinion.
-
You said the key word in sports, TRUST. BJ has to trust Caleb, Caleb has to trust his WRs and the lineman needs to know his their teammates will pick up something you had a misstep on.
-
I think we will pay like a 10 mil contract for a DL, either DE or possibly a DT. Not sure we will for another position. I think Byard may get close to that but not any free agent Ss or LBers. You can find cheaper Free agents to compete at S and LB. Example would be TJ Edwards, a great value at what we have paid him. I think a Cam Jordan or Mack if we can get at a team friendly price. I just think they are Cap conscious with every move, so it will selective and not at a big price. I would love us to bring in Johnathan Allen at a bargain price.

I do have a question for you to address your experience. When I played football it high school at an above average level and went to college, my first year I hurt my back, it was the last time I played. My question is being college roommates with Thuney and still friends does that give him a slight advantage over another center coming in here?

I understand, I'm just not sure at 73 , I'm going to learn to speak differently. We are all passionate about our opinions, so I never get mad over little things. Reasonable people discuss things and you always have been a reasonable person. It probably comes from plumbing for 55 years, I speak exactly because people with less knowledge would always try to tell I was wrong about something. I'm highly intelligent when I speak of plumbing but that's the only thing I'm an expert on. AND I have been wrong before, but it was a rarity.

Agree on everything you said.
-
Agree, I believe at other times for the bears, someone might have gotten inside information but Poles hasn't shown since he's been here.
-
IMO, everyone on here knows everything I say is my opinion. There is nothing I seen her predict that was first time hearing it or where she scooped a story. How ever you wish to hear when I speak is up to you. And you're entitled to have a different opinion, I'm not here to convince anyone the right or wrong thing. I'm on her Twitter and watch her podcast. My memory fades me so if I missed something she had a scoop on, I will gladly say I'm wrong.

Does anyone think Luke Newman is the future center? Last year they asked him to take snaps at OC. There has been suggested this is a good draft for centers. Have no idea if that's true or not but I think if they end up with the comp pick that would be a good spot to draft the center. Would be pick 100 and only 2 rated before that in the draft.
-
I don't disagree but I don't think she has any sources in the bears organization. Poles runs a tight ship but it is possible some agents could leak information. Rapoport seems to have NFL sources so she could get info that way. If anyone had inside sources we would have heard about this center trade before two hours ago. Who we targeted in the draft last year. She was very adamant about us trading up for Jeanty and it didn't happen. I'm not badmouthing her, I love her, my favorite woman reporter but she doesn't have sources in the bears organization.
-
IMO we are not trading 2 first round picks for anybody. This move shows it would have been 2 1st round picks. Poles won't do that. 50% of our fan base are sad right now. It just wasn't going to happen.
-
Spot on but they do have Jared Wilson they drafted last year that played guard. He could be the new center. I Iike it because all these bear journalists pushing for lindenbaum got a slap in the face on a Cap cost move that fits in. Great move on Poles part. I'll take 0 sacks and 0 penalties every day of the week. Also has taken every snap the last two years. Very durable.
-
Correct, Johan Jackson didn't look good from his previous year but he turned into a healthy baller. They will not on everything but they are targeting players and we get to see how that turns out. I don't know how good Bradbury is but like PHX said, screw PFF, no sacks no penalties and 20 pressures seems like great numbers to me.
-
First of all, I only form opinions by what I digest in the football realm. I don't know anything for sure but guess by forming that opinion. Just like everyone else on here. In not going after either Tyler or Connor that suggests they are making cap friendly moves. Could they sign a big dollar guy, of course but I don't think they are. We don't know what they value people on their current roster but we do know until they trade someone or restructure contracts they don't have a lot of money right now. Lots of people have given different numbers on cap space but I think around 32 mil seems the most accurate. We just subjected 5.7 mil off of that amount. We will need operating capital and about a 13 mil rookie pool. I'm not good at math but it doesn't seem we have a lot of money to fill a lot of positions. Those are future costs but it does say to me we aren't making any big money deals.
-
I have never heard her sight a source so I assume her take are by pundits she trusts. She works for ESPN so I think her information comes from there. Of course she has been right about stuff before but I do remember he stating we wanted Jeanty and were going to trade up for him. Maybe we couldn't get a trade done for that but I only know it didn't happen. The only people that seem to get things right a lot are Schefter and Rapoport . Don't know if I spelled them right. Some pundits predict a 100 different actions and then of course they can say they were right but I like the ones that keep their predictions simple but hit on them. If there are any you know about that are accurate, let me know, I will follow them. I like Cronin and am not trying to bash her but tons of football journalists claim they have inside information and can't remember any saying that accurately.

You are correct none of us know anything. Until they do something, we can only assume they fix any position in house. I have read several people that said his injury could be faster recovery but that is just an opinion with Ozzy. I think what will let us know is by their actions. If they don't bring in a FA but re-sign Braxton that makes a statement. They could draft a LT at 25 but that answer is 6 weeks away. I think they might do both, cover themselves with Braxton or another FA and draft one but maybe not at 25. What I think this means is we are not spending big money on a LT in free agency. The signing of Bradbury shows they are making cap type choices. Poles can surprise us , the Bradbury move was out of left field.
-
I think one thing we are overlooking is how smart he is. His successful qbs were Maye and Cousins. They wanted someone that can help Caleb run the offense. They targeted him and he is cheap. Money always matters.
-
I don't think we end up with Decker, cost is prohibited. Mongo is on to what we probably do. OL coach suggested the answer is in house. We assume Ozzy may be gone the whole season but I've heard it could just be 6 weeks. Bring Braxton Jones back, get by for 6 weeks. We have no idea what Kiran can do but maybe he is past his injury and they know more about him than we do. I think they bring back Byard but at their price. He was all pro and led the league in interceptions. Has he lost a step at his age , yes but with a better pass rush, healthy LBers and CBs, pressure won't be on him as much.. He was the D leader and is a playmaker. With Edmunds leaving we need a leader. With healthy CBs, he will be no problem.
-
He is ranked 30th on PFF. Gave up no sacks, no penalties and 20 pressures. Good friends with Joe Thuney. No sure how you rate centers on PFF but 0 and 0 are impressive. Poles always surprises us. Either they're drafting a center or expect Newman to take over in 2 yrs. AND 5.7 mil cost.
-
She is just a reporter and I'm never heard he sight inside information before, so I suspect it's from rumors.
