  1. Everyone has different opinions on players if we all agreed on everything this would be a boring discussion board. DJ has not had a good year compared to past performances but when you have many elite weapons, no one has had a great year. That puts him in the position to be odd man out. I personally think they keep him one more year and won't be here in 27. Look at SF as an example, lots of people hurt and they still keep winning because they have good depth. I think just as we get a top 10 offense, they are not going to dismantle it. DJ will have more value as an in season trade prospect as other teams have injury problems. This gives us the ability to have both Rome and Burden a chance to grow their roles. If anyone was paying attention both have been injured this year. Injuries happen every year and BJ is not taking away assets ( DJ and Kmet) that could stunt the growth of Caleb in which should be his breakout year. I think there will be a big shift on defense that could see a lot of new faces. I think Edmunds is gone but a few starters will also leave as we rebuild a defense thru DAs scheme. They will redo some contracts and cut and trade a few players but on defense. The draft will be a big contribution to what we do. This draft could all be on defense this year. These are what I project the bears will do. They could surprise me and go after a Crosby type but I don't think we are one player away from a great defense. Some contracts will prohibit us from getting rid of them this year but big roster change are coming in 27.
  2. At the beginning of the year, Edmunds was the leading tackler on the team and made some big plays. Pro bowl level may have been a reach ( many Bear pundits was saying that) but he was playing well.
  3. I don't get the mentality of dumping the DC after his first year. Like people have stated, he doesn't necessarily have the players to fit his scheme, plus injuries have been huge . I think we were down 6 starters for a couple of games. Starters have come back but not playing up to there levels. A lot of TOs and red zone Def has been good. Before you get rid of DA, give him the players he wants before you judge him.
  4. When we lose, the whole team takes responsibility but when you hold a team to one TD and 19 points, you should win a game. Did the defense play well, of course not but I think the defense did their part to keep us in the game. The defense has gotten people back but not one of them have played well. JJ isn't himself. Edmunds was playing at all pro level before the injury, now he is a liability. Tj Edwards has been ok but not at the same level from before. I think we were doing better when backups were playing. Gardner-Johnson is not good at the NB spot. He had some big plays since coming here but speed at the slot kills him. Stevenson didn't play a snap last game. The defense is a mess but have played descent in the red zone and with TOs. That's the best we're going to get , it can't be fixed until next year. Gordon is coming back but I don't expect a lot out of him. We are going to win or lose with our offense. Our expectations have been raised because of our cardiac finishes but can that work in the playoffs? I think we can win any game but will not dominate any games. We need to appreciate our 11-6 record, division win and 2 nd conference rankings but we aren't ready for a SB run just yet.
  5. That qualifies for a good year with progress.
  6. If you only give up one TD in a game and total 19 points, not sure they take the blame for this game.
  7. All of that sounds good but as a lot of people have mentioned, he had a mediocre season. That doesn't enhance his trade value. Find me a realistic trade scenario and I'll jump on the bandwagon. My premise is I don't think 20 teams fighting over trading for DJ will happen. Maybe Carolina will want him back? Dallas will need to replace Pickens? It's just not that easy to make those kind of trades.
  8. We drafted a future all pro, A+ for the first round pick.
  9. For all the complaining on the draft Loveland and Burden were the right choices.
  10. For sure. I did not like the lack of energy until the end of the game. But it's a new week , hopefully this is a Eagles type game, start pounding the ball instead of relying on all the hiccups in our passing game. The defense isn't getting fixed this year. The best we can expect is a few TOs and red zone defense. Have to mention the vaulted lion's offense only scored 19 points. Defense didn't lose this game today.
  11. I totally understand the need to get more Cap space for more help for our defense. Find me teams that want expensive Kmet or DJ after having mediocre yrs? Cleveland and Vegas are rebuilding so I would assume they would want draft picks. Cleveland doesn't have any cap space so they want to dump Cap not add to it. Vegas has plenty of space and have Bowers and Mayer at TE, no trading for Kmet. They have the money to sign George Pickens to go with a drafted QB. I would rather pay 30 mil to Pickens (younger) than 28.5 mil to DJ. It's a good draft for WRs maybe they might draft one. Trade anybody but find me someone that logically would take on their salary?
  12. Better if Seattle wins. That's puts in the driver's seat if they might get upset for the NFC championship game. Home field in Chicago would matter.
  13. Watching SF and Seattle. So Seattle will have to play LA or SF again at home. An upset in their first game would give us home field for the NFC championship game. Of course we have to win to get there. I like our chances.
  14. Good point. The key all of this to have future success is to have good drafts. The first draft of the Poles/ BJ regime is highly successful. 3 high end weapons, a LT, future OG starter, future DL starter and a few question marks. Home run. Like you said ( coaches that develop players).

  16. If I'm a GM, we are poised to make a playoff run with our current roster. We have a top 10 offense, I will find ways to tweak the team to make the defense better. I'm not mortgaging the the future for one player. I don't get the dismantle a team with 12 or more wins mentality. Cut Edmunds but you have to resign DJackon and will resign Byard.( Leader of the defense) . I would resign Duhshon Wright (won't be cheap) and try to trade JJ. Terrell Smith and Gordon will be back. Trading weapons and one of our best OLs in years for a pass rusher doesn't make sense to me. Fortunately Poles and BJ will figure it out. .
  17. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Crosby or Garrett but I don't think they will lose the first round picks for the future. If they get rid of DJ and Kmet, I'm not going to whine about , I trust they know what their doing. I just don't think they are bringing in a free agent that cost the draft picks. There are several free agents available. I'll post them here later.
  18. Not much experience but I played one year in college and after I got hurt, I wanted to play. Smarter people controlled the room. Mongo did you ever play hurt? Let them play, give Rome limited snaps. Limited snaps for the old folks. Do what ever it takes, not to lose.
  19. I agree and will say it's about coaching. Look at the fest going on at Michigan since harbaugh left. The Indiana Coach came from the Alabama tree and now there winning.
  20. If you add selective free agents and rely on the draft it will extend our good years. If you have good drafts the next two years it continues the cycle. To get those trades, probably will be 2 firsts and a player. If it's just players go for it, it's the draft picks that bother me. Almost every contract on the books has outs in 27. I think Poles redoes contracts and end Edmunds to get the money needed for next year to add someone just doubt if it's Garrett or Crosby. We all know if the team wants one of those two, he will find away without weaking our team. IMO
  21. BJ said all that matters is winning. He's not taking his foot off the gas.
  22. I don't care as much about stats as some fans do but I would like Caleb to get 4000, DJ, Loveland and Burden to get over 700. Then that conversation can leave our fandom.
  23. You could be right we have a bevy of ideas on here. Trade any D player, it's not good anyways. SF is successful and are worst in the league in sacks. I just want us to get a run in the playoffs with a powerful offense, the modern day NFL. Houston have 2, 14 and 13 sacks. Denver has one at 12.5, Rams have 2, 12.5 and 11 sacks. Denver leads the league in sacks with only 1 over 8 sacks. Only Houston and Denver are in the playoffs of the top 5 sacking teams in the league. Only 4 of the top ten sack leaders are in the playoffs. 7 of the top 20 which includes Sweat. I think top coaches and top QBs are the most important aspects of teams that makes SB runs . A good roster helps also.
  24. We have limited cap space, probably be around 5 to 6 mil, so the only way to get more is redo contracts or dump big salaries thru trade or cuts. Offensively DJ,Kmet, Swift are the contractors that may be dealt. IMO they keep this offense together one more year since we are so close to being a high octane scoring team. I think Swift has played his way into the lead role and won't leave on the last year of his contract. Maybe they extend him another yr to get the 26 Cap hit down. I think more likely to redo both DJ and Kmet for more money instead of dealing them. Depth has been important this year as every WR and Loveland has missed games or not 100 % been healthy. I think both are here one more year. Defense has been terrible and I don't care who stays or who goes. Edmunds was an all star before injury and clearly affected him coming back. I think for sure he won't be here. If any player that are most entitled it's JJ. I don't think he's been 100% and hasn't played well since back . He signs a contract then before he comes back there was rumor he wanted more money. Those are the two contracts I would like to see gone for Cap space. Dayo and Jarrett haven't been worth it but contracts won't allow them to leave until 27. I think a priority should be bringing back Byard besides his play is the defense leader. Him and Edwards fill those roles. Terrell Smith will be back so I think we could afford to lose JJ. Sweat is a 2nd tier edge but until we replace him, he won't be leaving. I think Booker is getting better every week and will have a breakout season next year. Don't really care about who else stays or goes. Would like to see them bring back Wright, Gad-Johnson, and D Jackson but trust BJ and Poles to figure that out.
